Roth Most Valuable Player Award is named in the memory of Tyler Roth from Winamac Community High School. Roth was a member of the 2001 North All-Star Team, but tragically lost his life 34 hours after an accident on his way home from a summer job. Roth was to play football at Earlham College. While at WCHS, Roth earned 10 varsity letters in four sports. He was the Midwest Conference and Loganland Player of the Year in 2000 plus was an all-area and all-conference player for two years. Roth also served as student body president and was involved in numerous activities throughout his high school career. Today s award is sponsored by The Braun Corporation, a proud Warrior supporter. 6

9 North Coaching Staff Head Coach -- Bart Curtis (Mishawaka H.S.) Bart Curtis, who served as president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association in , is in his 26th season as a high school football coach, and in his third year as the head coach at Mishawaka High School. Curtis owns a career coaching record in 19 years as a head coach, including 10 seasons as the head coach at New Prairie High School prior to taking the Mishawaka job in Prior to New Prairie, Curtis was the head coach at Maconaquah High School for six seasons. A 1981 graduate of Northwood High School, Curtis served as an assistant football coach at South Bend Washington ( ) and New Prairie (1990). Assistant Coach -- Brandon Baker (Manchester H.S.) Brandon Baker has been at Manchester High School for six years and prior to that spent one year at Northfield and two seasons at North Knox High School. Baker is a graduate of Manchester College where he played football and baseball for four years. He served as a graduate assistant at Manchester College for three years. After that, Baker became the head coach at North Knox for two seasons. He was an assistant at Northfield for one year and then became the head coach at Manchester H.S. Baker and his wife, Jennifer, have three children -- Addison, Elli and Briggs. Assistant Coach -- Mark Lefebvre (Southern Wells H.S.) Mark Lefebvre completed his 15th year as the head coach at Southern Wells ( & ) last season. He has guided the Raiders to back-to-back Sectional and Regional Championships, compiling a two-year record of During his tenure the Raiders are110-65, including undefeated ACAC titles in 2000 and In tournament play the Raiders have won Sectional and Regional titles in 2001, 2008 and 2009, and finished the season in 2001 at 14-1 as the Class A State Champions. Other than Southern Wells, Lefebvre spent as assistant at North Miami H.S., and served as the head coach at Maconaquah H.S. from This is his second stint on the North Staff serving as an assistant on the 2000 squad. Assistant Coach -- Rick Malone (Fountain Central H.S.) Rick Malone, a 1976 graduate of Martinsville High School, is the head football coach at Fountain Central H.S. He was the head coach in 1983 and 1984 and is in his second stint from 2008 to the present. Malone led Fountain Central to the 1983 Class A State Championship and a runner-up finish in Class 2A last fall. He has compiled an overall record of at Fountain Central and a career mark of in 22 years as a head coach at Fountain Central, North Putnam and Southmont. Malone served stints as an assistant at Fountain Central and Martinsville. A 1980 graduate of Franklin College, Malone earned his master s from Indiana in He and his wife, Jeannine, have been married for six years. Malone has two daughters -- Susan and Jessica. Assistant Coach -- Phil Mason (Andrean H.S.) Phil Mason is entering his third season as the head football coach at Andrean High School after leading the team to a second straight sectional championship last fall. Prior to coming to Andrean, he was the head coach at Wheeler High School and Hammond Clark. Mason has been named Region I Coach of the Year twice and also the LAC Coach of the Year. As a collegian, Mason played junior college football, receiving honorable mention All-American honors. From there he went on to play at Illinois State University. Mason has been married to his high school sweetheart, Dee, for 19 years. They have two children -- PJ and Hannah. Assistant Coach -- Andy Thomas (Culver H.S.) Andy Thomas has been the head football coach at Culver Community High School for the past four years. He led the Cavaliers to a sectional title in Prior to coming to Culver Community, Thomas was the head coach at Garrett High School for six years, where the Railroaders won three conference championships, one sectional and one regional championship. Thomas was also an assistant coach at Warsaw High School. He is a graduate of Mishawaka High School, Manchester College and IPFW. Thomas and his wife, Beth, have three children - Kylie (8), Kelsie (7), and Alex (2). Assistant Coach -- Tom Wilson (Eastbrook H.S.) Tom Wilson graduated from Madison-Grant High School and Ball State University. Since 1974, Wilson has taught and coached in the Eastbrook Community School Corporation. As the varsity football defensive coordinator, linebacker and offensive line coach since 1989, he has helped Eastbrook to four undefeated seasons, 13 conference championships, 10 sectional crowns, three regional titles and in 2004, a state runner-up finish. Wilson is also the varsity softball coach, a position he has held for the last 22 years, taking the team to the state finals. He also coached Eastbrook s girl s varsity basketball team for 15 years. Wilson has three daughters: Amber Amick, Sara Caudell and Bethany Massey. He also has five grandchildren -- Dylan, Boston, Dawson, Bristol and Abigail. 9

10 South Coaching Staff Head Coach -- Tim Able (New Palestine H.S.) Tim Able, who played high school football for Hall of Fame Coach Bill Siderwicz and at Taylor University for Hall of Fame Coach Jim Law, started his coaching career as an assistant at Maconaquah High School. He spent nine years there before becoming the head coach at North Daviess H.S. in He guided the Cougars to 22 wins and a sectional championship in three years. Able then became the head coach at East Noble and guided the Knights to the school s first ever sectional championship in 1999 and was rewarded with an assistant coaching position for the 2000 Indiana North-South All-Star Game. After leading East Noble to the 2000 Class 4A State Championship, Able moved to Decatur Central. He led DC to 10 wins in 2005 and the school s first-ever Class 5A Sectional title. In 2009, Able became the head football coach at New Palestine and won the Class 4A Sectional. He was named the Hancock County and Indianapolis Star East Coach of the Year. Assistant Coach -- Tony Ahrens (Jasper H.S.) Tony Ahrens has been with the Jasper Wildcat Football team for the past 25 years. After having spent 18 seasons as an assistant coach, Ahrens became Jasper s head coach in A 1978 graduate of Jasper, where he played football and ran track, Ahrens attended Garden City College to play football. He then moved to Indiana University where he played football and graduated in He worked as a graduate assistant coach for Lee Corso, Sam Wyche and Bill Mallory at IU from He moved back to Jasper H.S. in 1985 and taught at the middle school. Ahrens and his wife, Christy, have three children -- Austin, Mackenzie and Nolan. Assistant Coach -- Brett Comer (Brownsburg H.S.) Brett Comer is a social studies teacher and the head football coach at Brownsburg High School. In 2010, Comer will be entering his 17th year as a teacher and his fifth as the head coach. Comer is a 1987 Brownsburg H.S. graduate and member of both the 1985 (3A) and 1986 (4A) State Champion Bulldog football teams. Upon graduation he continued his educational and athletic career at Butler University playing for Coach Bill Lynch. While at Butler, the Bulldogs captured two Heartland Conference championships and earned a berth in the 1989 DII national playoffs. Comer earned both his bachelor s and master s from Indiana University. In 2009, Brownsburg was 9-4, and won the Sectional for the first time in 24 years. Comer is the proud parent of two children, Jayme and Kayle Comer. He is married to Angee Comer, who is also a teacher and coach (basketball) in the Brownsburg School System. Assistant Coach -- Darrin Fisher (Whiteland H.S.) Darrin Fisher has spent 19 seasons as a head coach in Indiana and Iowa, winning five sectional championships. He was honored as Coach of the Year in 1992, 2001, 2006 and His 2008 Whiteland Warriors recorded the school s first-ever undefeated regular season. Fisher led Whiteland to the 2006 Sectional title plus led Cascade H.S. to the title in 1992 and Des Moines East H.S. to sectional crowns in 2002, 2003 and Fisher has won four city/conference championships , 2003 and 2004 at Des Moines East and 2008 at Whiteland. A business education teacher, Fisher resides in Whiteland with his wife, Susan, son Evan and daughter Grace. Assistant Coach -- John Jud (Fishers H.S.) John Jud began his coaching career as the defensive line coach at Bloomington South High School in From he coached at Penn H.S., and was a part of three straight state championship teams in 1995, 1996 and Jud then went to West Noble H.S. in 1988 and was defensive coordinator from 1999 to 2003, where he was a part of three conference championship teams. In 2004, Jud became the defensive coordinator at West Lafayette Harrison H.S., and helped them to what is still the only winning regular season record since In 2006, Jud went to Fishers H.S. as a math teacher and defensive line coach. In 2007, he assumed the defensive coordinator position and has helped the team to a mark in the last three seasons. Jud helped Fishers to the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Championship last fall. He and his wife, Nicole, have two sons -- Zane and Beau. Assistant Coach -- Ryan Langferman (Milan H.S.) Ryan Langferman is the head coach at Milan High School. Langferman, a 1997 graduate of Milan, played football under the guidance of two-time South All-Star Coach Bob Brookbank. Langferman played football at Depauw University before graduating from Northern Kentucky in Starting in 2000, Langferman was an assistant coach at Milan for five years under head coaches Paul Ketcham and Marty Layden, before taking over the head coaching duties of the Indians in In 2008, Langferman s Indians won a share of the conference championship, and in 2009, he led the Indians to an 8-3 record. In December 2009, Langferman graduated from Ball State University with a master s degree in educational administration. Langferman and his wife, Carly, reside in Milan with sons Trenton and Grant, while expecting their third son in early August. Assistant Coach -- Dave Pasch (Lutheran H.S.) Dave Pasch is the head coach at Lutheran High School of Indianapolis. He has been in charge for the past two seasons, where he recently led Lutheran to a playoff regional appearance and the school s first ever sectional championship in only the programs fourth year of varsity football. This past season, Pasch was named Marion County Coach of the Year by the Indianapolis Star. He was also a member of the Grange Insurance South All-Star coaching staff in 2000 and Pasch left North Putnam H.S. two years ago after leading them to a semistate appearance in 2006 and Regional in 2007, while also winning two consecutive conference championships. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Yorktown and Decatur Central before being named head coach at North. He is a graduate of Ball State and Brownsburg H.S., where he was a member of the 1985 State Championship team. Pasch and his wife, Liza, have been married for 16 years, and have four children -- John, Erin, Jackson and Jake. 10

He received his bachelor s degree from Ball State, and his teaching license from the University of Indianapolis in Kirschner completed his master s degree from Olivet Nazarene in He served as assistant football coach, girls basketball coach and softball coach at Warren Central High School from 1990 to From he served as the head football coach, assistant girls basketball coach and head boys track coach at Cascade High School. He and his wife, Terry, have three children -- Jon, Monica and Katie. Jeff Adamson - 1st Vice-President -- Eastbrook High School Jeff Adamson is the head football coach and assistant principal at Eastbrook High School. Adamson played football for Bob Cornell at Manchester College. He returned to Eastbrook High School in 1986 and became Head Coach in Adamson s teams have won 11 conference titles, 10 sectional crowns and were state runnerup in Adamson and his wife, Kandi, have two children -- Anthony and Sarah. Reed May - 2nd Vice-President -- Brownstown Central High School Reed May is in his 18th season as the head football coach at Brownstown Central High School. Prior to BCHS, Reed was an assistant coach at Perry Meridian H.S., Owensboro (Ky.) H.S., Franklin College, Western Illinois University, Murray State University and the University of Arizona. A 1974 graduate of Bloomington South, May played in the 1974 Indiana North-South All-Star Game and was an assistant coach in the 1996 contest. Reed and his wife, Joann, have two daughters -- Kayla and Rylee. Dave Land -- Executive Director -- Hagerstown High School Dave Land, a member of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, spent 15 years as a head football coach at Wes-Del and Delta high schools before becoming an assistant football coach at Ball State University. After seven seasons on the BSU football staff, Land became an assistant athletic director and was the school s first-ever director of athletics compliance. A graduate of Noblesville High School and Ball State, Land is the assistant principal at Hagerstown High School. He and his wife, Susan, have two daughters -- Stephanie and Sherry. Bob Gaddis -- Assistant Executive Director -- Columbus East High School Bob Gaddis has been a head football coach for over 30 years in the state of Indiana, and is currently the head coach at Columbus East High School. Gaddis also spent time as the head coach at Evansville Reitz. Gaddis served as the head coach of the South All-Stars in 2000 plus served as an assistant in 1990 and Gaddis is a past president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association. He received the IFCA s Ken Leffler Award plus has earned Coach of the Year honors in Indianapolis, Evansville and as a Ball State alumnus. Bob and his wife, Karen, have two children -- Alisha and Grant. Mark Miller -- Corresponding Secretary -- Rochester High School Mark Miller, the head football coach at Rochester High School since 1981, is a graduate of Mishawaka High School and Manchester College plus received his master s degree from Indiana State University. He has guided Rochester to 14 straight winning seasons, including one state championship and five sectional titles. In addition to his coaching duties, he was named the school s athletics director in Prior to coming to RHS, he served coaching stints at Brownsburg High School, Vincennes Lincoln High School and Pike Central High School. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two sons -- Marcus and Matthew. He served as IFCA President in Joe Goodman -- Assistant Secretary/Awards -- Seymour High School Joe Goodman is a past president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association. He is also a former chairman of the National High School Football Committee, a member of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and serves on the IFCA State Ranking Board. He compiled a career coaching record. Goodman earned his bachelor s degree from Indiana State and his master s from Ball State plus completed his doctorate at Butler University. He and his wife, Sharon, have one son -- Parker Grant. Tom Kelly -- Information Director -- Rochester High School Tom Kelly serves as the Indiana Football Coaches Association Information Director. Kelly, a past recipient of the IFCA President s Award, has been a member of the IFCA since A 1971 graduate of Purdue, Kelly earned his master s from Purdue in After graduating from Dyer Central H.S. in 1962, Kelly spent four years in the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife, Barbara Jean, have two sons -- Corey and Sean. All-Star Banquet Chairman -- John Mallery John Mallery, the head football coach at Franklin Central High School from , has been the assistant game director, assistant banquet director and assistant hospitality director for the North-South All-Star Game since He served as the banquet chairman for the 1992 and 1994 Indiana Football Hall of Fame inductions for Chuck Stephens and Dave Land, respectively. Mallery was an 1994 all-star game assistant coach, received the Ken Leffler Award in A graduate of Noblesville H.S. and the University of Indianapolis, Mallery helped UI to the 1978 Heartland Conference title. John played in the 1976 Indiana North-South All-Star Game. All-Star Game Director -- Paul Loggan Paul Loggan has been an assistant football coach for the last 23 seasons, including the last 19 at North Central High School. Loggan, who is also an assistant athletic director at North Central, has been associated with the North-South All- Star Game for the past 23 years and has been game director for the last 18 contests. He received the Ken Leffler Award in 1990 and the President s Award in 1994, and is the 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. Loggan served as an assistant coach for the South in the 1992 tilt. Paul is married to the former Kathy Sahm, and they have two sons -- Michael and Will - and one daughter - Samantha. 11

Bart Curtis, who served as president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association in , is in his 26th season as a high school football coach, and in his third year as the head coach at Mishawaka High School. Curtis owns a career coaching record in 19 years as a head coach, including 10 seasons as the head coach at New Prairie High School prior to taking the Mishawaka job in Prior to New Prairie, Curtis was the head coach at Maconaquah High School for six seasons. A 1981 graduate of Northwood High School, Curtis served as an assistant football coach at South Bend Washington ( ) and New Prairie (1990). Ken Leffler Award -- Dave Land (Hagerstown H.S.) Prior to her experience at Grange, Drake worked for Swiss Re Life and Health plus The Midland Life Insurance Company. She graduated cum laude from Ohio University with a bachelor s degree in business administration. Drake is active in several organizations and serves as the marketing chair for Action for Children. She and her husband, Dan, live in Powell, Ohio. Rex Kirts Media Award -- Greg Bell Greg Bell has been in the sports broadcasting for 35 years, with the past 27 being the voice of Howard County sports for the Kokomo Wildkats for WIOU-WZWZ. Bell is a graduate of Butler University with a degree in radio-television. He started his career in radio at WSVL in Shelbyville, then moved to Marion in 1977 and broadcasted at WBAT until Bell has been in Kokomo since He has been awarded the IBCA Media Person of the Year in 2009, The Sportscaster of the Year in Indiana in 1998, the IHSAA Media Distinguished Service Award in 1996, and the Athletic Director Association Media Award in 1994 in addition to receiving the Rex Kirts Media Award from the Indiana Football Coaches Association in Bell retired from WIOU-WZWZ in May and has relocated to Louisville, Ky., with his wife Ronda. Bell has four children Derrick and Matt Bell, and Billy Guerre and Alex Plude. Hub Etchison Scholarship Award -- Angela Miller (Fairfield H.S.) Angela Miller, the daughter of Bob and Nora Lynn Miller, is the 2010 recipient of the Hub Etchison Scholarship. She will attend Purdue University and major in Biochemistry and Life Sciences. Miller was a student manager for the Fairfield H.S. football team for four years plus lettered three seasons in track and field and was a 10-year member of 4H. In high school, she participated in National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Sunshine Society, Key Club International, Future Homemakers of America, International Culture Club and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Hub Etchison Scholarship Award -- Austin Ahrens (Jasper H.S.) Austin Ahrens, a member of the 2010 Indiana South All-Stars, is the 2010 recipient of the Hub Etchison Scholarship. Ahrens was a member of Jasper s football and baseball team for four years plus played three seasons of basketball. He was a 2009 Academic All-State selection in football and was a two-time Indiana Football Coaches Association All-State selection. Ahrens, who captained Jasper s football team as a senior, was the 2009 Southwest Player of the Year. He will be attending Indiana University s Kelley School of Business.
