Seeing action in its second straight league road contest, the 14th-ranked Duke women s basketball team (17-3, 5-2 ACC) will travel to eighth-ranked Notre Dame (18-3, 6-1) Thursday, Jan. 26 for a 7 p.m., tilt in Notre Dame, Ind. Thursday s game will be aired live on ACC Network Extra with Conor Clingen and A.J. Burgett calling the action. It will also be carried on the Blue Devil IMG Sports Network on with Chris Edwards on the air beginning at 6:45 p.m. It will be aired live on 620 AM, 99.3 FM, 96.5 FM, TuneIn Radio app and What is Next?... Duke will host Wake Forest Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m., live on RSN-TV from Cameron Indoor Stadium. Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes... Duke currently ranks No. 9 in the latest NCAA RPI -- UConn (1), South Carolina (2), Notre Dame (3), Mississippi State (4), Florida State (5), Washington (6), Oregon State (7), Baylor (8), Duke (9) and Stanford (10). On the season, Duke has notched wins over No. 2 South Carolina, No. 12 Louisville, No. 14 Kentucky and No. 28 Virginia Tech (RPI rankings). The Blue Devils have hit 14 of their last 27 three-pointers in the last two games. It marks the fi rst time since the month of November Duke has hit seven or more treys in back-to-back games. Senior Kendall Cooper needs six blocked shots to reach 100 for her career. Duke is 11-0 at home and 6-3 on the road. Rebecca Greenwell (1,262) needs only 19 points to move into a tie for 20th on Duke s all-time scoring list along with Sheana Mosch (1,283). In ACC games only, Lexie Brown ranks second in free throw percentage (96.0), fourth in scoring (17.3) and fi rst in steals (3.3). Junior Erin Mathias dished a career-high six assists at Boston College Sunday. The trio of Kyra Lambert (10), Rebecca Greenwell (18) and Lexie Brown (29) combined for 57 points versus the Hokies, which was two points shy of what Virginia Tech scored as a team (59). Duke currently boasts two scorers averaging over 16.0 points a contest -- Lexie Brown (17.5) and Rebecca Greenwell (16.7). The Blue Devils have not featured two scorers averaging over 16.0 points since the campaign (Kira Orr ; Ty Hall ). With a 5.3 per game average, the Blue Devils lead the ACC and ranks 30th nationally in blocks per game. Duke has averaged only 13.5 turnovers the last four contests, while forcing 19.5 by its opponents. In ACC action, Kyra Lambert is averaging 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists. The Blue Devils are concluding a stretch where they are playing fi ve road games out of a seven-game ledger. With the win against UNC on Jan. 12, Duke is now 26-6 coming off a loss in regular season ACC games under Coach P. Senior Kendall Cooper has started each of the last four games and owns 10th starts this season. She has averaged 7.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 assists in those games. Through the fi rst 13 games, Rebecca Greenwell was averaging 20.5 points, but over the last eight contests she has averaged only 11.0 points and 5.9 rebounds. Owns an 18-3 overall and 6-1 league mark on the season. The Irish are 8-1 at home this season with the lone loss coming against top-ranked UConn. On the season, Notre Dame has been led by Brianna Turner (14.7 points, 7.4 rebounds), Arike Ogunbowale (14.6 points, 30 treys), Marina Mabrey (13.1 points, 38 treys) and Lindsay Allen (9.1 points, 154 assists). Blue Devils Versus the Irish... In two games last season, Kyra Lambert averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists against the Irish. She drained 4-of-9 treys in the contests. Rebecca Greenwell has faced Notre Dame three times and has averaged 8.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She has hit 4-of-11 treys. In her two years at Maryland, Lexie Brown faced the Irish three times and is coming off notching 20 points, two assists and three steals in 35 minutes. Coming off helping lead 14th-ranked Duke to victories over 17th-ranked Virginia Tech and Boston College, Lexie Brown was named ACC Player of the Week. Brown averaged 25.5 points, 3.0 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists over the two contests. She hit 60.6 percent of her fi eld goals and 55.6 percent from downtown as she drained 5-of-9 treys. Over her 64 minutes of playing time, Brown did not commit a turnover. Against the Hokies, Brown registered a game-high 29 points to go along with four assist and three steals. 3 Duke Basketball She closed the week with a game-high 22 points, three steals and three rebounds at Boston College. Prior to the week, Brown had scored only 28 points in a stretch of three games. Big Second Halves... Duke has brought great defensive intensity to the court in each of the last three second halves against NC State, Virginia Tech and Boston College. In those three games, the Blue Devils have allowed 31.7 points, 39.3 fi eld goal percentage, 13 three-pointers and a 33.3 three-point fi eld goal percentage in the fi rst half. Then in the second half, Duke has limited opponents to 21.0 points, 25.0 fi eld goal percentage, six treys and a 15.4 three-point fi eld goal percentage. Duke has averaged 38.3 points, hit 48.9 percent from the fi eld, 47.1 percent from downtown and held a +3.3 rebound margin. The Blue Devils have outscored opponents in the second half, while being outscored in the fi rst half in those games. Gorecki to Redshirt... After missing the fi rst 20 contests of the season, head coach Joanne P. McCallie announced this week that sophomore Haley Gorecki will redshirt the campaign. Gorecki, who hails from Palatine, Ill., competed in 14 contests before being sidelined with a hip injury in Trio Providing Big Scoring... The trio of Lexie Brown, Rebecca Greenwell and Kyra Lambert have become one of the top trio of scorers in the league averaging 43.6 points a game. This has been even more prevalent the last two games averaging 53.0 points. They have hit 16-of-26 three-pointers in those two contests for a 53.9 percentage in those two games. Home Versus the Road in ACC Play... Duke owns a 3-0 record at home in ACC play, but when on the road is 2-2 this season. The home wins also include victories over two ranked teams -- No. 8 Louisville and No. 17 Virginia Tech. The Blue Devils have averaged 70.7 points and hit 46.0 percent from the fi eld in those home games, but on the road averaged 59.8 points and hit 40.1 percent from the fi eld. From three-point land, Duke has hit only 28.6 percent on the road and 32.6 percent at home. Lexie Brown has averaged 19.3 points in those home games and 15.8 points on the road. Duke s assist/turnover ratio at home is 40/36 in those games and on the road has been 47/73. Another School Record... The Blue Devils set a new school record Jan. 19 against Virginia Tech as Duke drained all 17 of its free throw attempts. It broke the previous mark of 16-of-16 against Stanford March 26, It is also the second-best output in ACC history as NC State holds the mark with a 19-of-19 ledger in 1985 against Georgia Tech. On the Road... Duke snapped a two-game road losing streak with its win at Boston College Thursday. Overall, the Blue Devils have a 6-3 mark away from Cameron this season. Rebecca Greenwell has averaged a team-high 16.1 points, while pulling down 5.8 rebounds, dishing 2.9 assists and grabbing 1.6 steals. She has hit only 4-of-18 three-pointers though the last four contests. Lexie Brown owns averages of 14.8 points, 3.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 steals on the road and is coming off a team-high 22 points at Boston College. Crystal Primm has scored in each of the last fi ve road contests. Lambert Gives Scoring Boost... Kyra Lambert recently totaled three straight double-digit scoring games for the fi rst time in her career. The sophomore has scored 10+ points in fi ve out of the last six contests. She has averaged 11.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals over the last six games. Lambert has hit 51.0 percent of her fi eld goals and 7-of-13 three-pointers during that stretch. Lambert has scored double-digits in 16 collegiate games and 12 of those have come over her last 23 games. The guard has opened the season scoring double-digits in 10 of the 20 games and is averaging 9.4 points. She had a career-high 17 points versus Grand Canyon as she hit 6-of-10 fi eld goals. In six contests against ranked opponents, Duke has totaled a 4-2 record with both losses coming on the road. Lexie Brown (15.3 points, 2.7 steals), Rebecca Greenwell (13.3 points, 6.2 rebounds) and Kyra Lambert (9.0 points) have led Duke in scoring. Duke has averaged 63.7 points, hit 42.5 percent of its fi eld goals and 32.9 percent from downtown. In those games, the Blue Devils have been outrebounded by 4.2. Brown Nets ACC Record... It didn t take long for redshirt junior Lexie Brown to make her mark in the Duke record book. Brown drained 56 straight free throws until a miss at NC State, which was a new ACC record and the sixth-longest streak in NCAA history. It snapped Jennifer Howard s mark of 40, which was the previous ACC mark. Brown broke the previous Duke record of 37 held by Chelsea Gray. The NCAA record currently stands at 70 by Lauren Prochaska of Bowling Green (Nov Dec. 21, 2010). Brown has hit 74 free throws on the year, which ranks second in the league. Odom Keeps Getting Better... Freshman Leaonna Odom had scored nine points in three ACC games leading up to the North Carolina contest. Redshirt junior Rebecca Greenwell broke the Duke single game record for most three-pointers made with eight at Pepperdine, while also attempting a Blue Devil record 16 treys. The mark was previously held by Nicole Erickson and Jessica Foley with seven. Greenwell has drained fi ve or more treys three times this season and is hitting 42.7 percent from downtown, which ranks 11th in the ACC. Greenwell now owns the Duke record for threepointers made in a game as well as the national high school mark of 17. One of Tallest Teams... Duke continues its theme of having tall teams in as the Blue Devils will feature the tallest team in school history standing an average of inches. The average height beat out the and squads that averaged a height of inches. Duke is the second-tallest team in the ACC with a 6-1 average, while Virginia holds the tallest squad standing 6-1 (75.58). The Blue Devils feature 10 players standing 6-0 or taller and seven at 6-2 or better on the roster. The seven players at 6-2 or taller is tied with Virginia for the most in the ACC. In 2014, the Blue Devils hit 40.7 percentage, while in 2013 Duke drained 40.5 percent from downtown. Schubert to Miss Season with Torn ACL... Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie announced Blue Devil freshman Emily Schubert will miss the campaign, after suffering a torn ACL during practice. The 6-4 center will apply for a medical redshirt and have four years remaining. Schubert, a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., was an All-Region, All-District and All-Conference selection in her fi nal year at Elizabethton H.S. She led her high school squad to a overall record with four district, regional and sectional titles. As a senior, Schubert averaged 11.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks. Duke Captains... The Blue Devils feature three captains in as senior Oderah Chidom, redshirt junior Lexie Brown and redshirt junior Rebecca Greenwell were selected by the team. It marks the second straight year Greenwell and Brown have been named captains. Duke Adds New Staff to Mix... Over the summer of 2016, Duke hired Ashleigh Beaver along with Pat Chasse to help with the women s basketball program.
