Great rebound man. Likely to be paired with Ranzino as starters. Sophomore. #78 Victor Bubas, Gary, Ind. 6 2 Guard... Great defensive player and one of the finest set-shots on club... Very deceptive dribbler and drives for basket well... Selected All-Southern last season, All-Dixie Classic, All-Southern Conference tourney... Team man of highest caliber... Always hustling and sparks club through some tough times... Field goal percentage of 40 percent highest on team and would score more points if he made more attempts. Shot fewer times last year than any regular on squad... Senior... Married, one child... Three year veteran. #80 BOBBY SPEIGHT, Akron, Ohio 6 7 Forward... i85-pounds... Sophomore... Number two scorer on frosh team last year, averaging 11.3 points in 24 games. Tallied 273 points.. Fine shot from outside and works many tip-ins off backboard... Born in Raleigh, N. C., but moved away as child ls rated as fine prospect and should have impressive season. #75 LEE TERRELL, South Orange, N. J. 6 0 Guard... Excellent ball-handler and defensive man... Has improved shot this year and may become more potent scorer. Last year he scored only 42 points in 27 games... Scrappy type and loves game... Has improved a great deal as a result of experience in Catskill Mountains this past summer... Junior... Earned letter last year. #85 EDDIE MORRIS, Winston-Salem, N. C. 6 5 Guard... ZOO-pounds... Guard Roger Thompson Rated the best two-handed set-shot on the Furman team, Thompson stands five feet, 10 inches. Very fast and leads the current team down court on the fast break. Hails from Green Bay, Wisconsin and attended the same high school State s Warren Cartier played for in 1940 and 194]. No. 3. Forward Eddie Edwards A product of Corbin, Ky., where he was a standout performer in high school, Eddie Edwards is Furman s top scorer and rebound man. His one-handed shot is one of the best and he is very aggressive off both offensive and defensive backboards. A senior, Edwards stands six feet, three inches and weighs l65 pounds. Guard Skip Ellmers Good outside one-handed shooter, Ed (Skip) Ellmers, stands five feet, eight inches and hails from Louisville, Ky., where he was a high school standout. Although Skip saw limited service last year as a varsity reserve, he s being counted on extensively in Furman s hopes for the season. Forward Red Watson A native of Greenville, S. C. Edwin (Red) Watson, No. 10, is one of the really promising stars of this year s Furman squad. A husky l90-pounder, who stands six feet, two inches, Watson is invaluable for his scoring ability and rebound work. He earned a letter as a sophomore last season and this season as a junior is due to have his best year. CENTER DON WHAM Big aggressive Don Wham, No. 7, is one of the leading candidates for this year s Furman basketball squad. He stands six feet, three inches and tips the scales at l95-pounds. Starred on football squad at end for four years, but is playing his first season of basketball this season at Furman. Hails from Greenville, S. C., where he was an All-Southern high school cager.
