8 BRITISH DARTS ORGANISATION INTER COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIPS PREMIER DIVISION 1994/1995 RED ROSE NEWSLETTER On the way down on the coaches to Essex a few of the gang were down in the dumps through one reason or another, a bad week at work, money problems, family problems, not been very well, or just generally fed up with everything. So it was good to look round the room on Sunday at the faces of the red army shouting & cheering on the lads & lasses of Lancashire. Even if it is only for a few hours it does you good to forget your troubles & let yourself go -even if you can't talk on Monday morning. I hope you are all in as good voice this weekend I can assure you it lifts the players no end when they hear you all cheering them on. One young player on his debut for the county 'A' team at Essex will surely never forget the ovation he received when he won against an Essex player, Peter Mulreany, who had not lost a game this season, till he met 16 year old Louis Blundell. I know I was over the moon for the youngster, who misses this weekends fixture because he has been selected for the England youth team at abroad, I am sure he will do us proud. Louis wasn't the only one to get the Red Rose Supporters cheering. Paul Williams was on tremendous form again following his thrilling winning match against Surrey international player Sean Burgess. At Essex Paul was drawn against yet another England international in Kevin Painter, and as he did against Burgess he won the man of the match award with an average of every three darts, scoring 14 tons & over, another player who registered 14-3 figure scores was the ton machine himself, Alan Glazier, he won with an average of Fran Lynch also won with an average of Five players had high 80's averages - Mark Holden 89.94, Ian Roe 88.62, Ronnie Baxter 87.63, Tony Blackledge & Brian Derbyshire which extended the team average to almost 88. Which as far as I can recall is a County record. Read all about the game in Mavis' match reports on pages 15 & 16. Our visitors today have had their differences, as we have, with former comperes currently making themselves known with the other side. But we in Lancashire are managing quite well with our new voices through the mike as Tommy Thompson & Loll Holmes take us very professionally through County matches here at the Crazy Horse & I am sure London are very proud of young George Noble who was seen recently compering in the Embassy Finals.
