1 EIGHT IS ENOUGH MONDAY NIGHT 8-BALL LEAGUE, RULES, POLICIES AND CODE OF CONDUCT (Revised April 5, 2018) Purpose of Monday Night 8-Ball BCA League: The purpose of this mixed league is to provide a venue for social, competitive play for all levels of pool players. The duration of this session will be weeks. Signing up for this league is a commitment. If you are unable to commit for a majority of the time, please sign up as a substitute. When you join, you agree to follow the League s rules, policies; Official Rules of CueSports International (as used by the BCAPL and the USAPL); and, The Villages Code of Conduct. The League s rules and policies will be posted on the League s website: The Official Rules of CueSports International can be viewed online at: The Villages Code of Conduct is posted on The Villages website: League Fees: A $12.00 per session League Fee is collected for awards and a dinner party at the end of each session. Regular players pay League Fees. Substitutes do not. This is not a sanctioned BCA league and no sanction fees are collected. Average/Handicap: Individual averages will be based on cumulative points earned each week divided by the actual number of weeks played. At the beginning of each session, handicaps will be brought forward from the previous session(s). New individual averages will be established only for new players. Weekly team averages will be based on the sum of the averages of the five players playing that week. The lower team average will be subtracted from the higher team average to determine total handicap for the match (five games). All averages are listed on the League s website.

2 Teams: There are teams with six players per team. Teams, players and their phone numbers are on the League s website. Five players will play each week. A rotation system will be set up by each team Captain to ensure all six players participate equally. The rotation system should be flexible to allow team members to sit out when needed. Substitutes will only be used when a regular team member(s) is not available. All Teams will rotate in and out of Bacall, Allamanda, Bridgeport and O Dell Recreation Centers. The schedule for each recreation center is on the League s website. The field of players will be divided into three (3) groups. Players with the highest handicaps will be labeled A players. Players with the next highest handicaps will be labeled B players. Players with the lowest handicaps will be labeled C players. ABC ratings will be based on your average handicap at the end of each session. The intent of the ABC rating is to equalize the teams for social play. In addition, new teams are established at the beginning of each session. Each team will appoint their own Captain and decide on a team name. All Captains must bring a score sheet and team members averages each week. Averages and score sheets are available on the League s website. Captains will ensure the score sheets are complete and that a copy is sent to the League Operator as soon as possible. If you have a smart phone, you can take a picture of the score sheet and TEXT it to my smart phone at If you don t have a smart phone, get someone else in the billiard room to do it for you. In the event a Captain is not available, a team member is required to perform the Captains duties. Substitutes: If you play as a permanent member on a team in this league, you cannot substitute for another team on the league. The League Operator will

3 maintain a list of substitutes, their averages, and their phone numbers on the League s website. Players are encouraged to use the League s website to obtain a substitute. If you are an A player, you should try to obtain an A sub. If you are a B player, look for a B sub and if you are a C player obtain a C sub. Substitutes will only be used when a regular team member(s) is not available. Be sure to check with the player sitting out that night to see if they are available, before calling a substitute. If a regular team member is not available, use the Substitute List on the League s website. If no one is available on the Substitute List, you may bring in a new substitute. Please provide the new substitute s full name and telephone number on the score sheet so his/her name can be added to the sub list. Score Sheets: 1. Enter the full name of each team member on the score sheet. If a substitute is used, put SUB by their name. If they are a new substitute (not listed on the website), enter their first and last name, and their phone number on the score sheet. A new substitute s average will be determined after playing five games. If a team has a NO SHOW player, the NO SHOW player will receive zero points and the opposing team will receive 10 points. On the score sheet, enter the player s name and enter NO SHOW. Opposing team members scores for NO SHOW matches will not be considered for awards. It is a HUGE disadvantage to your team and the League if you do not show up. Be sure you make arrangements for your 6th player to show up or obtain a substitute! It is also a good idea to let your Captain or a teammate know that you have a sub. Recurring NO SHOW players will be evaluated to determine if it is more feasible for them to a substitute. 2. The B in the shaded blocks on the score sheet indicates which team breaks. In each block there are numbers (e.g., 1-6, 2-9, 3-7, etc.). These numbers correspond to player names and indicate the two players that play each other. 3. Team averages will be based on the sum of the averages of the five players playing for a given week. The lower team average will be subtracted from the higher team average to determine total handicap for the match. Team Handicap, if applicable, is divided by 5 to determine the handicap for each round. Uneven amounts are added to the last round(s) in increments of one. The team with the lower team average will receive the team handicap.

4 4. At the end of the match, ALL rows and ALL columns are added. The score sheet is not considered complete until all totals have been calculated and balanced. HINT: The vertical total column and the horizontal total row (without team handicap) should equal. If it doesn t equal, you ve made an addition error and will need to recalculate. 5. Break and runs, perfect scores and noteworthy sportsmanship should be annotated on the score sheet. This data is used for special awards and is captured only if you report it. LEAGUE RULES, POLICIES AND CODE OF CONDUCT: The League s rules, policies and code of conduct are established to maintain a safe, pleasant and comfortable playing atmosphere. Players are encouraged to submit suggestions and/or recommendations regarding changes to the rules and policies to the League Operator. Each player is responsible for knowing the rules and following them. All players are expected to exhibit good 8-Ball sportsmanship. This means abiding by the League s rules, calling fouls on yourself, notifying your opponent they have ballin-hand and treating your fellow player the way you would expect to be treated. Every individual on the League has the right to be treated with respect. No one should be disparaged or criticized in front of teammates. Bring complaints or concerns to the League Operator. Your complaints or concerns will be investigated. Please respect the equipment provided by the Recreation Centers. Use the chalk provided and report equipment problems to the League Operator. After your team has completed your match for the evening, please rack the balls, return break sticks to the hanging cabinets, and store bridges in the brackets on the side of the table. Return all stools back under the counters. Place all coffee cups and other refuse in the trash containers provided. It is everyone s responsibility to help clean up!

5 The league has two local rules. One local rule is to allow coaching for players with a handicap of 34 or below. Coaching will be allowed twice each game with a time limit of 20 seconds for each request. The player must request coaching no one can approach the player. Coaching without a request from the player will result in ball in hand for the opponent. The second local rule regards tardiness. Starting time may be delayed no more than ten minutes. At 6:40 pm, per the recreation center clock, play must begin. The tardy player may be placed at the end of the line-up. However, if the player is not available when it is his/her turn at the table, the round will be forfeited with a score of 0 for the tardy player and 10 for the opponent. If the tardy player arrives before the start of his/her next scheduled round, they may play the remaining four rounds. Play well and have fun!
