2 Introduction Euroleague Basketball and Adidas are pleased to announce the participation of the eight clubs that will compete for the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Finals. The 16th annual U18 Finals, held in conjunction with the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four, runs from Thursday, 17 May to Sunday, 20 May, 2018 in Belgrade, Serbia. The final to crown Europe's junior champions will be contested at Stark Arena, on the same court where some hours later the EuroLeague champion will be decided. The U18 Finals features four teams that secured their places via qualifiers held during the season, the reigning champion and three wildcards. The field includes five former champions, a third- and a second- time Finals participant and one team making its first appearance. The newcomer is U18 FC Bayern Munich, which was a finalist in the first edition of the Qualifier played in Munich. U18 Mega Bemax Belgrade will make its third U18 Finals appearance, while U18 Stellazzurra Rome returns after last competing at the 2015 Finals in Madrid. U18 Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona of Spain made it by winning the L Hospitalet qualifier; U18 Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania defended its crown at the Kaunas qualifier; U18 Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade of Serbia qualified from the Belgrade qualifier; and U18 Real Madrid made it through by capturing the first edition of the Munich qualifier. U18 CFBB Paris of France will join them as the defending U18 Tournament champion. U18 Crvena Zvezda, the 2014 titlist, is qualified for its eighth consecutive year and will play in front of strong local support; U18 CFBB Paris is competing for the seventh time. The 2015 champion, U18 Real Madrid, is back for the fifth time in a row; the winner from 2012, U18 Lietuvos Rytas, have made six appearances, while for U18 Joventut the return to the Finals marks the second time since they were crowned champions in 2013 at The O2 in London. As Adidas and Euroleague Basketball prepare to showcase a new generation of stars, the tournament s alumni club is becoming a who s who of European basketball superstars. Many players who participated in previous editions can be seen on Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup rosters. The group stages of the U18 Finals will be played from Thursday to Saturday at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall. The Championship Game is the traditional start to a fantastic Sunday at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four. Fans have free admission to all games including the Championship Game at Stark Arena, which gives a unique opportunity to those who do not have Final Four tickets to see the arena from the inside. The Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament has featured 32 different teams this season in the challenge to become junior champs of Europe. Competition System The eight participating teams were randomly drawn into two groups of four teams. Each team will play a total of three games against the opponents in its group. The first-place teams from the groups will play each other in the championship game. Aleksandar Nikolic Hall The Aleksandar Nikolic Hall formerly known as Pionir, is a sports arena in Belgrade, Serbia, located in the Belgrade municipality of Palilula. The official seating capacity of the arena is 6,500, but for this event, it will be reduced to 5,000 seats. In 2016, the name of the arena was changed to Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, in honour of the former basketball player and coach, Aleksandar "Aca" Nikolic. The hall is well-known for its frequent games between different basketball clubs, especially, Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade and Partizan NIS Belgrade for EuroLeague, EuroCup, ABA League and Serbian League competitions. It is designed as a universal hall for sports, cultural events and other programs. For sports, it has a seating capacity of 18,340 fans, also having 70 luxury boxes which include a total of 860 seats. Stark Arena is a member of the European Arenas Association (EAA). The venue is used for several different events, such as basketball, concerts, futsal, handball, judo, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and water polo.
