2 OKLAHOMA AND STANFORD: Oklahoma women s basketball has played Stanford University seven times in its history, including four times in the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners hold the 2-5 record when playing the Cardinal and the 1-3 mark when playing them in the NCAA Tournament. The last time the Sooners played the Cardinal was in the 2010 Final Four. Stanford took the victory over Oklahoma in San Antonio to reach the championship contest. The last time the Sooners defeated the Cardinal was in the 2001 NCAA Tournament Second Round. The Sooners will battle fourth-seed Stanford University Monday, March 23 with a berth to the Oklahoma City Regional semifinal on the line. The contest is set for 5:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. SWEET SIXTEENTH: This season marks Oklahoma s 16th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 18th overall. The Sooners streak is the sixth longest active streak in NCAA Division I women s basketball. Two program s had their streaks end this season; Georgia s streak of 20 straight years and Vanderbilt s streak of 15 consecutive. Below is the current longest active streaks: 1. Oklahoma 16 years ( ) OKLAHOMA AND THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: This is the second time in school history the Oklahoma Sooners have been seeded fifth. In the first year OU made the NCAA Tournament under the guidance of Sherri Coale - the 2000 NCAA Tournament - it was selected as the No. 5 seed. That year, the Sooners made the Sweet Sixteen and fell to No. 1 Connecticut Since the 2000 season, Oklahoma has reached the Final Four three times (2002, 2009, 2010), including participating in one National Championship game in The Sooners have also reached the Sweet Sixteen six times (2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2013), and only lost in the First Round three times (2003, 2005 and 2014). The last time OU played a NCAA Tournament game in the Pacific Time zone prior to Saturday was during the 2004 season. The Sooners played in Tempe, Ariz., and won their opening round game against Marist before falling to the sixth-seed Stanford ABOUT THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS: Oklahoma women s basketball team ended their non-conference portion of the schedule with a sub-par 6-5 record. The Sooners went on to place second in the Big 12 Conference with a 13-5 overall mark and are now on the season. Oklahoma was picked fifth in the preseason poll of the Big 12 coaches. Oklahoma returned seven letterwinners from its squad that finished and 9-9 in the Big 12 a season ago. It has replaced three starters who averaged nearly 50 percent of the Sooners scoring in , including Aaryn Ellenberg, the second leading scorer in OU history and the 10th leading 3-point shooter in NCAA history. The Sooners boast one four-year senior and two juniors on a squad of 15. OU also returned redshirt sophomores Maddie Manning and Peyton Little. Manning returned after back-to-back season-ending knee injuries. Little, a transfer from Texas A&M, was eligible after sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules. The Sooners welcomed six newcomers to the squad: freshmen Gabbi Ortiz, McKenna Treece, Gileysa Penzo, LaNesia Williams, Vionise Pierre-Louis and senior Whitney Ritchie. Penzo will miss the season due to a knee injury suffered this past summer, while Ritchie joined the OU team after a stellar four-year tennis career at Oklahoma. BOTH OKLAHOMA WOMEN AND MEN IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: Oklahoma is one of 20 institutions to have its women s and men s basketball teams make the NCAA Tournament and one of eight to have both teams seeded five or higher. The Oklahoma men s squad was awarded a No. 3 seed. Other schools are: Louisville (W: 3, M: 4), Kentucky (W: 2, M: 1), Maryland (W: 1, M: 4), Duke (W: 4, M: 1), Notre Dame (W: 1, M: 3), Baylor (W: 2, M: 3), North Carolina (W: 4, M: 4). SOONERS YOUNGEST IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: Oklahoma women s basketball is the youngest squad in the NCAA Tournament. Of the Sooners 15 players, 12 are either a freshman, sophomore, redshirt sophomore or a first year member with the team. OU holds five freshman, four sophomores, two redshirt sophomores and a senior who is in her first season playing basketball after a four-year tennis career. They only hold one four-year senior and two juniors. Ohio State is the second youngest in the tournament with nine of its 12 players either being sophomore or freshman and Savannah State is third with 11 of its 15 sophomores

3 GAME 33 vs. Stanford March 23, 2015 Oklahoma Game Notes, p 3 NOTES AFTER WIN OVER QUINNIPIAC Oklahoma improved to in NCAA Tournament play, collecting its first victory since Oklahoma scored a season high 111 points, representing the third time this season the Sooners have reached the 100 point plateau. Gabbi Ortiz matched her career high with 16 points, leading six players in double figures. Prior to Saturday s game, Oklahoma s season high was four players in double figures. Scored a season high 57 first half points. The Sooners have totaled at least 50 points in a half on six occasions, with four of those occurring in the first half. The 27 point margin of victory was its third largest of the season. Made 13 three pointers, one shy of its season high total of 14 against Iowa State on Feb. 17. Dished out 27 assists, falling one shy of matching its season high. Received 61 points from its bench and outscored Quinnipiac in the paint. Reserves Maddie Manning (15), Vionise Pierre Louis (15) and McKenna Treece (14) each established careerhigh point totals. The post play of Kaylon Williams, Vionise Pierre-Louis and McKenna Treece combined for 42 points. They shot 16-of-21 (76.2%) from the field. The 111 points tied the 10th most points scored by a team in the NCAA Tournament. It also was the most points scored in an NCAA Tournament since Connecticut scored 116 against Hampton on March 17, It was the second consecutive season Oklahoma scored 100 points in its opening round NCAA Tournament game. The Sooners fell to DePaul in the 2014 first round. This was the first NCAA Tournament game for six players: Gabbi Ortiz, Vionise Pierre-Louis, Whitney Ritchie, Maddie Manning, McKenna Treece and LaNesia Williams. The six players combined for 64 points. STANFORD CONNECTION ON OKLAHOMA BENCH The Oklahoma women s basketball team has a Stanford connection on its bench. Graduate assistant Lindy La Rocque was a 4-year star on the Cardinal from Stanford reached the Final Four all four years La Rocque was a player. Stanford complied a overall record and an impressive 71-1 conference mark during her four years. The Cardinal also won four conference regular season titles and four conference tournament titles. NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR Redshirt sophomore Peyton Little was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Little has started 27 of 29 games in her first year of play for the Sooners after transferring from Texas A&M. She leads her team and is eighth in the Big 12 in scoring with 13.2 points and pulls down 3.4 rebounds a contest. In conference games, the sophomore guard improved her scoring average to 15.1 points to rank sixth. She led the Big 12 in free throw percentage (.860) and was second in three-pointers made per game (2.2) through conference play. The guard from Abilene, Texas is the third Sooner in school history to grab Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors. She joins the exclusive list with Portia Durrett and Yolanda Anderson who earned the award in 2013 and 2009, respectively. FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR Point guard Gabbi Ortiz was tabbed the Big 12 Freshman of the Year. Ortiz, also named to the Big 12 All- Freshman Team, has started every game at point guard for Oklahoma as a true freshman and helped the team to a second-place finish in the Big 12. She contributes 7.9 points and 3.6 rebounds a game while ranking eighth in Big 12 assists (3.6 apg), ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3) and 10th in 3-pointers made per game (1.4). In league contests, the rookie averaged 3.4 assists and had a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. She picked up two Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors. Ortiz is the sixth OU player to be named Freshman of the Year and the first since 2009 when Whitney Hand was tabbed. Others Sooners named Freshman of the Year are Danielle Robinson (2008), Courtney Paris (2006), Chelsi Welch (2003) and LaNeishea Caufield (1999). ALL-BIG 12 HONORS The Sooners had a total of five players garner All-Big 12 awards. Little was named to the All-Big 12 First Team, sophomore Gioya Carter and redshirt junior Kaylon Williams each were tabbed to the All-Big 12 Second Team and senior Sharane Campbell-Olds earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades and made the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. Ortiz also made the Big 12 All- Freshman Team. ACADEMIC ALL-BIG 12 Four Oklahoma women s basketball players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First team. Senior Sharane Campbell-Olds, junior Nicole Kornet, redshirt sophomore Maddie Manning and sophomore Derica Wyatt each represented Oklahoma on the 26-member first team. The Sooners added three student-athletes to the second team for a total of seven OU athletics recognized. Earning a spot on teh second team was sophomore T ona Edwards, redshirt sophomore Peyton Little and senior Whitney Ritchie. A total of 40 studentathletes made up the Academic Big 12 tea, with 26 on the first team and 16 on the second. Texas led all teams with eight total honorees, while Oklahoma was second with its seven. 4 GAME 33 vs. Stanford March 23, 2015 Oklahoma Game Notes, p 4 BY THE NUMBERS TWO The Oklahoma women s basketball team defeated its second top-5 team in the nation with a upset of No. 3/3 Baylor, Feb. 25. The victory was OU s first over the Lady Bears in 10 meetings and snapped Baylor s 25-game winning streak. The Sooners also upset then-no. 4 Texas Jan. 14. The win over the Longhorns was the first time Oklahoma had defeated a top-5 ranked team since when it defeated then-fifth ranked Baylor (66-58) in the two schools second contest of the season. The season was also the last time OU earned two top-5 victories. It grabbed the season sweep of the Lady Bears with a win in the opening contest. Baylor was then ranked No. 3/4. FIFTH Senior Sharane Campbell-Olds registered her fifth double-digit point performance of Big 12 play and the third in four games against Kansas, Feb. 28. Campbell-Olds finished with 11 points, second most on the squad. She also added 10 rebounds for her first double-double in league play and third on the year. Over the final five games of Big 12, Campbell-Olds is averaged 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. She also hit an impressive 45.7 percent (16-of-35) from the field and an even better 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from beyond the 3-point arc. TEN Ten of Oklahoma s 14 players are averaging double-figure minutes this season. Only five are averaging more than 20 or more minutes per game. Freshman Gabbi Ortiz leads the Sooners at 32.3 minutes a game. Peyton Little is second at 30.4 minutes per contest. Of the final four players who aren t in double-digit minutes, two are close: T ona Edwards is averaging 8.3 minutes per contest and McKenna Treece is averaging 8.1 a game. FOURTEEN Oklahoma sank 14 3-pointers - including eight in the second half - in its overtime loss at Iowa State, Feb. 17. The 14 3-pointers is a season-high and the most since the Sooners hit 17 against Oregon Nov. 24, The Sooners have hit double-figure 3-pointers in seven games this season: 11 versus Lamar (Nov. 18), 10 versus South Florida (Nov. 27), 13 against Duke (Dec. 17), 11 against Baylor and 11 at Kansas State (Feb. 21) and 13 against Quinnipiac (March 21) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In the win over Quinnipiac, Gabbi Ortiz drained four 3-pointers, while Maddie Manning hit a career-high three. Oklahoma is averaging pointers per contest. TWENTY-FIVE When the Oklahoma women s basketball team upset No. 3 Baylor Feb. 25 with its victory, it snapped the Lady Bears 25-game winning streak and was only the second loss for BU this season. Baylor had not lost a conference game since March 2, 2014 (vs. West Virginia) and not lost a road conference game in 403 days, dating back to Jan. 19, 2014 (at Kansas). It was the first time that the Sooners had defeated Baylor at home since February 21, They had lost the previous nine meetings against Baylor. THIRTY Peyton Little finished with a career-high 30 points in the Sooners win at Kansas State, Feb. 21. Little ended the regular season scoring 20 or more points in four of OU s final seven games. The last player to score 30 or more points was Aaryn Ellenberg. She had 36 against DePaul in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Little drained a career-high eight 3-pointers. She was one 3-pointer shy of tying an Oklahoma single-game 3-point record held by both Nyeshia Stevenson and Carin Stittes. Little hit four 3-pointers in each half. SIXTY-FOUR Six Oklahoma players saw their first NCAA Tournament action in the Sooners first round win over Quinnipiac, March 23. Gabbi Ortiz, Vionise Pierre- Louis, Whitney Ritchie, Maddie Manning, McKenna Treece and LaNesia Williams combined for an impressive 64 points and went 22-of-32 (66.7 percent) from the floor. They also combined for 22 of OU s 48 rebounds and 12 of the 27 assists. 111 Oklahoma women s basketball scored 111 points in its 27-point victory over Quinnipiac in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The 111 points tied the 10th most points scored by a team in the NCAA Tournament. It also was the most points scored in an NCAA Tournament since Connecticut scored 116 against Hampton on March 17, It was the second consecutive season Oklahoma scored 100 points in its opening round NCAA Tournament game. Kornet s brother Luke is a sophomore on the Vanderbilt men s basketball team and has drained 48 3-pointers this season, 21 more than sister Nicole. WELCOME BACK MADDIE Redshirt sophomore guard Maddie Manning returned to the hardwood after season-ending knee injuries derailed the previous two seasons. Manning, from Ankeny, Iowa, played six games - starting three - as a freshman in before an ACL injury halted her season. Last season, Manning again suffered an ACL tear - this time in her left knee - in the Sooners preseason intrasquad scrimmage. Manning saw her first action in 719 days when she played 13 minutes in the Sooners 10-point victory over Washington. The guard hit a free throw and was credited with an assist. PLAYING TOGETHER AGAIN Oklahoma freshman LaNesia Williams and sophomore T ona Edwards are once again playing together on the hardwood. Williams and Edwards stared together at Northwest Academy in Oklahoma City. The two helped Northwest Academy win the 2013 state championship and go undefeated at Edwards averaged 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds in 2013 and was tabbed the Oklahoman s Little All-City Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Williams averaged 15.8 in when she was a junior - and was named to the All-State Small West, Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association Team. OU SIGNS ONE FOR University of Oklahoma women s basketball head coach Sherri Coale announced the signing of prep star Ijeoma Odimgbe [E-joe-mah Oh-dim-way] to a national letter of intent. Odimgbe, who will join the Sooners for the campaign, is a 6-4 forward from Johnson High School in Savannah, Georgia. Odimgbe, who goes by EJ, is considered one of the best in the nation at her position and is currently ranked 19th at forward by ESPN HoopGurlz.
