2 Dedicated to John Mack Attention Coaches, Players, Parents and Officials Thanks to your support, the annual John Mack Tournament has become one of the largest indoor LAX contests in the country! The John Mack Foundation was founded in 2006 following the death of John Mack, a 17-year old Binghamton High School student. John died after suffering cardiac arrest while playing lacrosse at a facility that did not have an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). During a club lacrosse game, John collapsed in cardiac arrest after a stick check to his chest. It took 19 minutes to get a defibrillator to the field to restart John s heart. John suffered irreparable brain damage; he was removed from life support three days later and became an organ donor. John Mack Foundation s mission focuses on donating AEDs to non-profit organizations and increasing public awareness of sudden cardiac arrest. According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double, or even triple, a victim s chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest. By recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest and being able to respond quickly with CPR and an AED, you can become a vital link in the chain of survival. In the eleven years since John s death, the John Mack Foundation has donated over 100 AEDs to youth sports teams, first responders, community associations and churches. When every second counts, the knowledge that you are prepared for an emergency by having an AED close by and being knowledgeable on how to use it can make the difference between life and death. Parents, I beg you to never allow your loved ones to play any contact sport without AEDs and trained rescuers close enough to make a difference. Thank you for your support! 3 Field 3 Field 2 Field 1 John Mack Southern Tier Shootout Rules 1. Face-off at start of game only. 2. NO BODY CHECKS. Players must play the BALL at all times! This is a pre-season warm-up tournament. We do NOT want any unnecessary injuries. 3. Long poles max 2 per team. (Grand Masters allowed 3.) 4. Games are 40 minutes, running clock. 5. NO TIMEOUTS; If both teams want a 1 minute halftime in the middle of the game and/or to switch sides, let official know before game starts (clock keeps running). 6. Penalties are double (running clock). 7. BraveHeart for tie breakers. 8. All heads and sticks must meet NCAA regulations. 8 on 8 Format (2-3-2) 9. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FIGHTING. ANY INVOLVEMENT WILL RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM THE TOURNA- MENT. NO SECOND CHANCES! If the fight involves individual players, those players will be expelled. If the fight involves several members from one team, the TE will be expelled from the tournament. 10. Flagrant Fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct: 1st offense - expulsion from game 2nd offense - expulsion from tournament 11. Winners are determined by record, head-tohead play and least goals allowed. 12. If a game is ended early due to unsportsmanlike behavior, it is considered a forfeit by both teams.
