1 Being an Oklahoma Sooner is a privilege. It s an identity. It s a legacy. Oklahoma athletes pursue excellence to honor the performances of the heroes who have gone before. They chase perfection to encourage the aspirations of those who will come after, knowing that their performances here are connected to everything that has been and everything that will be the Sooner Tradition. Oklahoma athletes are bound together by a common commitment. They compete to win, yet they understand the real rewards come from the doing; the pride lies in the process. They have much to live up to - expectations are high. Still, none could be higher than the ones they have of themselves. WELCOME LETTER Women s basketball is a part of the whole that makes that tradition. If you choose to become a Sooner, you inherit the expectation and become a part of the commitment. If you wear our jersey, you dive on the floor after every loose ball. You take charges, you play defense, you run the floor. You compete. You learn and you laugh and you work and you play with a passion that makes you perform like a champion. Being an Oklahoma Sooner is an all-the-time thing. It s what you do and where you go and who you are. And it s forever. That s the way it is with family. 6 THE TRADITION 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS ASHLEY PARIS Winning is an attitude that permeates the entire University of Oklahoma athletics department. Championships and postseason play are synonymous with every Sooner team. OU women s basketball exemplifies that commitment to excellence. The Sooners are raking in conference championships and national awards at an amazing rate and they continue to lead the charge in the classroom. With a balanced approach to work on the court and in the classroom, OU has cemented itself among the nation s most elite programs. SHERRI COALE OKLAHOMA BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE

7 THE BEGINNING Women s sports gained intercollegiate status at the University of Oklahoma in and the women s basketball program was one of the original six teams. Those six sports were coached by two women. Amy Dahl, whose official title was Head Coach of the Women s Athletic Department, headed up the volleyball, softball and basketball programs while Karen Dowd coached field hockey, swimming and track and field. During the initial year, the women s program was given a mere $42,000 to cover all six sports and the coaches salaries. There were no athletic grant-in-aids provided. Prior to that year, the women s basketball team was called an extramural sport which meant it was run exactly as an intramural sport but the squad competed against other schools from the state of Oklahoma. That program was funded through the Physical Education Department. OU ran off three straight regular season titles from 2000 to 2002, the only team in league history to do so, then the Sooners went 19-0 against Big 12 foes in 2006, to become the first team in men s or women s conference history to run the table through regular and postseason play. SOONERS TOP BAYLOR FOR TITLE SWEEP, In decisive fashion, OU was able to complete a three-game sweep and unify the regular season and postseason championships with a triumph over the Lady Bears. Tournament MVP Courtney Paris set a Big 12 record with 26 rebounds and 24 points. The Sooners limited All-American Sophia Young to 4-of-14 shooting and held the entire Baylor squad to a field goal percentage of.253 for the game. UPSET MINDED SOONERS FINISH WITH TEXAS, In what the media termed a punishing defeat, the sixth-seeded Sooner squad became the lowest seed ever to claim a Big 12 Postseason Championship with a win over regular season champs Texas. MVP Dionnah Jackson poured in 21 points and nine rebounds, while Maria Villaroel contributed 19 points. The Sooners became the first league team to win four tourney games in route to the title. BAYLOR NO MATCH AS OU CLAIMS FIRST TITLE, Oklahoma would not be turned away as it clinched a sweep of the Big 12 titles with a resounding win over Baylor in the 2002 championship game. MVP Stacey Dales led all scorers with 25 points, to go along with a team-best 11 rebounds. The Sooners were up 11 at halftime and never looked back as they claimed the first of three Big 12 Postseason Championships.

9 BIG 12 CHAMPIONS 2006 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS 2002 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS 2001 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS OKLAHOMA CLAIMS FIRST UNDEFEATED BIG 12 SEASON In terms of women s basketball, no team had ever gone undefeated in Big 12 play. That is until the 2006 Sooner squad did it. Picked fourth in the preseason Big 12 coaches poll, OU outdid the league s expectations by going 16-0 and outpacing the next closest competitor by four games. The team was young, with five non-senior starters and the statistical leader in true freshman Courtney Paris OU CLAIMS THIRD STRAIGHT TITLE DURING MAGICAL YEAR It was one of many memorable moments for the team that went on to the 2002 Final Four in San Antonio. OU went 14-2 in conference with road losses to Texas and Iowa State. Otherwise, the Sooners dominated, out scoring opponents by an average of 13.4 points per game. The squad was senior laden with Stacey Dales, LaNeishea Caufield and Rosalind Ross among Big 12 postseason honorees. ONE BLEMISH ON SOONERS ROAD TO BIG 12 TITLE At the time it established a conference record for the best mark in league history at The lone loss came to Iowa State and was followed by 14 consecutive victories, another Big 12 record at the time. The squad had just two seniors, Desiree Taylor and Sunny Hardeman, and its top three scorers were juniors. OU outpaced conference opponents by 14.5 points per game, which helped them to an 8-0 road record. BOOMER SOONER SEASON THE SOONERS 2000 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS SURPRISE SOONERS CLAIM FIRST LEAGUE TITLE At the time, no one saw them coming and no could have predicted that it would lead to a three-year run of dominance. That s exactly what happened as OU surprised the league and nation by finishing in a three-way tie with Iowa State and Texas Tech for the Big 12 Regular Season Championship. The Sooners went 7-1 at home and were led by Phylesha Whaley, who captured Big 12 Player of the Year honors as a senior. Four months ago, when the first women s college basketball poll of the season was released, this was where you found the name Oklahoma: last. Twenty-fifth to be exact. The prognosticators figured Sherri Coale s Sooners couldn t be much better, given that they were coming off a so-so campaign that saw them ousted in the NCAA Tournament s first round after winning just 17 games and splitting their 16 Big 12 contests. They d also lost two starters, including their second-leading scorer, Dionnah Jackson. And while they had the high school player of the year, Courtney Paris, coming in with her twin sister, Ashley, a Parade magazine All-American in her own right the know-it-alls who put together the poll had some doubts. 14 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS BRITNEY BROWN TOP NOTCH FACILITIES MARY JANE NOBLE It was the desire of University of Oklahoma Athletics Director Joe Castiglione to provide a first-class basketball facility for the school s men s and women s basketball programs. That vision came to fruition prior to the season when an expanded and improved Lloyd Noble Center reopened with a level of quality that s second to none. The improvements meet or exceed any provided for other NCAA Division I-A programs throughout the Big 12 Conference and the rest of the country. The expanded basketball arena has state-of-the-art facilities that assist in recruitment, training and development of each student-athlete. The expansion added approximately 63,000 square feet of facilities to the Lloyd Noble Center. It included two new full-sized practice courts, one for women s basketball and one for men. Both programs also added new offices, film rooms, training rooms, locker rooms, spa/sauna rooms and a full-sized weight room in the addition. The $17.1 million addition and renovation project has enhanced the Lloyd Noble Center for the wide variety of public events it hosts, including graduations, concerts and large meetings. These improvements include an expanded parking lot, renovated arena ceiling and a modernization of the electrical systems. With the project, the OU athletics department has became a national leader in creating equal and outstanding facilities for both its men s and women s basketball programs. Both women s head coach Sherri Coale and men s head coach Jeff Capel believe the practice facilities and upgraded team and coaching facilities have a tremendous impact on the success of their programs, particularly in the areas of recruiting top players and providing unparalleled facilities for training. Proof positive is the pair of Final Four trips the OU women s and men s teams made in , the new facility s first year of existence. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas echoed, Oklahoma s basketball facilities are magnificent - second to none. Everything is top of the line and very well conceived. These facilities communicate the same message the Sooners do through their play - a commitment to pursuing excellence. A HISTORY OF GENEROSITY In 1975, the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation of Ardmore made the first million dollar gift in OU history with its contribution to OU s campaign to build a multi-purpose arena. The arena was named to honor Lloyd Noble, the former OU Regent who established the Noble Foundation in In 1999, the foundation made a second exceptional commitment to the Lloyd Noble Center through its support of the $16.3 million project to renovate the original center and add first-class matching facilities for the men s and women s basketball teams. The Noble Foundation chose to have its gift honored by the naming of the women s side of the new facility in honor of Mary Jane Noble (pictured at left), a former OU Regent and an ardent supporter of women s basketball OKLAHOMA BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE

The permanent display was made possible by the generous gifts from the Oklahoma Tip In and Fast Break clubs. At the forefront of the area will be the center court display (pictured above, center) which will include two life size cases full of memorabilia, an OU basketball time line and eight flat screen televisions. 17 2002 FINAL FOUR The University of Oklahoma women s basketball program made history in 2002 with its first trip to the NCAA Final Four. The Sooners dominated NCAA action by winning five of its six games by an average margin of 21 points. After capturing the Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament titles, OU earned a No. 1 seed in the West Region and opened NCAA action inside the Lloyd Noble Center. With home court advantage, the Sooners advanced to the Sweet 16 with a pair of victories over Hartford (84-52) and Villanova (66-53). However, in order to advance to the Final Four, OU had to eliminate two Big 12 teams in NCAA West Regional action. First up was Texas Tech. Oklahoma handed the Lady Raiders a 10-point loss (72-62), before blowing out Colorado, 94-60, for the right to play in the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio, Texas. Oklahoma shocked Duke with an win in the NCAA semifinals before suffering a disappointing loss to national powerhouse Connecticut in the national championship game. 18 AWARD WINNERS 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS With team championships come individual honors. For Oklahoma that means marquee names like Stacey Dales and Courtney Paris. But it also means program builders like Molly McGuire, Phylesha Whaley, LaNeishea Caufield and Dionnah Jackson. You can call McGuire the pioneer. She was the first women s basketball star at OU. Her efforts from landed her at No. 2 on the OU career scoring list and helped her earn second team All-America honors in Whaley is OU s all-time leading scorer. When she finished her career in 2000, the Sooners had just won their first Big 12 Regular Season Championship. She started a fire that would lead to three straight regular season championships and the 2002 Final Four. For her work, Whaley was named a USBWA First Team All-American in Caufield was Dales tag team partner. The deadly scorer and lock-down defender collected 2,125 points in her career (No. 3 all-time) and a school-record 402 steals. She received All-America acclaim after her junior and senior seasons, in addition to being named 2001 and 2002 Women s Basketball News Service Defensive Player of the Year. Dionnah Jackson may have had the most complete skill set of any Sooner in program history. The combo guard could crash the boards, dish the rock and drive to the hole with the best. She earned honorable mention Kodak All-America honors after her senior season (2005) and was named a first team All-Big 12 performer as well. 26 OFFENSE IN MOTION 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS The motion offense is a staple of Sherri Coale s coaching philosophy. It allows for improvisation within a structured system. Players love the freedom of it. Sooner coaches love it because players develop in the system. They learn individual skills while entrenched in a team scheme. That was supposed to change in No more motion. No more fast breaking for OU with the arrival of Courtney Paris. The skeptics were wrong. OU was as dynamic and high scoring as ever. The posts ran the floor and on a few occasions they led the break. It was classic Sooner basketball. Offense at break-neck speeds, taking advantage of every slow step an opponent made. The result was an offense that scored 76.1 points per game, which was the best in the Big 12 and the ninth best in the NCAA. She played every position between one and four and could have easily been shifted to the five if needed. Jackson is arguably the most well-rounded player in OU basketball history and while she entered college as a unique talent, her skills were certainly refined and encouraged during her Sooner years. Thousands of athletes have graced the Norman campus over the last 30 years, but one thing remains the same they are always a Sooner. This couldn t be more evident than in the women s basketball program, which has produced many exceptional basketball players and even more outstanding women. From day one it is a priority of OU head coach Sherri Coale to develop well-rounded individuals. Add in the nationally-recognized efforts of the OU academic counseling staff and the end result has been tremendous. Coale and her staff make it a priority that former Sooners remain connected to the women s basketball program because, without them, OU wouldn t be the strong and growing program it is today. Through joint efforts of Coale, OU s development office and the alumni, Oklahoma hosts an alumni reunion every three years. 38 SERVING THE COMMUNITY KENDRA MOORE 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS The University of Oklahoma is committed to supporting the community that supports the Sooners. Playing for OU means being in the headlines, but it also gives Oklahoma student-athletes an opportunity to give back to Norman and the surrounding communities. Head coach Sherri Coale and the women s basketball team capitalize on this opportunity with the same passion OU fans bring to the local arena or stadium. No team in the OU Athletics Department has made more of a commitment to volunteer service than the women s basketball team. In fact, Coach Coale s squad is arguably as active as any team in Division I. During the most recent school year, the team was recognized by the OU athletics department for winning the inaugural Life Skills competition, which awards points for community service, team GPA and attendance at Sooner athletics events. Women s hoops beat out the women s cross country and men s tennis teams by a hefty margin. This passion and commitment to excellence on and off the court is seen in every women s basketball player at OU. Coale recruits players who are ready to accept the challenges and the responsibility of calling the University of Oklahoma home. Together they embrace the passion and commitments she brought to the program 10 years ago and they learn that winning is about more than the final score on the court. I want our student-athletes to learn through their experience here how important it is to volunteer to be a part of whatever community they decide to reside in when their playing days are over, Coale said OKLAHOMA BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE

40 NORMAN & OKC 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS 40 NORMAN - HOME OF THE SOONERS Norman is an ever-changing city of more than 100,000 residents. Located in the heart of the state, it has grown to become the third largest city in Oklahoma. Despite its continuous growth, it has maintained the spirit and serenity of a small, close-knit community. Since the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889, Norman has grown into a popular and smart city. The spirit of Norman and its citizens is unwavering and uncompromising. While other towns were clamoring to become the state capital, Norman residents wanted to have the first state university. When the first OU president got off the train and saw a prairie, he saw opportunity. As home to the state s premier educational institution, Norman boasts an excellent quality of life and is a city that thrives on and celebrates the diversity of its community. Legendary University of Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer called Norman a university town with a championship spirit. Norman continually exhibits its love for sports by hosting numerous local and national athletic events OKLAHOMA BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE 1 The Oklahoma City metropolitan area has a population of more than one million people. OKC is the largest city in the state and the 29th largest city in the nation. Norman is the third largest city in the state with more than 100,000 residents. Despite its growth, the city nurtures and maintains its small, college town atmosphere. Located just 18 miles north of Norman, the state s capital, Oklahoma City, offers all the trappings of a large metropolitan area within an easy drive. The average annual temperature in Norman. The area enjoys a temperate climate with mild winters, four distinct seasons with a warm spring and fall. Due to its central location, Norman is a quick 196-mile drive from Dallas. Roughly 20 percent of OU s students are from Texas and choose to come north.

41 LOUD CITY Oklahoma City s Ford Center is the temporary home of the New Orleans Hornets and 2006 NBA Rookie of the Year Chris Paul. OKLAHOMA CITY Oklahoma City, the state s capital, is located just 18 miles north of the Norman campus. It was the first city settled in the Land Run of 1889 because of its position at the center of the state. Oklahoma City offers a variety of attractions and activities different from any other place in the country. Oklahoma City sprawls across 625 square miles of America s heartland. The city s metro population numbers more than one million -- a third of the entire state s population. Oklahoma City has become a haven for exciting sports action. It is home to the NBA s Hornets, three minor league teams and is the host of the NCAA College Softball World Series. Located just southeast of downtown, Bricktown is Oklahoma City s entertainment and dining district. Restaurants with a total capacity of more than 4,000 seats, shopping, and a generous helping of turn-of-the-century charm has turned Bricktown into a hotspot for Oklahoma City nights. 42 7 STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCES 4 BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 3 BIG 12 POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 ALL-AMERICANS 42 THE ENDOWMENT PROGRAM THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING In April of 2005, University of Oklahoma women s basketball head coach Sherri Coale announced the Starting Five, supporters whose gifts established the first-ever endowed positions for the team, providing scholarships for student-athletes. The Starting Five donors are the family of Jimmie Austin of Seminole in honor of his late wife, Marie; the Jim and Christy Everest family of Oklahoma City; the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation of Ardmore in honor of Mary Jane Noble; and Bob and Ann Coleman of San Antonio, Texas, as well as an anonymous donor. Since January of 2006, the women s basketball program has announced five new endowed scholarships. The scholarships were donated by Wayne T. Dusty and LaFawn Biddle, John and Sue Gibbs, Robert and Doris Klabzuba, John and Mary Nichols and a joint effort from the Fast Break Club and Sooner Stilettos. The generous gifts raise the number of women s basketball endowed scholarships to 10. Our goal is to create a perpetual source of funding for the women s basketball program an idea that leads to self-sufficiency as well, OU head coach Sherri Coale said. The full scholarship support provided by these generous donors allows us to recruit the best and brightest student-athletes while increasing opportunities for mentoring and establishing special bonds that will tie generations of Sooners together, Coale continued, noting that the program establishes an ongoing connection between the donating family, the foundation player and the scholarship recipient, a current team member. Oklahoma Athletics Director Joe Castiglione said, This is an exceptional effort by so many special donors to create a permanent foundation for our women s basketball program. We are grateful to all of the donors who, through their generosity, have not only enhanced our ability to pursue academic and athletic excellence but directly support our mission of inspiring champions and preparing leaders. AUSTIN ENDOWMENT Marie Austin, a native of Maud, was an all-state basketball player for Vamoosa High School. Upon graduation, she received an offer to play professional basketball for the Oklahoma Redheads but chose instead to marry her childhood sweetheart, Jimmie Austin, and start a family. Avid OU supporters, the Austins were instrumental in the renovation of the OU Golf Course. Their son, Paul, serves as an OU Regent, and their son, Jimmie Lynn, serves on the Advisory Board for the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course. COLEMAN ENDOWMENT The Colemans, successful business owners, have been involved in and supportive of a range of academic and athletic endeavors at OU. They were an integral part of the improvements to the Lloyd Noble Center, and the men s basketball practice facility is named for Bob and Ann Coleman. They are the former owners of Texace Corp., the number one manufacturer of U.S.-made golf caps, hats and visors. Bob Coleman, a native Oklahoman and OU accounting graduate, is the former president and CEO of the San Antonio Spurs professional basketball team. EVEREST ENDOWMENT Jim and Christy Everest are loyal supporters of both OU s academic and athletics programs. Among their gifts to OU was the lead gift for an indoor athletics training facility, which is named in their honor. The Everests established the Jimmy Everest Center at the OU Health Sciences Center in memory of their son, who was a patient at Children s Hospital. Christy Everest, chairman and CEO of the Oklahoma Publishing Co., served as chairman of the OU Board of Regents. Jim Everest, an OU political science graduate, is a general partner of Everest Brothers in Oklahoma City OKLAHOMA BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE NOBLE ENDOWMENT Mary Jane Noble, an OU graduate, is a longtime fan and supporter of the women s basketball program at OU. The third member of the Noble family to serve on the OU Board of Regents, she was chairman of the board from 2002 through In 1972, the Noble Foundation provided OU with its first-ever $1 million gift to help build Lloyd Noble Center. In 1999, the Noble Foundation s gift of $8.17 million to renovate and expand the center set a national standard for philanthropic support of women s athletics and was, at the time, the largest single gift ever to OU athletics. TURNER ENDOWMENT CATON HILL HOW IT WORKS? Each endowed scholarship will connect with a women s basketball Foundation Player. This is more than endowing a position on the team. It is the opportunity to have a connection with a former player who filled that position while attending the University of Oklahoma and helped lay the foundation for what, and who, we are today. The Foundation Player will be the first member of the endowment scholarship family, followed by the first years recipient. Teresa Turner, a 1981 OU graduate, is the recognized foundation player for the endowment funded by an anonymous donor whose scholarship was awarded to Beky Preston, Albuquerque, N.M., senior. Turner, who lettered three times in women s basketball at OU, was one of the first female studentathletes to receive a scholarship at the university. She has been a staff member at OU for more than 10 years, serving the Athletics Department as an academic counselor for the football team as well as assisting the academic support and student life service.

43 BIDDLE ENDOWMENT GIBBS ENDOWMENT KLABZUBA ENDOWMENT The Nichols and Hynes Endowments are the most recent additions to the program. Both parties will be honored formally during the basketball season. NICHOLS ENDOWMENT HYNES ENDOWMENT BOOMER SOONER The generosity of the late W.T. Dusty Biddle and his wife, La- Fawn, has impacted nearly all parts of OU. The Biddles wideranging support has benefitted such areas as athletics, the College of Engineering, the Fred Jones Museum, Sarkeys Energy Center, Sooner Heritage Scholarships and the Sam Noble Museum to name a few. Dusty is an OU graduate who has served on numerous boards in support of his Alma mater. Like the Colemans and Mary Jane Noble, The Biddles played a key role in the expansion project of Lloyd Noble, where the locker room bears their names. John and Sue Gibbs are recent converts to the OU family. They met and married in Southern California where John graduated from Cal Poly Pomona. They spent 18 years in Dallas and Houston before moving to Ardmore in 1994 and quickly becoming two of OU s most loyal fans. John spends most of his time running an oil and gas company. John and Sue s main hobbies are the OU Women s Basketball program and their three grandchildren. In addition, John is currently serving his second year as president of the Fast Break Club. Robert and Doris Klabzuba, through the Klabzuba Foudnation, have set a standard of sharing their success by giving back to organizations that are meaningful to them. Their great generosity to OU has enriched academic, cultural and athletic resources throughout the campus. Bob is an OU graduate and CEO of Klabzuba Oil and Gas. He and Doris are Founders of Sarkeys Energy Center and have established several endowments. In addition to financial support, Mr. Klabzuba has been steadfast in offering his time and talents to OU for decades. John and Mary Nichols have been committed OU supporters for more than six decades. In 1970, Mr. Nichols founded Devon Energy, which today is one of OU s most generous corporate partners, recently making a $10 million commitment to Devon Energy Hall for the College of Engineering. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols established the School of Dance s first endowed faculty position. They established the John and Mary Nichols Rare Books and Special Collections at Bizzell Memorial Library. Additionally, they founded the Nichols Graduate Business Center in downtown Oklahoma City to give employed people opportunities to pursue their MBA degrees. Generous donations by the OU Fast Break Club and the SoonersStilettos made the Marita Hynes Endowment possible. The two booster organizations chose to honor the former Oklahoma employee who served the university for 27 years as a head coach, administrator and senior woman administrator. Hynes has been called a pioneer in women s athletics over the last quarter century. Growing up in an era when females were treated as secondclass citizens in the sports arena, she spent much of her adult life championing equal rights and a level playing field SEASON THE SOONERS THE ENDOWMENT CONNECTIONS ENDOWER: MARIE AUSTIN ENDOWER: JIM & CHRISTY EVEREST FOUNDATION PLAYER: STEPHANIE SIMON FOUNDATION PLAYER: CATON HILL RECIPIENTS: LAUREN SHOUSH & COURTNEY PARIS RECIPIENT: ERIN HIGGINS THE STAFF ENDOWER: BOB & ANN COLEMAN FOUNDATION PLAYER: PHYLESHA WHALEY RECIPIENTS: ANTOINETTE WADSORTH & KRISTA SANCHEZ ENDOWER: MARY JANE NOBLE ENDOWER: ANONYMOUS ENDOWER: WAYNE T. 45 BOOMER SOONER SOONER STILETTO CAREER NETWORK One of the most exciting things about being a Sooner Stiletto is having the opportunity to strengthen that link between Division I female student-athletes and women business and community leaders. The Sooner Stiletto Career Network is a program that matches our OU Women s Basketball players, who are preparing for careers, with successful women who have experience in a particular field. Each year the entire team meets individually with the Sooner Stiletto leadership group to discuss career and life plans. As a result of those meetings, the student-athletes are matched up with stilettos to assist with career and life plans. These matches can result in job shadowing opportunities, internships, mentoring or leadership training. The program we created with the Sooner Stilettos is a branch of the OU Career Network. The opportunities for the OU student-athletes and the stilettos are endless.
