But that s only one reason Vancouver s on the radar of every hockey fan. The city hosted the tide-turning game [33] in the 1972 Russia/Canada Summit Series [34], the most famous hockey tournament of all time. And it s home of the Canucks [35], whom CTC humbly predicts will be the next Canadian team to hoist Lord Stanley s Cup. 6) Viking [36], AB [37] Home of the Sutters reads the sign [38] in this peaceful farm town southeast of Edmonton. It commemorates a feat of pluck and DNA unmatched in pro sports: Six Sutter brothers [39] made it to the big league. (Side trip: drive the 134 km (83 mi) to Edmonton [40] and see the No. 99 banner hanging from the rafters in Oilers [41] home Rexall Place [42], and then high-five the Gretzky statue standing outside.)

This is the true spirit of hockey: blue-collar, small-town, character-building, largedreaming. And ageless. Visit the Sports Hall of Memories [47] inside the Trail Memorial Centre [48]. 8) Parry Sound [49], ON [2] Pretty in its own right nestled in the cottage country on the eastern shore of Georgian Bay [50] the town is also the birthplace of hockey s greatest-ever defenseman, Bobby Orr. Visit the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame [51], a museum of Orr-related memorabilia.
