The details are below. Come and check out the 4-H Archery Club. Try different bows and get a registration packet. Saturday, July 22 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Chester Frost Park Dallas Island Stage Area Volunteer coaches needed for the 4-H Archery Club. You must complete the Tennessee 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Certification Workshop. The next workshop will be held August 11-12, 2017, York 4-H Center, Crossville, TN. Hamilton County registration deadline is Thursday, July 27th (state deadline is July 28th). Call the office for registration forms. 2 4-H Archery Club featured on TV Club members have been busy this summer. Some are preparing to compete in the fall for a spot on state team that will compete on the national level. Others have been practicing their skills for the upcoming year. 4-H club members have been on both Let s Chatt on Channel 12 and 3 Plus You on Channel 3. Youth who were featured include: Jordan Ossmann, Jackson Vatter and Hayden Clements.

4-H Junior High Camp Youth attending the 2017 Eastern Region 4-H Junior High Camp had a great week filled with fun. They went hiking, snorkeling, and completed service projects during the week.

3 4-H Junior High Camp Youth attending the 2017 Eastern Region 4-H Junior High Camp had a great week filled with fun. They went hiking, snorkeling, and completed service projects during the week. They also went swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. They competed in archery and rifle competitions. During the week the campers competed in Survivor type competitions. Those from Hamilton County were on the winning team. Campers include: Ayla Luna, Enrique Perez and Desha Wilkins. Campers pictured in front of the cabins at Austin 4-H Center, Greeneville, TN. 4-H Electric Camp Carter Barhite, Hamilton County 4-H member, attended the H Electric Camp at The University of Tennessee Knoxville. I liked 4-H Electric Camp, because they taught us how to save energy. Each of us made a wall outlet. I got to meet kids from all over Tennessee. We got to drive electric golf carts. There were three groups of youth who participated in a hands-on nutrition lesson. He worked with Agent Janice Hartman and Program Assistant Catherine Surgick. At the end of June, Luke also provided June Dairy Month items to customers at Pruett s, Signal Mountain, TN. He shared the importance of dairy. Get More with Milk. 4-H Judging Teams Do you like to work on a team? Do you like to learn about different topics? Do you like to win prizes? If so, a 4-H Judging Team may be for you. Contact the Extension office by August 4th if you are interested in competing on a team. Three to four people make up a team. You will have the opportunity to compete for Hamilton County at the regional judging day, September 9th, Knoxville, Tennessee. Judging Teams (grade noted is grade as of Fall 2017) LifeSkills (6th-8th grades) - Family and Consumer Sciences topics: nutrition, money management, safety, human development, home and environment, etc. Consumer Decision Making (9th-12th grades) - financial decisions based on scenarios Forestry (6th-12th grades) - Forestry management, identification, age of tree, etc. Meats Identification (6th-12th grades) - learn about cuts of meats and preparation Dairy (6th-12th grades) - all about Dairy cattle

Luke Ford, Level II, Conservation Science, Wildlife, Forestry and Fisheries John Goggans, Level II, Performing Arts & Recreation Leiah Wilkins, Level I, Communications and Public Speaking 4-H Roundup Service Project This year the Roundup service project is collecting items for the families residing at the Target House, at the St. Jude s Hospital in Memphis, TN. The house serves 96 families with children in the hospital. You can drop off items at the Extension office by Friday, July 21st, 4 p.m. Eastern Region items are: combs, body wash, lotion, hand soap and trash can liners.

Hamilton County 4-H members participating in the project from April - September are learning about responsibility regarding the hands on care of living things as well as the expenses associated with such care. Contact Agent Keith Bridges for more information. Hamilton County Fair The 2017 Hamilton County Fair will be held September 23 & 24, Chester Frost Park. You may enter vegetables, honey, forages, crafts, photography, canning, clothing, sewing, and more! Plan to enter items in the Fair. If you would like the contact information, please call the Extension office. He is a Dutch Rabbit (black and white), about 2 years old. A cage will also be included. 4-H AgVentures 4-H AgVentures will be held Friday, September 22nd. Both adults and youth are needed to assist with this day. Youth should be 6th grade or older. You must be registered as a volunteer with Extension (paperwork required). If you would like to volunteer for this program, contact Nancy Rucker.
