The Lady Tigers will be the first to compete on Friday at 1:30 p.m. CT with the start of the women s heptathlon competition. The action continues Saturday with the first field events of the meet at 10 a.m. followed by the first prelims on the track at 2:30 p.m. Sunday s finale kicks off in the field at 10 a.m. and on the track at 1:55 p.m. This year s NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships is scheduled for a tape-delay television broadcast to a national audience on ESPNU on Sunday, March 17, at 6 p.m. CT. Live streaming video of the meet is also available online at on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. The Lady Tigers have captured 25 national championships in program history while winning 11 team titles all-time at the NCAA Indoor Championships. In order to win their first NCAA Indoor team title since 2004, the LSU women must take down the three-time defending champion Oregon Ducks. The Lady Tigers captured a third-place finish in the final women s team standings for the third-straight season, scoring a total of 27 points in two days of action. The Oregon Ducks captured their third-straight NCAA Indoor team title with 49 points, while the Kansas Jayhawks finished as the national runners-up with 30 points. The Tigers also scored 27 points during the competition to claim a fifth-place finish in the final men s team standings at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships, marking their fifth-straight Top 5 finish in the meet. The Florida Gators won their third-straight NCAA Indoor crown on the men s side while scoring 52 points for the competition. LSU Track & Field in the National Rankings As teams prepare to wrap up the indoor season this weekend at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Lady Tigers are the nation s No. 1-ranked team and the Tigers are ranked No. 15 on the men s side in the new Top 25 power ranking released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers are the consensus No. 1-ranked team in collegiate track and field for the fourth-straight week as they ve claimed the top spot in both the Track & Field News Women s Dual Meet Top 20 and the USTFCCCA Top 25. While they are the No. 15-ranked team in this week s USTFCCCA Top 25 men s power ranking, the Tigers are ranked as high as No. 4 nationally this week in the final Track & Field News Men s Dual Meet Top 20 released two weeks ago. LSU Track Teams Own Impressive NCAA Indoor Streaks The Tigers and Lady Tigers are among the most consistent programs in collegiate track and field year in and year out, and that is certainly evident with their performance in recent years at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The Lady Tigers have taken home the bronze trophy in each of the last three seasons as the third-place team in the final women s team standings at the NCAA Indoor meet in 2010, 2011 and They have also earned a top-three finish in five of the last six seasons following back-to-back second-place finishes in 2007 and The Tigers are riding an impressive streak of their own as they have finished among the Top 5 teams in each of the last five years, including a fifth-place finish a year ago following four-straight fourth-place finishes from Duncan, Ernest Boast World-Leading Times in Friday night could be electric for the LSU Track & Field teams at the NCAA Indoor Championships as the preliminary and final rounds of the 200-meter dash are scheduled to run at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Ernest has actually run the two fastest men s 200-meter times in the world for the 2013 indoor season after sprinting to back-to-back indoor personal bests of in the prelim and in the final while winning the SEC Indoor title. Duncan is riding a hot streak of her own as she enters the weekend as the two-time defending NCAA Indoor champion in the 200 meters after setting three-straight indoor PRs in the event in her last three races. After running at the Tyson Invitational, Duncan ran in the prelim and in the final to win her third SEC Indoor crown in the event. Duncan Eyes More History in NCAA Indoor Kimberlyn Duncan already owns the distinction as the only sprinter in collegiate history to sweep both NCAA Indoor and NCAA Outdoor championships in the 200 meters in back-to-back seasons with her victories in 2011 and Duncan now has the opportunity to become the first sprinter in collegiate history to win three-straight NCAA Indoor gold medals in the 200 meters as the two-time defending champion in the event. She is certainly a favorite to defend her title as the NCAA and World leader for 2013 with a seasonal-best time of seconds. Duncan is already one of four women s sprinters all-time to win back-to-back NCAA Indoor 200-meter championships as she joins LSU s Muna Lee ( ), Indiana State s Holli Hyche ( ) and Texas Carlette Guidry ( ) on the list. There have been six men to win two NCAA Indoor titles in the event during their career, including Baylor s Michael Johnson ( ), Ohio State s Chris Nelloms ( ), UTEP s Obadele Thompson ( ), Clemson s Shawn Crawford (1998, 2000), Kansas Leo Bookman ( ) and Florida State s Walter Dix ( ). Duncan s indoor PR of ranks No. 2 in school history behind Muna Lee s indoor school record of clocked back in 2003 and ranks No. 5 in collegiate history on the NCAA s all-time indoor performance list. Forbes Seeks First Career Gold Medal at NCAA Indoors Senior Damar Forbes looks to go out with a bang in his final NCAA Indoor Championships with the Tigers as he is still in search of his first career SEC or NCAA gold medal in the long jump as one of the nation s leading performers in the event. Forbes has won seven silver medals in the long jump during his collegiate career, including his finish as the NCAA Indoor runner-up a season ago. He has also won back-to-back NCAA Outdoor silver medals in the event in 2011 and Forbes is coming off his third-straight runner-up finish in the long jump at the SEC Indoor Championships, where he had a seasonal-best jump of 26 feet, 5 3/4 inches to finish the event as the NCAA s No. 2-ranked performer in the event. The national-leading mark of 27-1 was set by Florida s Marquis Dendy during the competition at the SEC Indoor meet. 3 NOTEBOOK Duncan s 200m Winning Streak Snapped at 18 Victories Senior Kimberlyn Duncan saw one of the historic winning streaks in collegiate track and field snapped on Feb. 9 at the Tyson Invitational when she dropped her first 200-meter race in two years. Despite racing to a new indoor personal best of seconds, Duncan finished runner-up to the winning run of by Central Florida s Aurieyall Scott. It marked the first time in two years that Duncan had tasted defeat in a 200-meter race as her winning streak was snapped at 18-straight victories between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Ironically, her winning streak was snapped at the same meet in which it began as she won her first of 18-straight 200-meter finals against collegiate competition at the 2011 Tyson Invitational during her sophomore season with the Lady Tigers. Duncan has since reclaimed the NCAA s No. 1 ranking with a world-leading time of set in winnig her third-straight SEC Indoor crown. Scott remains the NCAA s No. 2-ranked 200-meter sprinter with her seasonal best of Duncan has her sights set on a third-straight NCAA Indoor crown in the event as she has already made history as the first sprinter in collegiate history to sweep NCAA Indoor and NCAA Outdoor titles in the 200-meter dash in back-to-back seasons with national championships as a sophomore in 2011 and as a junior in Junior College Transfers Make Immediate Impact for Lady Tigers The Lady Tigers find themselves in the NCAA championship hunt thanks in large part to a 2012 recruiting class that features a pair of junior college national champions from the famed program at South Plains College. Junior Natoya Goule is an NCAA Indoor title contender in the 800-meter run as the nation s No. 2-ranked performer in the event this season as she ran an indoor PR of 2:03.08 to finish runner-up to the 2:02.48 by senior teammate Charlene Lipsey at the SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 24. They remain the two fastest 800-meter runners in the country as they enter the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend. Junior Keri Emanuel is also one of the nation s top triple jumpers as she is coming off an All-SEC performance of her own at the SEC Indoor Championships, where she jumped a lifetime personal best of 44 feet, 2 inches to win the league silver medal in the event. Emanuel s performance is tied for the No. 3 spot in the NCAA rankings for the 2013 season. SEC Champion Hinton Smashes School Record Lady Tiger junior Denise Hinton is looking to cap a historic indoor season with All-America honors in the weight throw as the most prolific performer in the event in the program s storied history. Hinton made history at the SEC Indoor Championships as she became the first Lady Tiger in program history crowned an SEC champion in either the weight throw indoors or hammer throw outdoors. Hinton certainly lived up to her billing as the SEC s top weight thrower as she won her first career conference crown with a winning throw of 69 feet, 6 1/4 inches at the SEC Indoor meet held at Walker Pavilion at the University of Arkansas. Hinton has actually won all three weight throw events in which she has entered at the site of this weekend s NCAA meet as she took the title at the Razorback Invitational (67-6), Tyson Invitational (69-8 3/4) and SEC Championships. Hinton has broken her own school record this year as her seasonal best of /4 ranks No. 7 in the NCAA for LSU Athletes Win League-Leading Seven SEC Indoor Titles While neither the Tigers or Lady Tigers brought home the team title at this year s SEC Indoor Championships, the teams combined to win an SEC-leading seven event titles on the final day of the meet on Sunday, Feb. 24. Among those crowned SEC Indoor champions this year were senior Kimberlyn Duncan (60 meters, 200 meters), senior Laura Carleton (5,000 meters), senior Charlene Lipsey (800 meters), junior Denise Hinton (weight throw), junior Jasmin Stowers (60 hurdles) and sophomore Aaron Ernest (200 meters). LSU Track & Field walked away with an SEC-leading seven event championships at the SEC Indoor meet, followed by the Florida Gators with six wins and the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies with five wins apiece. Duncan, Stowers Join Lady Tiger Greats with SEC Victories Both Kimberlyn Duncan and Jasmin Stowers defended their SEC Indoor titles by winning their third career gold medals as Duncan won her third-straight SEC Indoor crown in the 200-meter dash and Stowers won her third-straight SEC Indoor crown in the 60-meter hurdles in leading the Lady Tigers during the meet. Duncan joined LSU great Muna Lee ( ) as the only sprinters in SEC history to win three-straight indoor crowns in the 200-meter dash, while Stowers joined LSU great Lolo Jones ( ) as the only hurdlers in SEC history to win three-straight indoor championships in the 60-meter hurdles all-time at the SEC Indoor Championships. Duncan was also awarded the SEC s Cliff Harper Trophy as the top individual point scorer during the meet as she added a win in the 60 meters and ran the second leg on LSU s bronze-medal-winning 4x400-meter relay for 21.5 points. Senior Siedda Herbert is the lone member of the winning mile relay at last year s NCAA Indoor meet as she teamed with former Lady Tigers Rebecca Alexander, Jonique Day and Cassandra Tate in taking the title in a time of 3:31.89 in the national final. The Texas Longhorns followed in second place with a silver-medal-winning time of 3: The Lady Tigers have run a seasonal-best time of 3:33.91 in 2013 with a foursome featuring Herbert, Duncan, Montenae Roye-Speight and Natoya Goule.
