The late Joe Robbie led the financing campaign to build Joe Robbie Stadium (JRS) for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). JRS revolutionized the economics of professional sports when it opened in Inclusion of a Club Level, along with Executive Suites, helped to finance the construction of the Stadium. Season ticket holders committed to long term agreements, and in return they received first-class amenities in a state-of-the-art facility which is still used as a model for new facilities across the country. HISTORY In April 2006, Dolphins Enterprises CEO Joe Bailey, announced and unveiled the new stadium logo and modified name. The stadium name was changed to Dolphin Stadium, and a new, modern-looking dolphin in orange, teal, blue and platinum colors with the words Dolphin Stadium was unveiled as the new stadium logo. Also unveiled were the two largest hi-definition video boards in professional sports. A new fascia LED ribbon-board was installed in July 2006 as well. In 2007, H. Wayne Huizenga embarked in a $250 million capital improvement project, expanding the stadium by 360,000 square feet and installing brand new state-of-the-art technology. The improvement and revitalization of the building has allowed the stadium to remain one of the premier sports and entertainment facilities in the world * 1955 * 1956 * 1974 * 1975 * 1985 * NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

8 7 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 42 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 24 BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS 148 ALL-AMERICANS 62 NATIONAL AWARD WINNERS 8 SEASON NOTES THE SOONERS BRIEFLY Oklahoma won its third straight Big 12 Championship and its sixth overall. No other league member has more than two and no other member has won titles in consecutive years. The Sooners won 10 or more games for the third straight year and for the eighth time in Bob Stoops 10 seasons. This is the fifth time that a Stoops-coached OU team has won at least 12. OU was No. 4 in both of preseason polls. It marked the 10th straight season that the team was ranked in the first AP poll. The Sooners spent the entire season ranked among the top five and two weeks at No. 1. Oklahoma was tabbed for a first-place finish in the Big 12 s South Division in a preseason polling of league media. In fact, the Sooners tied for that distinction then won the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship game over Missouri in Kansas City s Arrowhead Stadium. OU led the All-Big 12 Conference team with eight first-team picks. The league coaches choose the squad. Three players from the 07 team left early for the NFL: WR Malcolm Kelly (Redskins), LB Curtis Lofton (Falcons) and DB Reggie Smith (49ers). BRADFORD CLAIMS OKLAHOMA S FIFTH HEISMAN TROPHY Sam Bradford claimed Oklahoma s fifth Heisman Trophy when he was announced as the winner on Dec. 13, five years to the date that fellow Sooner Jason White won the award. Bradford received 1,726 points followed by Texas Colt McCoy with 1,640 and Florida s Tim Tebow with 1,575. Bradford became the second sophomore to win the award after Tim Tebow did so in Four of OU s Heisman winners were home grown. The exception was Billy Sims (1978) from Hooks, Texas. Bradford was the second winner during the Bob Stoops era and the fifth finalist under the current coach. The other finalists were Josh Heupel (2000), Jason White (2003), Adrian Peterson and Jason White (2004). Stoops is one of only three active coaches with multiple Heisman winners. USC s Pete Carroll and Florida State s Bobby Bowden are the other two. Bradford also became Oklahoma s third recipient of the Davey O Brien Award, which is presented annually to the nation s top quarterback. GRANGER, MURRAY OUT Oklahoma is missing two prominent players who underwent surgery after the Big 12 Championship Game. RB DeMarco Murray required repair of a partially ruptured tendon in his left hamstring, while DT DeMarcus Granger had an operation for chronic lower back problems. Murray was OU s leading rusher until suffering the injury on the opening play of the title contest. He now ranks No. 2 on the team with 1,002 yards. He is the team leader in all purpose yards with 2,171. He scored 18 touchdowns this season, 14 on the ground and four through the air. Murray is the No. 13 rated kickoff returner in the nation with 27.6 yards per return. Granger played in 11 games, all as a reserve. He missed the Big 12 Championship Game with his injury. The junior was credited with 20 tackles on the season. VICTORY AT WASHINGTON WAS NO. 100 FOR STOOPS Oklahoma s victory at Washington on Sept. 13, represented a historic milestone of 100 victories for Sooner head coach Bob Stoops... Stoops is the eighth-fastest coach to 100 victories in NCAA history by reaching the milestone in 122 games, the same number it took for former OU head coach Barry Switzer to hit the mark. Another OU great, Bud Wilkinson, picked up his 100th victory in game 111. He is No. 3 on the list. Oklahoma is the only school to produce four, 100-win coaches: Bennie Owen ( from ), Wilkinson ( from ) and Switzer ( from ). Stoops is the second coach in NCAA history, first in the modern era, to win 100 games in his first 10 seasons. His victory total ranks No. 2 in NCAA history for 10 seasons. Penn s George Woodruff, who finished in 1901, holds the mark at 124 wins. Switzer is third at 98. Stoops is one of three to average of 10 victories per season with at least 10 seasons of coaching. The others were Tom Osborne (255 in 25 seasons at Nebraska) and George Woodruff (142 in 12 seasons, mostly at Penn). Stoops teams are with one national title and six league crowns in 10 seasons. In the 10 years before he arrived in Norman, the OU football fortunes had taken a rare dip. The program was with no championships and only three bowl trips OKLAHOMA BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GUIDE SOONERSPORTS.COM * Score Another 10 This is Oklahoma s 31st season with at least 10 victories. 10 7 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 42 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 24 BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS 148 ALL-AMERICANS 62 NATIONAL AWARD WINNERS 10 OFFENSE NOTES ABOUT THE OFFENSE Under Stoops, OU produced its career leader in passing and receiving, while turning out the No. 3 and No. 4 career rushers and the school record holder for single-season rushing, passing and receiving yards. Of 81 basic offensive records at OU, 54 have been set under Stoops. OU scored at least one TD in every game dating to Nov. 7, OU rushed for 200 yards 41 times under Stoops, 35 in the last five years. Also under Stoops, OU has 139 touchdowns of 25+ yards and 283 scoring drives that took less than two minutes. OU is the highest scoring program in college football history. In 1,139 games, the Sooners scored 30,421 points, or 26.7 per game. Michigan has 29,532 points in 1,203 games and Nebraska 29,415 in 1,199. ABOUT THE OFFENSE IN 2008 OU has scored a school record 97 TDs to clip the 80 from last season. With 702 points, this is the highest scoring team in the modern era of college football. It also is the first in that span to score 60 or more points in five consecutive games (current streak). This is also the first team to feature a 4,000-yard passer and two 1,000-yard rushers. With 55 points at Washington, 58 at Kansas State and 66 at Texas A&M, Oklahoma has eclipsed 50 on the road three times this season. That has not happened at OU since OU also scored 62 against Missouri on a neutral field in the Big 12 Championship Game. OU set a school record for points in a first half with 55 at Kansas State (tied OU record for points in any half). In the modern era (since 1937), OU has scored 50 or more first-half points four times -- twice this season. The Sooners have been over 500 yards of total offense 10 times, over 600 four times. The best total was 674 yards against Kansas, the most total yardage by an OU team since 829 against Kansas State in OU ran 97 plays vs. Kansas, the most by the Sooners since OU has 18 scoring drives of 60 seconds or less. Oklahoma scored on its first drive in 11 games this season with nine touchdowns and two field goals. The two times OU failed to score on its first possession (Kansas, Oklahoma State), it scored on its second. OU scored 35 first-quarter points vs. Nebraska to equal its one-period best vs. Big 12 foes. For the first time in its history, OU has scored 28 or more points four times in a quarter this season (three in the first quarter). Five times this season six OU players have scored in the same game. OU had 39 first downs against Missouri, 36 first downs vs. Kansas, 32 vs. Texas Tech, 30 vs. Cincinnati. HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER SAM BRADFORD In 2007 (freshman): 14 g, 3,121 yards, 36 TDs, 8 INT. In 2008 (sophomore): 13 g, 4,464 yards, 48 TDs, 6 INT. Bradford averages yards/comp. That s 2+ yards more than any of the top three passers in the nation. Bradford has missed a total of 97 snaps (OU averages 78.3 per game) and 60:42 minutes of possession time (OU averages 29:38 per game) after OU built big leads. Has twice left game before the fourth quarter began. No. 1 nationally with 48 touchdown passes despite ranking No. 9 in pass attempts. No. 3 nationally in passing yards despite throwing 126 fewer passes than No. 2 and 114 fewer than No. 1. No. 1 nationally in passing efficiency and trying to become only the third player to lead the nation in two straight years (stat began in 1979). Ranks No. 4 nationally in total offense despite OU averaging 43.1 rushes and rushing yards per game. Set OU record for passing yards in a game with 468 vs. Kansas (broke Josh Heupel s 429 vs. Louiville, 1999). Also broke Jason White s records for touchdown passes in a season (46) and in a career (82). Has broken NCAA record for TD passes during the frosh/soph seasons with 84. Rex Grossman held it at 55. OU quarterbacks have thrown a school-record five TDs in 11 games. Bradford has six of those, four in 08. Bradford has an OU record 34 career completions of 40 or more yards. That tops Jason White s 29. In 08, he averages one TD pass every 9.2 attempts; one INT every 73.7 attempts (less than one/ game). Bradford has nine completions that exceeded 50 yards this season. All nine went for touchdowns. Multiple TD throws in 23 games (five each vs. Miami (Fla.), Texas A&M, Cincy, Washington, Texas and Nebraska) OKLAHOMA BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GUIDE SOONERSPORTS.COM * PASSING YARDS CAREER Yards Player Years Josh Heupel ,201 Sam Bradford PASSING YARDS SEASON Yards Player Years 1. 4,080 Sam Bradford YARD PASSING GAMES CAREER No. Player Years Josh Heupel Sam Bradford YARD PASSING GAMES SEASON No. Player Years Sam Bradford Josh Heupel 1999 TOTAL OFFENSE CAREER Yards Player Years 2. 7,522 Josh Heupel ,266 Sam Bradford TOTAL OFFENSE SEASON Yards Player Years 1. 4,138 Sam Bradford 2008 TOUCHDOWN PASSES CAREER TD Player Years Sam Bradford Jason White TOUCHDOWN PASSES SEASON TD Player Years Sam Bradford Jason White 2003 RECEPTIONS CAREER Rec. Malcolm Kelly was the only other OU player to accomplish that feat. Juaquin Iglesias has a career total of 4,462 all purpose yards, which ranks No. 3 on the Oklahoma career list. Iglesias has catches in 45 straight games (third-longest in nation, Jarrett Dillard, Rice, 48; Casey Flair, UNLV, 47). Iglesias string of six straight games with a TD catch was snapped vs. Texas. Mark Clayton holds the OU best (8). Quentin Chaney has emerged with more than 100 receiving yards twice (105 vs. Kansas, 128 vs. Nebraska). JERMAINE TO OKLAHOMA S SUCCESS Tight end Jermaine Gresham has more touchdown catches than any tight end in OU history. He has 24 for his career, including 12 in 08. He also has more this season than any other Big 12 tight end. Gresham is striking from longer distance in Last season, he averaged 13.8 yards per touchdown catch, but that figure has ballooned to 22.1 this season. More than a receiver, Gresham averages 5.7 knockdown blocks per game. SWITZER MUST LIKE THIS Oklahoma has rushed for an average yards over the last four games. The Sooners have been over 200 yards seven times this season with two other games above 190. DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown have rushed for 100 or more yards in the same game on four occassions this season. In the Big 12 title game, Brown and Mossis Madu turned the trick. Murray has 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns on 179 rushes. On a combined 264 rushes, Chris Brown and Mossis Madu, who spent the year as Murray s back-ups, have combined for 1,573 yards and 26 touchdowns. With Murray at 1,002 yards and Brown at 1,110, OU has two 1,000-yard rushers in the same season for the first time since 1973 when Joe Washington and Waymon Clark did it. Greg Pruitt and Jack Mildren both went over 1,000 yards in 1971 as did Billy Vessels and Buck McPhail in THE LINE ON THE LINE This offensive line two-deep averages 6-5 (77.1 inches) and pounds. During the Stoops era this is the third-heaviest and third-tallest line. This line (two-deep) has combined for 200 starts, 293 games played. GOOD HANDLES Oklahoma lost its first fumble of the season in game eight at Kansas State. Chris Brown lost the handle with 5:08 remaining in the fourth quarter on a rushing play. That means the Sooners rushed 341 times before losing a fumble. Including all ball handling, OU handed the ball 571 times before losing a fumble. The only other fumble charged to OU this season was on a fourth-quarter onside kick against Texas Tech. OFFENSIVE MISCELLANY OU is No. 5 in the nation in Red Zone Scoring at with 69 touchdowns. If you took only OU s first-half scoring average the Sooners, would rank No. 21 nationally in scoring (35.07). There have been five games this season in which six different Sooners scored touchdowns. Sam Bradford is completing 67% of his passes on third down (85-126) with 62 first downs and 19 TDs. Eight different receivers have at least five third-down receptions. Oklahoma s 49 touchdown passes have gone to 10 different receivers. OU has completed passes to 18 receivers, which ranks No. 4 nationally. Matt Clapp s seven rushing attempts rank No. 2 for a fullback under Stoops. MURRAY OUT Running back DeMarco Murray will miss this game after undering surgery to repair a partially ruptured tendon in his left hamstring. Murray has career 33 touchdowns, the most in the first two years of an OU career. 12 7 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 42 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 24 BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS 148 ALL-AMERICANS 62 NATIONAL AWARD WINNERS DEFENSE NOTES ABOUT THE SOONER DEFENSE OU forced at least one turnover in 115 of Bob Stoops 132 games and has at least one interception in 85 of the last 114; multiple picks in 38 of the last 84 outings. Oklahoma has nine shutouts under its current head coach. Opponents scored less than seven points 30 times and less than 14 in 58 games. NO EASY ROAD FOR THIS DEFENSE Oklahoma played 10 of the top 50 total offense teams in the nation and nine of the top 50 in scoring... Of those nine teams that ranked among the top 50 in scoring, only two exceeded their averages against Oklahoma. Texas scored 45 (avg ) and Kansas State scored 35 (avg ). The other seven scored a combined points beneath their average or 12.5 points per game. OU played against seven of the top 20 individual total offense leaders in the nation including five of the top 15 in passing yards. The Sooners also saw seven of the top 20 receivers by receptions per game. BEHIND ENEMY LINES Oklahoma has 42 sacks on the season, which is 11 more than the team managed last season in 14 games. This team has been consistent in sacking the quarterback too, notching at least two in 12 of 13 games. Over the last five games, Oklahoma s defense has logged 19 sacks. Over the last two seasons, OU has 67 sacks (2.5/game) while allowing /game). In 08, the ratio is 42:11. Oklahoma has 101 tackles for 430 yards in losses compared with just 54 for 161 by the opponents. DEFENSIVE MISCELLANY Eight of the the 32 rushing or passing touchdowns scored against Oklahoma this season were scored in the fourth quarter of comfortable Sooner victories. Four were scored in the final minute. OU ranks No. 21 nationally in third-down defense (33.3%). Opponents have converted just 95-of-184. In defense of the defense it should be noted that opposing teams scored 28 of their 319 points on special teams. teams plays. WEAK FREAK Travis Lewis is having a banner season at weak side linebacker. The redshirt freshman leads the team with 137 tackles (ranks No. 8 nationally with 10.7/game), 19 of which came against Texas when he tied the freshman single-game set by Brian Bosworth in the 1984 Nebraska game. Bosworth also had the freshman season tackle record at 133 before Lewis moved ahead during the Big 12 Championship Game. Darrell Reed is next with 90 and Kevin Murphy with 87. The 17 INTs thus far have been made by six different players. Oklahoma has converted 32 opponent turnovers in 20 touchdowns (63%). A turnover has led to a touchdown in eight of 12 games. The average scoring drive after OU claims a takeaway is 37.6 yards, 4.45 plays and 1:31. OU opponents have converted just three of nine turnovers into touchdowns. SOONERS LOSE TWO TO INJURY MLB Ryan Reynolds is out after incurring a right knee injury against Texas (game six). The junior concluded the campaign with 46 total tackles, five for loss with two pass deflections and one fumble forced. Reynolds was the only player on OU s team that came into the season with a previous Sooner starting assignment at linebacker. The Sooners are also missing back-up defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger for this game. The junior had 20 tackles on the season while playing in 11 games. MORE THAN RUN STOPPERS Defensive ends and blitzers tend to be associated with the sack, but the Sooner interior has played a role in that statistic too.
