8 Player of the Week BOBBY SPEIGHT... Senior lbs Evanston, Illinois. A leading All-America candidate, Speight led the State team in scoring last year with 525 points, thus becoming the third man in Wolfpack basketball history to pass the 500 mark. The other two were All-America Forward Sam Ranzino and All Southern Center Paul Horvath. Speight is undoubtedly one of the finest players in State cage history. He is fast as lightning and uses his height to excellent advantage. Coach Case rates him the fastest big-man in college basketball today and praises him for his willingness to learn and improve. Bobby is a dangerous scorer from any spot on the floor, has a great one handed outside shot and works hard off the backboards to score many points on tap-ins. Professional scouts say Bobby will make a great star and rate him near top of their draft lists. But Speight likely will not see much of the pro circuit for he is due to enter the Army upon completion of his R.O.T.C. work next June. Speight s versatility makes him an even finer star. He canplay either center or forward and does a great job at either position. A native of Raleigh, N. C., Bobby now calls homeevanston, Ill.
