2 WELCOME FELT FARMS BRAND OF EXLLEN SALE Welcome Everyone! On behalf of my family and my consignors, I would like to invite you to our 3rd Annual Brand of Excellence Bull Sale. As I am writing this going into the New Year, we sure are enjoying the beautiful above normal temperatures. We have been blessed with a lot of moisture this past year and raised a wonderful crop. We have seen the demand for these Simmental genetics rising in popularity all the time and I think people are seeing the benefits of crossbreeding to add extra value to their calf crop. We live in a world where every extra dollar we can get really goes a long way and I know this set of bulls will add value, dollars and cents to everyone s program. Once again, Roberts Simmentals is joining us as a guest consigner and I am here to tell you I think they have as good of set of bulls as they have brought yet and many of you will admire them on sale day and down the road. Someone new that is joining us this year but is no stranger to the Simmental breed or northeast Nebraska, is a great friend of mine, Jerry Walsh of Walsh Simmentals from Hubbard. He has had many sales in the past at his place but we decided to go together and make one great event out of it. Jerry is one of the breed leaders raising some of the best genetics out there and has several bulls that are selling semen all across the country. He is also going to bring in the top end of his open heifers as well and I m here to tell you, I have bought several of his females in the past that have went on to be awesome cows for me. We are going to sell more numbers than usual since we decided to join together. We also told ourselves we were all going to cut back a few numbers in which we have sold in the past to try to make this the very best from all three consigners and turn this into a elite bull sale and not just like a Wal-Mart type of sale. We take a lot of pride in how we feed and develop these bulls. The bulls with Felt prefix have been fed a high roughage diet and use ADM s Amino Gain supplement which benefits the longevity of these bulls and to help with fertility, which eliminates a lot of problems down the road. We feed these cattle to look like breeding cattle and not like a pen of fat cattle. We value all of customers as friends and have been very fortunate to have many repeat customers. His sire goes back to the immortal 843 cow at Werning s and on the dam side goes back to the great Sadie cow of Kappes s. This bull is packed full of red meat and muscle and does it in a complete package. This will be the lead off bull in my one Denver pen. This red bull has made a statement on us and maybe the best I have raised. You can t go wrong with him in terms of his phenotype or genotype. 304F is the bull to own. This might have been the most consistent flush I have had from any cow. We also kept a full sib heifer that might be the best heifer that I have raised. These bulls will add some structural integrity and look into a set of calves that won t sacrifice performance. They go back to the great Rhythm cow of Ruby Cattle from Iowa and combine that with the 843 cow of Werning s, I don t know how you could make one any better. This bull is one of my favorite Executive Order calves and was in my Denver pen. He has a great set of feet and legs on him and has a lot of rib and shape to him. This has been one of my favorite bulls all year long and we were halter breaking him for Denver, he went off feed for awhile. He decided the show life wasn t for him and after losing some weight, he was put back in the pen with the big group of bulls. He maybe a nickel younger and out of a first calf heifer, but don t let that fool you; he has really came on since he dropped him off. Everyone is good and definitely has a purpose in the beef business. This bull was in the group that had gotten halter broke to go to Denver, but grew away from the others. One of the most attractive bulls in the group and is stout when you get behind him as well. I look to see this bull out siring himself and you ending up with a calf crop you can only dream of. This one will sure add a little more frame and growth into a set of calves and if you saw his dam you would want to take her home as well. These Distinctions calves have exploded since they were weaned. This is sure one of the biggest stoutest bulls in the offering. You won t be disappointed in the bull one bit. I can t recall how many years I have had this cow now but she has never given me a heifer calf. I would love to keep a daughter out of her some day for she has put a bull in the sale every year. I do think this is the best calf she has had to date and exploded since weaning. He has exploded since weaning and will sure add some frame and pounds to a calf crop in a hurry, but still has a great body and good look to him as well. They have been my hired man s favorite sire group as babies but I don t really want to give him credit at the time. Now I have to eat crow! Distinction sired my top selling open heifer calf this fall, so he has done a good job. This bull is a double bred ¾ blood that goes back to a awesome cow on the bottom side. He has a perfect blaze face and is a stout built bull and gives you an awesome look. When he was a calf, he was awesome haired and looked like a club calf running around. This ET calf is sure going to get your attention sale day perfect black blaze face and is stout and loaded with performance. His sire might be one of the breed s most popular bulls and I understand why. They calve easy and get up and grow with a lot of performance as well and maintain a great look about them. This one s dam we finally flushed a couple years ago and I don t know why we didn t do so sooner, the dam s calves have topped my bull sales for the last few years, and we kept a full sib heifer to this bull that is second to none. The dam s first calf last year, a half brother won his age division in Denver and the Black Hills Stock show in Rapid City and went on to be a sale topper there. This bull is really long bodied and has a super long clean front in him for a purebred bull. When you get behind him, he won t disappoint either you one bit as he has real power. We went and used some of Connealy s Consensus semen hoping to get some great replacement heifers. I have been told by many Angus breeders that their best cows are Consensus daughters. We purchased his dam on the Western Exposure Sale of Trevor Roche from Idaho last year which I felt was there best Angus bred heifer there. She will probably become a new Angus donor for me in the next year to come. Bull is sired by the Charlo bull which needs no introduction out west and in the Angus breed. I feel this bull will work on heifers easily and I do guarantee his calves to have ears. A full sister to this bull was showed very successful by the Behmer family and won a lot of shows around the area. A maternal sister was shown this last year by Hunter Borg and was shown three different times and won all three shows at the Nebraska State Fair and won many shows prior to this as well.
