IPI already provides staff "to more than 3,500 healthcare County collects $3.1 million in property sale facilities across the U.S.," according to its website. IPI will continue to operate in Noblesville. Both companies share a common passion and commitment to delivering real value and innovative solutions to the healthcare industry," said IPI Travel CEO Letha Engelman in the press release. "We are thrilled to partner with a company that shares our core values and together create even greater value for our clients and travelers. Homecoming royalty By FRED SWIFT Hamilton County Treasurer Jennifer Templeton collected $3.1 million in Thursday's annual sale of property on which owners had failed to pay property taxes. Most of the money was 'overage', the amount bid in excess of the delinquent taxes owed. Sixty six properties went to the auction sale conducted by SRI, firm hired by the county to collect back taxes. Of the 66 on the auction block, 18 did not sell. Of those that did sell, about $475,000 was owed in taxes and the remainder of the sale proceeds were collected in successful bid amounts beyond delinquencies. Owners have one year to redeem their property. In these cases the overage will be returned to the bidders in Thursday's sale. For those not redeemed, the county keeps the overage. Templeton said about 36 bidders showed up for the sale. Several hundred properties were originally slated for the sale, but many owners realizing their homes or other parcels would be sold, paid in recent days to avoid the auction. State law provides for the process of selling delinquent property, and designated the county treasurer as the official responsible for the sale. 8 8 Sports Millers power past Huskies By RICHIE HALL Reporter Sports Editor It was a perfect night for a Homecoming football game, and Noblesville gave its fans a perfect way to continue the celebration. The Millers beat Hamilton Heights 39-8 at Hare Chevrolet Field Friday evening. Noblesville was in control from start to finish - its offense was clicking in each phase of the game, and the Millers' defense played solid, not allowing the Huskies many opportunities. "I thought we did some things really well tonight," said Noblesville coach Jason Simmons. "One thing we had to do was control the line of scrimmage offensively." "I thought we did that. I thought our big guys up front gave us some running lanes. Got our tailbacks going." The Millers' offense played well, but it was the defense that got Noblesville on the board. Just one minute and 40 seconds into the game, Ben Gruver caught a Hamilton Heights interception, and ran it in 40 yards to score. "I thought we were flat at the start," said Simmons. "I thought when we got the pick six from Gruver, I thought our defense found another gear. That's more like we're capable of playing. We blended fronts a lot, from a three-man front to a four-man front tonight. That certainly helped us in the run game some." Noblesville scored in several different ways. The Millers' second touchdown came in the first quarter, with Tyler Gonzalez breaking out for a 38-yard run to the end zone. Simmons had to watch the game from the press box, as he was serving a one-game suspension from coaching. He did address his team after the game, and had plenty of good things to say. "We placed an emphasis on two things offensively in the last two weeks: Balance and our tailback run game," said Simmons. "I thought Chandler Hurst and Tyler Gonzalez proved to be a real good 1-2 punch tonight. We're starting to get those guys rolling a little bit, and it's a good feeling for us. We're playing with some confidence up front, which is big." In the second quarter, Noblesville quarterback Ryan Barnes got going. He threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Gruver with 38 seconds left in the half; that ensured the Millers a 21-0 lead at halftime. Jack Knight successfully kicked all four extra point attempts, and he added three more points late in the third period when he connected on a 30-yard field goal. That put Noblesville up The Millers got one more touchdown in the fourth quarter, when Luke Blevins jogged in from the one-yard line. Knight kicked that extra point, too, making him 5-for-5 on the night. The Huskies got on the board late in the fourth, when Jake Beale ran in to score from seven yards. Michael Overton made the extra point kick. That was the only time Noblesville's defense allowed Heights past the Millers 34-yard line. MILLERS From Page 8 "The encouraging thing defensively is we got people around the ball tonight, which was critical for us," said Simmons. "The last two weeks we've emphasized pursuit, and that's allowed us to get people around the ball and we're creating more takeaways, which has really helped swing the momentum of the game." Hurst led Noblesville's rushing, totaling 15 carries for 104 yards on the ground. Barnes was 7-of-10 passing, totaling 73 yards. He threw two passes to Ginther (including the touchdown), and one to five other receivers. Beale led the Huskies in rushing with 43 yards in 11 carries. "I got we got better this week, I thought we did some really good things," said Heights coach Mitch Street. "We moved the football against them, we just didn't put back-toback-to-back first downs together. Got a couple, and then we stalled out. "I think our kids played pretty good. It's just one of those things. With the numbers as they are, when we start losing kids and things like that, it hurts us." Street noted that some of his younger players came in and played well. "That's encouraging," he said. Noblesville hosts Hamilton Southeastern next Friday in a big Hoosier Crossroads Conference game, while Heights will play Twin Lakes at Lucas Oil Field next Saturday, Oct. 1.

10 10 Sports Sheridan blanks Trojans Sheridan used its defense and again the running of Joe Callahan to defeat Tri- Central 21-0 Friday evening at Homecoming at Larry Wright Field, and that victory wrapped up a Hoosier Heartland Conference East Division championship for the Blackhawks. Sheridan is 3-0 in the conference with only a game with Taylor remaining. We ve beaten the other three teams, so even if we were to tie for first place we still would be the winner, Wright said. The East and West winners will play for the conference championship on Oct. 14. Sheridan s defense held Tri-Central to 107 yards rushing and just 20 yards passing. The Blackhawks intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble. That s the first shutout we ve had in a while, Wright said. The defense really played well. Avery Bundy, Alex Gipson, Kyle Harwood and Hunter Pflugh led us. We took away the option from Tri-Central. Callahan, who went into the game feeling ill, carried the pigskin 37 times for 183 yards. Seventeen of those carries came in the first quarter. Sheridan used its famed ground game to crush the Trojans. The Blackhawks ran 59 times for 256 yards. Quarterback Drake Delph was the second-leading ground gainer with 48 yards in 10 trips. Callahan had another great game, said Wright. He played through some sickness tonight. Callahan opened the scoring with a four-yard run with 57 seconds left in the first quarter. Delph scored in the second quarter on a 27-yard run. Callahan, on a 24-yard run in the third quarter with 4:14 left in the third period, produced the game s only touchdown in the second half. Gunner Williams booted all three PATs and also caught all three of the passes Delph completed. Delph was 3-of-9 for 25 yards in the game. The win put Wright within two victories of reaching the 400-win career coaching mark. Sheridan will host Tipton next Friday. 12 12 Sports Carmel tops NC, Carmel exploded for 38 points in the middle two periods while defeating North Central in a MIC Conference game Friday on the Panthers home field. The Greyhounds threw a balanced offensive punch at North Central as Carmel moved to 3-3 on the year. Halsell Jake McDonald handled the passing, competing 8-of-17 for 159 yards, and Jerome Halsell exploded on the ground, carrying 20 times for 184 yards. Coghlan Halsell scored Carmel s first two touchdowns, both in the second period, and McDonald passed for a pair of TDs in the third quarter. Jalen Walker had three catches for 62 yards and five other Greyhounds each had one catch. We got off to another slow start, said Hebert, but then we put 17 points on the board before halftime. After North Central scored first in the second quarter, Merriweather Halsell had touchdown runs of 20 and 1 yard. Just before halftime, Jacob Abrams intercepted a North Central pass and returned the pigskin 30 yards. That set up a 40-yard field goal by Conner Coghlan on the final play of the half.
