Here is a current list of Division Reps, the nights they are working and their numbers: Sunday: Ashley Okvist Tom Meyers Monday: Tom Meyers Lena Rapisarda Tuesday: Ashley Okvist Stephanie Fatigati Wednesday: Stephanie Fatigati Thursday: Kannika Hatzakorzian Mike Nelson Please call the Division Rep listed on your scoresheet. Each Division Rep is assigned to a different night with a partner. If one doesn t answer right away, call the other. They are here to help you on play nights with rules questions and to solve disputes. Please get in the habit of calling them. APA Official Team Manual rulings apply except as noted in the following pages. GENERAL RULES 1- Any team that drops out early will still be responsible for the remainder of the session s weekly dues. A team that is consistently late with dues will have to pay the next sessions last two weeks up front as well as any money owed from previous sessions. In addition, any individual player that owes money from one team and is due prize money from a different team will have to forfeit their share of the prize money and will not be allowed into any tournaments until the amount due is paid. 2- The League Office will not interfere with player/team problems due to personal issues with a Host Location. If a player is not allowed in a Host Location and your team is playing there, you will have to make do without that player that night. There will be an automatic 2 week suspension (minimum) for players who have past issues and feel the need to continue an argument on play nights. 3- Play is scheduled to begin at the start time, there is no grace period! Only one player from each team is necessary to begin. If there is a player available, he/she cannot choose to wait for the Team Captain to show to begin. If no players are available at start time, you MUST call your Division Rep to receive your first forfeit. After 15 minutes, you can call again to receive the 2 nd forfeit and after 30 minutes, your team will receive a full forfeit for the night. Forfeits are worth 10 points (8 + 2 bonus) in 8-Ball & 90 points ( bonus) in 9-Ball. Full weekly dues are collected for all scheduled matches. 4- Make-Ups: There will be NO walk in make ups allowed. If a team needs a full team make up, they must contact the league office at least 48 hours in advance. Otherwise, players may utilize the new Playback Rule. 5 - Playback Rule: Teams may use this rule TWICE per session and only once in a night. It may not be used in playoffs or Higher Level Tournament. If your team is short a player on a given night, you can notify the other team before the 3 rd match is over that you will be utilizing the Playback Rule. You may play a member twice in that match. All members from your team that started the night must still be available to be chosen. The opposing team will choose the player to play the last match. The player chosen must keep your team within the 23 rule and the opposing team cannot choose someone to force the 23 rule to be broken. If both teams need to use the Playback rule on the same night, then each team will choose their own player.

6- If you haven t started your final match by 11:00 (or 3 hours past start for Sunday divisions) and there is an extra table available at your location, you MUST start the next match on that table it s not a choice. If your opponent refuses, please call your Division Rep and they will award a forfeit if necessary. Matches are ending too late & we all need to get home earlier! FEES & POINTS 1. Weekly dues are $45 per team, due each week, except when your team has a scheduled bye. Full weekly dues are due during playoffs as well. Weekly dues will be $50 per week starting in the Spring Session Membership dues are $25 must be paid by each member on THE FIRST NIGHT THEY PLAY IN LEAGUE EACH YEAR. Any players who are not paid by the 4 th week will be dropped from your team. They may be added back during week 5 or 6 ONLY IF their membership dues accompany the said week s sheet. All players who join in the fall session and pay the full membership will receive a pro-rated $15.00 renewal in the spring for the following League year. The amount each person owes will be listed on the score sheet during the session. Players need only to pay once per year and are covered for all areas. Once a membership is paid and sent to the APA in St. Louis, I cannot get the money back so please don t pay for someone unless you are sure you will get the money back from them. 3. There will be a $25 fee for bounced checks. If two or more checks are returned, only money orders will be accepted. We encourage team captains to pay by Chase Quickpay, Venmo or Google Wallet or by check or money order as we are not responsible for lost or stolen cash. All checks can be made out to: APA Pool League 4. Bonus Points will be awarded each week. Your team will receive 1 bonus point in 8-Ball and 15 points in 9-Ball for sending in your sheet THE DAY AFTER PLAY with the proper amount of dues (weekly and membership). In addition, you will receive 1 bonus point in 8-Ball and 15 points in 9-Ball for making sure your scoresheet is filled out entirely! This includes names, member numbers, innings totaled, Defensive Shots, points totaled for each game AND at the bottom, etc. If your team consistently leaves boxes blank each week, you will not receive the extra point(s). Get in the habit of checking before you seal the envelope! 5. Byes and full team forfeits are worth 10 points (8 + 2 bonus) in 8- Ball and 90 ( bonus) in 9-Ball. Individual match forfeits are worth 2 points in 8-Ball and 15 points in 9-Ball with the exception of playoffs where an individual 8-Ball match is worth 3 and the 9-Ball is worth If you suspect a mistake or are missing any points from forfeits, makeups, byes that weren t scored or any kind of mistake, you MUST alert the League Office before the last two weeks of play. PLAYING RULES 1. You MUST keep times moving! The following aren t suggestions, they are the shot rules! Here are your time limits: Shot times: 20 seconds; 45 seconds for a special situation. Time outs: limited to 1 minute Player Selection: When ONE player is on the hill in 8-ball or ONE player is down to their last 10 balls in 9-ball, Both teams MUST put up the players for the next match. Whichever team is supposed to put up next, please do it. This way the players selected can put their sticks together, get a drink, use the restroom or smoke if they need and they can get on the table right when the previous match ends. We need to make our nights shorter! 2. Remember to mark your pocket on the eight ball as it will result in a loss of game if you don t. Chalk, Money and weapons are NOT acceptable markers. Wallets, special coins and chalk inside a special holder are ok.

3. Coaching: Coaches are allowed to place the cue ball in a ball-inhand (BIH) situation when a time out is called. Please use caution when positioning the cue ball in a BIH situation. When placing the cue ball, if you or your coach touches another ball with your hand or the cue ball, it is a foul resulting in ball-in-hand for the opponent. It is acceptable to move the cue ball around with the tip of your stick when you have ball-in-hand. Only the coach and the shooter are allowed at the table during a time out. It is permissible for the coach to talk with other members of the team but the coach should go to them and relay information back to the player. 4. A picture ID is the only accepted form of identification. Any team caught trying to pass one person off as another will be immediately suspended. Team captains do have the right to ask for ID on play nights so get into the habit of having it with you. Members must be at least 18 years of age to play in the APA. If you are under 21, it is up to you or your Team Captain to check with the host locations to make sure they allow that player to enter the establishment. If they do not, you will have to do without that player for the night. 5. If there is a question or controversy regarding a rule that cannot be resolved by the players or the Team Captains, you must call your division representative for a solution to the problem. Once the scoresheets have been signed and the teams have left the site, no action can be taken against anyone. 6. If a player declines the shot by physically handing you the cue ball, and you in turn hand it back declining your shot, a stalemate will be declared and the game will be replayed. In addition, if 6 Defensive Shots are taken in a row, one after the other, (3 by you & 3 by your opponent) a stalemate MAY be declared if both players agree and that game will be replayed. Remember, innings and Defensive Shots for that game do not get added into the total for the match. 7. If a player is setting up for their shot and accidentally moves a ball other than the cue ball, it is NOT a foul. The ball gets replaced to where it was as agreed by the opponent or placed by the opponent and the game proceeds. If the player moves a ball during or after their shot is taken, it must be moved back to where it was AFTER THE CUE BALL STOPS by the opponent and it is NOT a foul. If a ball is moved during or after the shot and the cue ball comes around and hits the moved ball in its new location then it is a foul resulting in ballin-hand for the opponent and the balls remain in their current location. Remember, once the cue ball is set in motion, you shouldn t touch anything on the table, wait until it stops to move balls back. SCORING & PATCHES The following abbreviations should be used: 8OB 8-ball on Break 8B&R 8 Break & Run 9OB 9-Ball on Break 9B&R 9 Break & Run SO8 Scratch on the 8-ball 8WP 8-Ball in Wrong Pocket 8OT 8-Ball sunk out of turn UMP Loss to unmarked pocket 8SOB 8 on Break & Scratch FO8 Foul on 8 resulting in loss of game All players will receive their first 8 on Break, 8 Break & Run, 9 on Snap and 9 Break & Run patch for free each session. Please write players name and patch earned in the fees section of the scoresheet. Please see website for more information on all other patches offered! 1. Defensive shots MUST be written down on scoresheets as they occur. If you do not know what a Defensive Shot is, see the definition in the back of the rulebook or ask your Division Rep. Bonus points may be taken away and handicap adjustments may be made if defensive shots are not written down. 2. PLEASE write all patches that are earned and wanted on the front of the score sheet in the fees section box or the message center area. In addition, please make sure you mark the boxes in the scoring area with a number if a patch is earned so it will appear on the patch report on the website. GENERAL APA INFORMATION The APA started in Suffolk County in 1994 and we have been running it since We run 3 sessions per year as follows:

Summer begins in mid-may and ends in August; typically a week session + playoffs. Summer is the first session you can qualify your team for the yearly Local Team Championship (LTC). Fall begins early in September and ends before the holidays in December with playoffs in January - typically a week session + playoffs. Spring begins in January and ends in May; typically a week session + playoffs. Sometimes there is a week off between each session, sometimes not depending on the days the holiday s fall. We usually do not play on New Year s Eve, Easter, Memorial Day weekend, July 4 th, Labor Day Weekend, Thanksgiving and Christmas. If St. Patrick s Day falls on a day where we have a lot of divisions that play in bars, we try not to schedule those divisions that night. Teams have all session to get their players scores in. Players must play the following amount of times with each team they play on AND have the following amount of scores to be eligible for tournaments: Playoffs: each player must play 4 times with their team during the session Tri-Cups: each player must play 4 times with their team during the session AND have at least 6 lifetime scores. LTC: each player must play 4 times with their team during the Spring Session AND have at least 10 lifetime scores. Singles Boards: players must be on an active team AND have 10 scores in the last two years in the venue for which they would like to compete. If player s win, they must stay on an active team until the regional tournament is over. National Scotch Doubles: Players must have 20 lifetime scores in the last two years. Other local tournaments: As stated on the flyers PLAYOFFS Every team in the APA makes the playoffs at the end of every session. The top teams in each division will make Tier-1 and the bottom teams will make Tier-2. In order for your team mates to be eligible for playoffs, they MUST play at least 4 ACTUAL matches with your team during the session. Forfeit matches do not count. The teams you will play are set according to the standings of each division. Exact formats can be found on the website under the captain s corner tab. Tie breaking procedures are as follows: Two teams tied - winner is decided by the team that has the better record in the head to head points between the two teams. If it is still a tie, it will be broken by whoever has won the most recent match. Three or More teams tied If all teams played each other the same amount of times during the session, the tie is broken by the team that has the best overall record when comparing the teams that are tied. If that is still a tie, the winner will be determined by the method listed in the rule book. General Rules/Section 31/Tie-Breaking Procedures: If three or more teams are tied, break the tie by matching the teams against each other according to which teams involved met first during the session. Determine a winner and the losing team will move to the bottom. The remaining teams will stay in and continue until a winner is found. Example: Teams A, B & C are all tied for 4 th place. Looking at the schedule, Teams A and C played each other first during the 1 st week of play. Team C beat team A so team A moves to 6 th place. Now we see that team B and C played each other during week 5. Team B beat team C so Team B takes 4 th place, Team C takes 5 th place and we have team A at 6 th place. Teams Tied that haven t met: It is rare to have teams that end up in a tie that have not played during the session. If this does happen, the winner will be determined by comparing the record of the tied teams against the highest placing opponent until the tie is broken and a winner has been found.

TRI-CUP TOURNAMENTS In order to be eligible to play in a Tri-Cup, you must have played at least 4 times with your team in the session the Tri-Cup is taking place AND you must have at least 6 LIFETIME scores. All winning teams from each division in Suffolk County will go into a hat and will be drawn to play each other at the Tri-Cup tournaments. What s the difference between Tier-1 and Tier-2? Here is an explanation Tier-1 Winning teams in each division will proceed on to the Tier-1 Tri-Cup tournament which is held within a month of the session ending. They will receive their choice of award different awards are offered and the End of session Award Flyer must be filled out and sent in. Each team will also receive $400 at the Tri-Cup tournament for showing up! Each team will play 1-2 team matches (depending on the draw) during the Tri-Cup tournament. Each Tri-Cup is played down to a certain number of teams - approximately 8-10 each session. Final winners will each receive another $400 in prize money and are now qualified to play in our Local Team Championship (LTC) which is held in May/June each year. All Prize money is awarded only at the Tri-Cup level. Tier-2 Winning teams in each division will proceed on to the Tier-2 Tri-Cup tournament which is typically held within a month of the session ending. Most teams will only have to play one round, some will play two. Winning teams will each receive a $400 cash prize. All teams that win their $400 will then move on to a Tier-2 play down where 2 winners from 8-Ball and 1 winner from 9-Ball will then become qualified for the Tier-1 LTC. (The Tier-1 tri-cup teams will play 1-2 rounds for the qualification and the Tier-2 will play 4-6 rounds to become qualified.)
