2 TEAM NOTES A FIVE-WIN SEASON Duke heads into Saturday s game looking for its fifth win of the year. It would be the fifth time in 10 campaigns under head coach David Cutcliffe that the Blue Devils reached five wins. In the 13 seasons prior to Cutcliffe taking over the program, the Blue Devils never won five or more games in a year. The program already has its longest streak of consecutive four or more win campaigns (six) since a seven year stretch from 1985 to DUKE vs. ARMY WEST POINT The Blue Devils own a advantage in the all-time series, which began in 1944 with six straight victories. The Blue Devils won last year s contest, 13-6, on October 8 in Durham. The contest was played in inclement weather caused by Hurricane Matthew. The teams have met 11 times in West Point, with Duke going Duke picked up a 44-3 victory in its last visit, on October 10, Since 1989, Duke has won nine of the 11 meetings between the two schools. 3 OFFENSIVE NOTES HOLDING ON TO THE FOOTBALL Duke has lost just five fumbles this season, tied for the 49th fewest nationally. A year ago, Duke lost five fumbles in the opening game alone and finished 119th in the country with 14 lost fumbles. During the David Cutcliffe era, the fewest fumbles lost for Duke has been six, in 2009 and ST DOWN = TOUCHDOWN Duke has scored eight of its 13 (.615 percent) rushing touchdowns on first down carries. On the other hand, the Blue Devils have just one rushing score on third down carries. Of Duke s 22 offensive touchdowns this season, only three (.136 percent) have come on third down plays. OFFENSIVE LINE BOUNCES BACK After yielding a year-high six sacks and a season second-most 11.0 tackles for loss against Miami, Duke s offensive line rebounded versus Virginia, Florida State, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech, surrendering a combined 6.0 sacks and 22.0 TFL. Florida State s 17 yards lost on TFLs are the fewest Duke had allowed to an FBS foe this season. The two are Duke s first true freshmen scholarship offensive linemen to play since Bryan Morgan in BRANDNER FULL OF GOOD WORKS Redshirt senior offensive tackle Gabe Brandner was one of 11 student-athletes named to the FBS Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Brandner is the ninth Duke player to be honored by the AFCA, and the sixth in as many years. Brandner joins Zaid Abdul-Aleem (1994), Re quan Boyette (2008), Bryan Morgan (2010), Sean Renfree (2012), Dave Harding (2013), Laken Tomlinson (2014), Kelby Brown (2015) and DeVon Edwards (). BRANDNER A SEMIFINALIST Brandner was also announced as a semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy. Brandner, a recipient of a ACC Top 6 for Service honor for excellence in community service, has been extremely involved with the local community, serving with the Lideres Unidos Futbol Club, National Inclusion Project, Habitat for Humanity and Kid s Club in Oxford Manor. A PERFORMANCE Redshirt sophomore quarterback Daniel Jones turned in the second game in program history on September 9 against Northwestern. Jones effort was the 14th performance in ACC history. Pittsburgh Jones ()... Northwestern ANOTHER 50+ YARD TD TOSS Jones helped Duke to a 10-7 lead against Pittsburgh with a 58-yard touchdown pass to senior running back Shaun Wilson. Jones upped his career total to five touchdown passes of 50 or more yards, tied for the third most in Blue Devil history. IN THE TOP 10 ALREADY With Jones two touchdown passes against Pittsburgh, he increased his career total to 24 TD tosses, tied for the ninth most by a Blue Devil. Jones is the only member of the program s top 10 list who played less than two full seasons with the Blue Devils. RAHMING WITH 100 YARDS AGAIN Rahming earned his third game of the season, and second straight, with 100 or more yards against Pitt, finishing with 142. In Rahming s last nine ACC games, he has 57 receptions (6.33 rpg) for 737 yards (81.89 ypg) and one touchdown. Rahming has seven career games with 100 or more receiving yards, tied for the third most at Duke. Rahming s four career games with 10 or more receptions are tied for the third most in program history. LOOKING FOR A THIRD OPTION In Duke s last five games, Rahming and redshirt junior Johnathan Lloyd have combined for 36 of Duke s 53 receptions (.679) by wide receivers in the contest. For the season, Lloyd and Rahming own a combined 860 receiving yards, percent of the total by Blue Devil wide receivers. YOUNG RECEIVERS IN ACTION Duke has 176 total receptions with only 31 from seniors (.176). 3 WILSON S 50+ TOUCHDOWNS Wilson caught his first touchdown of the season against Pittsburgh, covering 58 yards. He owns two career receptions of 50 or more yards, both resulting in touchdowns. Wilson owns 10 career TDs of 50 or more yards, the second most by a Blue Devil. His average would be the third best by a Duke rookie in a year, behind Wilson s 7.67 mark in 2014 and George Clark s 5.93 average in Among the league s rookies, Brown owns the third best yards per carry average. 5 SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES WILSON BACK FOR KOR Senior Shaun Wilson is back as Duke s kickoff return specialist. He sits at 1,536 kickoff return yards in his career, the sixth most in program history. His two kickoff returns for touchdowns are tied for the third most at Duke. Wilson s career kickoff return average is the 11th best among active FBS players. Wilson s two kickoff returns for touchdowns are tied for the 14th most among active FBS players. WILSON S SECOND HALF SURGE Through the first four games of the season, Wilson had totaled 136 kickoff return yards.
