Opening game yesterday in the Monty Waterbury Cup and a good win for White Birch 16-9 over starter Yellow Cab. Jake Stimmel was replacing Peter Brant for White Birch. White Birch started strong, 5-0 in the first chukker (4 goals by Mariano Aguerre, one by Fred Mannix) and 9-1 at the end of two chukkers. White Birch would lead 12-1 at halftime to win The other four teams are starting on Monday with a double header. Cartier International Day, Sunday 24. This is the final year Cartier will sponsor the Cartier International Day (the 27th) and it is the 100th Anniversary of the Coronation Cup. England will play Brasil. 7 The Brasil Team Rodrigo Andrade 8 Rodrigo de Andrade had a breakthrough in the Winter 2011 in the US with Audi, winning the USPA Piaget Gold Cup and losing both times to Lechuza in the finals of the CV Whitney and the US Open Championship. Rodrigo was a member of the Brazilian World Championship winning team in 2001 (14 goal FIP) and has represented Brazil in several other matches both at home and abroad. In Argentina Rodrigo won the 22 goal Copa de Oro and has played with teams in several of the top tournaments including the Camara de Diputados, Tortugas, Hurlingham and Argentine Open. Page 7 The Morning Line Sunday, July 24, 2011 Luiz Paulo Bastos 7 Luiz was a member of the Brazilian national team in the Polo World Cup of 1998, which was played in the USA. Like teammate Rodrigo, he has also represented his national team in many exhibition games both in Brazil and further afield. The well-travelled player has competed in Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, USA, France, Holland, Belgium, England and Spain. Of course, like his teammates, he regularly plays in Argentina too, in top tournaments such as the Copa Camara de Diputados and the Belgrano. Joao Paulo Ganon 8 Another impressive, South American eight-goal player, Joao was a member of the Brazilian World Championship winning team in 2001, which was played in Australia. He has also represented the Brazilian team in several exhibition games in Brazil and abroad, including playing in countries such as Uruguay, USA, France, England and Spain. Closer to home, Joao has registered an impressive collection of trophies including the Abierto do Estado de Sao Paulo, the Gold Cup and Copa Xavier de Lima Ronalda. Of course, a player of his skill is a regular competitor in the higher rated games in neighbouring Argentina. Successes have included Camara de Diputados and the Copa de Oro - which he won in 2011; Copa Remonta and Veterinaria - champion in 2011; President Cup - the Champion in 2011 and the Novillo Astrada Cup - of which he was the Champion in Jose Eduardo Kalil 6 Jose is the Brazilian national team captain. In addition to this important role, he is also the owner and captain of one of the leading Brazilian polo teams - Sao Jose Polo. He has represented the Brazilian national teams in several exhibition games in Brazil and abroad, including wearing a national shirt in the Copa de las Naciones 2009 in Argentina. Other successes in Argentina have included the Champion in Copa Diamante and Copa de Oro Ellerstina Jose s victories on Brazilian soil have included the Abierto do Estado de Sao Paulo; Aberto do Helvetia; Campeonato Brasileiro and Copa de Oro.
