W&M enters tonight s game with a 41 record, which is the best start to a season since the campaign. The Tribe meets Delaware State for the fifth time in series history in Dover, Delaware on Tuesday night. W&M leads the series 40, but this will be the first meeting since Dec, LAST TIME OUT Junior Marlena Tremba led four players in doublefigures with 22 points as the William & Mary women s basketball team dropped NCAA Tournament team American 6251 on Wednesday night in Kaplan Arena. Tremba scored 22 points on 610 of shooting, 2of3 from 3point land, and 8of8 from the free throw line. She added a rebound, a steal, and two assists. Freshman Bianca Boggs chipped in a careerhigh 12 points, with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Junior Alexandra Masaquel and sophomore Jenna Green each added 10 points apiece. Green finished with six assists, two steals, and three rebounds, while Masaquel had four boards, and two steals. After struggling to force steals in its first two games, the Tribe forced its secondstraight opponent into doubledigit steals. W&M forced 10 thefts led by a pair each from Masaquel and Rendle. SCOUTING THE HORNETS Coming off of its first victory of the season on Sunday, Delaware State looks to build off its recent success when they host William & Mary on Tuesday night. The Hornets picked up their first win 7669 against Appalachian State on Sunday. The 76 points accounted for the most points DSU had scored all season. The Hornets are averaging 49.7 points per night. Amber Bogard leads the team with 10.5 points per game. Mikah Aldridge is just off of the doublefigure pace with 9.5 points a night. On the glass DSU is brining home 32.0 rebounds a game. SERIES HISTORY WEEKLY AWARDS The Tribe meets Delaware State for the fifth time in series history in Dover, Delaware on Tuesday night. a weekly award when she was tabbed the CAA s first player Junior Marlena Tremba became the Tribe s first player to earn W&M leads the series 40, but this will be the first meeting of the week on the week of Nov. 16. GRAND COUNTDOWN THE ROAD AHEAD W&M is in a stretch of three games in five days. The conclusion of that stretch will include a home game against Wofford on Dec. 3, before a trip to Clemson on Dec. 5. Following a 12day break for exams, the Tribe returns home to face instate rival Norfolk State at Kaplan Arena on Dec. 17. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. COMMONWEALTH CLASH STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT The first half has been very kind to the Tribe in the early stages of this season. W&M has held the lead in the first half in all five contests. The Tribe is outscoring its opponents in the first half. A large part of the first half success, is the Tribe s second quarter performance, where they are outscoring opponents The Green and Gold is yet to be outscored in the second quarter as well. STEALING THE SHOW After struggling to force steals in its first three games this season, W&M had doubledigit thefts against Loyola and American in its last two outings. For the season, the Tribe is averaging 8.0 steals a game. Sophomores Jenna Green and Abby Rendle lead the team with 1.6 steals a game. ABBY ROAD Sophomore Abby Rendle is starting to come into her own as the Tribe s center. She has had a strong start to the campaign FRESH FACES averaging 10.0 points per game, with 7.6 rebounds, and 2.8blocks. Rendle has scored in doublefigures in the three of the last four contests for the Green and Gold. Not only has she be strong defensively, she s also helped facilitate the Tribe offense. She is averaging 1.4 assists, including a careerhigh four dimes against Grambling State. With her second quarter layup against Grambling State junior Marlena Tremba eclipsed the 800point mark of her just over two year career. Entering tonight s game against American she is just 149 from her 1,000 career point. She would become the 17th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000point plateau. Once again the William & Mary schedule is full of natural rivals including sixgames against schools from the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Tribe plays Richmond (Nov. 20), Norfolk State (Dec. 17), VCU (Dec. 21), Old Dominion (Dec. 29), and James Madison (Jan. 3 & Feb. 19). The Tribe is currently 01 against teams from Virginia. STRONG START For just the seventh time in the Division I history of the program, and the 22nd time in school history the Tribe women s basketball program opened a season with backtoback wins. The strong start continued as the Tribe improved the 41 for the first time since season and are off to, at least a 41 start for the 16th time in school history. With a victory tonight, the Tribe would be 51 for the frist time since , when the Tribe started 71. It would be the 10th time in school history that the College has started, at least 51. All of the four true freshman on the roster have made their collegiate debuts over the course of the first two games. Guard Bianca Boggs cracked the starting line up on open

OPENING NIGHT SCORING SHOW Junior Marlena Tremba s 26 points scored on opening night was the most by a Tribe player in a season opener, during the program s Division I era. The 26 points rank her fourth in school history. Margaret Milona 67 had 30 points in season opener against Fort Eustis in Hazel Stringfellow 30 scored 27 points against Adelphi in the opener in 1927, while Bebe Fisher 53 also scored 27 points versus St. James Club in the opener in RENDLE S REJECTIONS Sophomore Abby Rendle picked up where she left off her freshman year in terms of controlling the paint. The sophomore is averaging 2.8 blocks a night, to open the season, which ranks first in the CAA. Rendle is in sixth place on the alltime blocks list in W&M history with 82. She needs three more blocks to move into fifth place alltime in school history. Tiffany Benson 10 is the school record holder for blocked shots with 255. DOUBLE FIGURES FOR MAR After scoring in doublefigures in four of five games to open the regular season, junior Marlena Tremba has scored in doublefigures in 47 of her 65 career games as member of the Tribe. Tremba has also recorded 11, 20point performances in her career, including two this season. She has already registered 851 career points, which is 13.1 points per game, which currently ranks sixthbest in W&M history. The junior is tied for 10th alltime with 11, 20point performances. She is six doubledigit performances from enterin the top 10 in that category. FLYIN HAWAIIAN Junior Alexandra Masaquel has scored in doublefigures in four of the first five games this season, including tying a careerhigh 18 points against Loyola. She has added 33 rebounds, five blocks, and 13 assists. Last season, the Honolulu, Hawaii native, who had 10 doublefigure scoring performances and averaged 7.5 points a contest to go along with 6.4 rebounds. She added 66 steals, 24 blocks, and 34 assists. She has also recorded four doubledoubles. TRIPLES FOR TREMBA Junior Marlena Tremba has now hit a 3pointer in all but six games of her career. She has connected on more than one 3pointer in 45 of 65 games during her career. The junior hit a careerbest six 3pointers in the game at Towson on Jan. 6, 2015, and opened the 2015 season by hitting five triples against Mount St. Mary s. The Vienna, Virginia native is sixth with 150 triples made, ranks fifth in 3pointers attempted (468), and ranks seventh with.321 threepoint field goal percentage. SPREADING THE WEALTH One key to the Tribe s success last season could be traced to how well they re sharing the basketball. In the 15 games W&M won, they had 249 assists, which is 16.6 assists per game. In the College s 16 losses, they have dished 205 dimes, but that is just 13.7 assists per game. This season it seems the case maybe the same. In its four victories this season W&M is averaging 18.0 assists, including 25 helpers in the victory over Grambling State. In its only loss the Tribe only had 12 helpers. START ME UP In his three years coach Swanson has used 18 different starting lineups (10 in ; 6 in ; 2 in ) in his time with the Tribe. Already this season he has used two different starting lineup combos. Opening night the lineup of junior Alexandra Masaquel, sophomores Abby Rendle, Jenna Green, and Jeanne Gaumont, and freshman Bianca Boggs made the start. For the last four games junior Marlena Tremba joined the starting five in place of Boggs.

4 LEADING TRENDS William & Mary had the lead, at one point, in every single game last season, and the first five this season. Dating back to the season, W&M has held, at least, one lead in 38 straight games. EN FUEGO In 20 of the Tribe s last 36 games the team has shot better than 40percent from the field. W&M s best shooting performance last season came at the College of Charleston when they set a school record field goal percent of.618. For the year, W&M shot 40.7percent, which is third in the CAA and ranks 131st in the NCAA. In three of the four wins this season, the Tribe has shot better than 40percent. For the year, the Green and Gold is shooting 42.5percent from the floor. TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE W&M played the first of thre doubleheaders with both the men s and women s team playing on the same day in Kaplan Arena on Nov. 25. Both the women s and men s teams picked up victories in their respective games. The other two games are on Dec. 29 when the women host Old Dominion and the men host Central Michigan, and then the final double dip is set for Jan. 31 when the women host Northeastern and the men welcome James Madison in CAA play. OLD FRIENDS W&M has already play two games against former CAA rivals against Richmond on Nov. 20 and American on Nov. 25. The Tribe will also play VCU (Dec. 21) and Old Dominion (Dec. 29). Currently the Green and Gold holds a 11 record against former league mates. SEASON OPENERS After its 7674 victory over Mount St. Mary s, W&M has posted a 57 record in its last 12 season openers. The Tribe has now won two straight season openers after also defeating Loyola (Md.) last year on opening night. Head coach Ed Swanson holds a 21 record in opening night games with W&M, but has posted 12 opening night victories during his entire coaching career. RETURNING SCORERS The College returns three of its top four scorers from last season, including its leading scorer from a year ago junior Marlena Tremba (12.5 ppg.) Also back for the Green and Gold is junior Alexandra Masaquel (7.8 ppg.) and sophomore Abby Rendle (7.7 ppg.). The highest scorer lost from a season ago is Jazmen Boone, who averaged 11.8 pointspergame. ROAD WARRIORS Three of the Green and Gold s first four games this season are on the road, which marks the third consecutive season that the Tribe has had three of its first four contests away from Williamsburg. The Tribe found success last season away from home, winning seven games. Prior to the season, W&M had won just seven true road games in the previous six years combined. So far, W&M has been rolling off of last year s momentum on the road, as the Tribe owns a 21 record away from Kaplan Arena. SLATED FOR SIXTH W&M was picked to finish sixth in the CAA Preseason Poll, which is voted on by all 10 of the league s head coaches. James Madison was selected to win the league for the third consecutive season, while Drexel (second), Hofstra (third), Elon (fourth), and Delaware (fifth) were picked ahead of the Tribe. 5 PRESEASON PRAISE For the second consecutive season, junior Marlena Tremba was named Preseason AllCAA Second Team. Last season, she was named to the league s thirdteam. She finished the season averaging 12.5 ppg., 3.1 rpg, and 1.7 steals a night. ROSTER BREAKDOWN This year s roster features 13players from six different states, and one player from Canada. Virginia is the home to six players, while two hail from Maryland, one each from California, Hawaii, Pennsylvania Massachusetts, and Quebec, Canada. The Green and Gold feature one senior, Brooke Stewart, so 12 players have, atleast, one year of eligibility remaining following this season. SETTING THE SLATE W&M s 29game schedule features four teams who participated in postseason play in , six instate rivals, and 14 games at Kaplan Arena highlight the slate. WATCH THE TRIBE Once again all 14 of the Tribe s home games will be available live and for free on TribeAthletics.TV, which is streamed through TribeAthletics.com. In addition to the home games, CAA.TV will broadcast all of the women s basketball conference games for free online. W&M s game at Hofstra on Sunday, Jan. 17 will be aired live on the American Sports Network. ALLCONFERENCE HONORS The William & Mary women s basketball team had four players honored by the Colonial Athletic Association with postseason awards. Sophomore Marlena Tremba highlighted the awards by being named to the league s thirdteam and the allacademic squad. Senior Jazmen Boone earned CAA AllDefensive honors, while freshman Abby Rendle garnered allrookie honors and alldefensive honors. The final award went to senior Kyla Kerstetter, who was an allacademic selection. DANCING SHOES W&M earned its firstever Division I Postseason berth with a trip to the 2015 Women s Basketball Invitational. The Tribe traveled to Xavier where they dropped a heartbreaking 5756 loss. Thensophomore Alexandra Masaquel led the Green and Gold in the game with a careerhigh 18 points. SETTING SCHOOL RECORDS W&M continued to rewrite the singlegame record book under coach Swanson and set five school records last season. The Tribe reset the school record for assists (28), blocks (14), field goal percentage (68.1 percent), sophomore Marlena Tremba reset the school record for field goal percentage (100percent, 8for8), and senior Jazmen Boone set the singlegame free throw percentage (100percent, 10for10). Under coach Swanson the Tribe has set eight school records, including the assist record last year, field goals made in a game (41), and field goal percentage (Boone 100percent, 8for8). CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT W&M s 15win season was its most wins since the season, that season the team picked up 14 victories. The 15 wins were a seven win turnaround from the year before, and ranked fourth in singleseason wins in school history. 80 OR MORE Under coach Swanson, the Tribe has reached the 80point plateau seven times. He became the fifth Division I head women s basketball coach in William & Mary history on May 7, Prior to coming to Williamsburg, he spent 23 years transforming Sacred Heart University from a Division II program into a one of the top teams in the Northeast Conference. Swanson owns a career record of (.587) and ranks 40th among active Division I head coaches in victories. Swanson s second year with the Green and Gold was one for the record books. The Tribe racked up 15 wins, the fourthmost in school history, on its way to its firstever postseason appearances with bid in the Women s Basketball Invitational. The Green and Gold had a sevenwin turnaround, while setting school records for assists (466), blocked shots, (143), and blocked shots per game (4.5). Individually he helped lead four players to five AllCAA awards. Sophomore Marlena Tremba was named to the AllCAA ThirdTeam, senior Jazmen Boone was named to the AllDefensive Team, freshman Abby Rendle to the AllRookie and AllDefensive team, and senior Kyla Kerstetter earned allacademic honors. In his first season with the Tribe, Swanson led a young team to eight victories in a sevenseed in the CAA Tournament. The Green and Gold finished in the top 10 nationally in steals per game, while Jazmen Boone also ranked in the top 20 in the NCAA in the same category. Under his guidance Kaitlyn Mathieu garnered ThirdTeam AllColonial Athletic Association honors, and went on to sign a professional contract with a team in Germany. In addition, guard Marlena Tremba went onto win CAA Rookie of the Year, and was named to the allrookie squad. Boone was named to the alldefensive team, while she and Kyla Kerstetter took home allacademic honors. Swanson oversaw Sacred Heart s transition from Division II to Division I in , and the program took off under his direction. Over Sacred Heart s 14 years in Division I, Swanson led SHU to a record (.664), including a (.754) record in the NEC. He departed as the NEC s alltime winningest head coach with all of his SHU teams finishing third or higher in the league standings. Swansonlead teams have posted 13 straight winning seasons and 12 straight campaigns with 18 or more victories, including six with 20 or more wins. In 2009, he was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. In total, Swansoncoached players earned 19 AllNEC honors, including nine firstteam awards, nine NEC AllTournament Team honors, eight NEC AllRookie Team selections, four NEC Rookies of the Year, three NEC Tournament MVPs and three NEC Players of the Year. In , Swanson led Sacred Heart to its third straight postseason appearance, and in the process, recorded his 400th career victory. His milestone win came on Feb. 12, 2013 as the Pioneers defeated Fairleigh Dickinson. SHU completed the season at 2211, finishing second in the NEC with a 135 ledger and garnering a berth in the program s first Women s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). 8 Honor Roll with a team GPA of SHU compiled a season mark to 258, winning both the regular season and postseason crowns in the league as Swanson was named NEC Coach of the Year for the fourth time. The Pioneers earned a berth in the 2011 Women s Basketball Invitational and finished the year at 1813 with a 126 mark in the NEC. After a 05 start to the season, Swanson s Pioneers reeled off a 21game winning streak, the longest in school history and second longest in the country, before finishing with 258 record. SHU completed the NEC regular season with a perfect 180 mark, becoming just the third team in the history of the conference to accomplish the feat. Swanson earned NEC Coach of the Year honors as Sacred Heart finished off an amazing season by capturing its second league title and trip to the NCAA Tournament over a fouryear span. During the season, Swanson moved past former Mount St. Mary s head coach Bill Sheahan (124) as alltime leader in Northeast Conference wins and eclipsing the 300win plateau in his career. The season saw Swanson lead the Sacred Heart program to its first NCAA Tournament, capturing the NEC Championship in just its seventh season at the Division I level. Swanson guided the Pioneers to a school record 265 record, including a 162 NEC ledger. He also garnered career victory No. 250 during the season. Under his leadership, Sacred Heart was one of the toughest teams on its home court, the William H. Pitt Center, which opened in During the Pitt Center s opening 16 seasons, Swanson s teams won 81.9 percent (18541) of its home games. He joined Dave Bike s men s basketball coaching staff at SHU in 1989, and, after becoming head coach of the Pioneer women s program in 1990, did double duty for three seasons before becoming the University s first fulltime women s coach in Prior to Swanson s arrival, the Sacred Heart women s team compiled a 421 record. Under his guidance, the climb to Division II respectability was accomplished within three seasons, from 819 to 1116 and, in , to 1613 the program s first winning record in 11 seasons. In his time at SHU, he was a fourtime NEC Coach of the Year, led Sacred Heart to five postseason bids, including three NCAA Tournament appearances.
