(Holy Trinity Diocesan) NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS NOTES USC s nine NCAA team titles (1960, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977) are fourth most nationally and Troy has won a combined 112 NCAA event titles (also fourth most), including 94 individually and 18 on relays... USC has won at least one NCAA title in six of the past 11 seasons, but none since Sophomore Vladimir Morozov is after USC s first NCAA title in the 50y free since Joe Bottom won it three straight times between No Trojan has won the 100y free at the NCAAs since Bottom in Morozov, the Pac-12 champion in both events, is the top seed in the 100y free (by more than half a second) and is fourth in the 50y free. He is also 21st in the 200y free. Morozov was sixth in the 50 and fourth in the 100 last season. Morozov s this year makes him the 14th fastest man ever in the race Sophomore Dimitri Colupaev is the second seed in the 200y free, seventh in the 200y IM and 10th in the 100y free. The Pac-12 champion in the 200y free, he was sixth in the event last year at the NCAA Championships and will try to become the first Trojan to win the event at the NCAAs since Klete Keller in 2001 Junior Alex Lendrum is the third seed in the 200y back, 10th seed in the 200y IM and 11th in the 100y back. Lendrum is after USC s first backstroke title since Lenny Krayzelburg won the 200 in 1997 Freshman Cristian Quintero, who joined the Trojans in February, is the 10th seed in the 500y and the 11th in the 1650y free. He will also swim the 200y free. Senior Jeff Daniels, part of USC s All-American 200y and 400y free relays last year, and junior Nick Karpov, part of an All-American 800y free relay as a freshman, are each making their third NCAA appearances Sophomores Jack Wagner, part of USC s All-American 800y free relay last year, and Chase Bloch, who helped USC to the consolation final in the 200y medley relay, are repeat NCAA performers. Freshmen Chad Bobrosky and Sergio Lujan Rivera join Quintero in making their NCAA Championships debut USC is USC NOTES seeking its first NCAA relay title since winning the 800y free relay in It won its last 400y free relay title in 1977 and has never won the 200y free relay. USC AT THE 2012 PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS Sophomore Vladimir Morozov won USC s first Pac-12 title in the 50y free since 1996 and Troy s first in the 100y free since 1992 and was the first Trojan to win both in the same meet since 1977 to lead the Trojans at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships. Morozov was also sixth in the 200y free Sophomore Dimitri Colupaev repeated as champion in the 200y free, the first Trojan to do so at the conference meet since Klete Keller in He was also fifth in the 100y free Freshman Cristian Quintero had an excellent debut, registering a trio of top 5 finishes. He was second in both the 500y and 1650y free and fifth in the 200y free Junior Alex Lendrum posted a career-conference-best fourth in the 200y back in his third straight final in the race and was seventh in the 100y back Other Pac-12 finalists included freshman Sergio Lujan Rivera in both the 100y and 200y breast, senior Jeff Daniels in the 100y free, freshman Chad Bobrosky in the 500y free, sophomore Michael Godbe in the 200y free, junior Justin DiFederico in the 200y fly and freshman Jordan Gear on platform. Senior Julian Bonse also posted a top 8 finish in the 1650y free The Trojans came within a quarter of second from winning its first conference title in the 400y free relay since 1977, finishing second USC was even closer to its first 200y free relay title since 1996, coming within 0.04 Then there was Troy s 800y free relay, which finished second by USC Swimming and Diving 1

2 CHASE BLOCH Free/Back 6-0 Sophomore Westlake, CA Oaks Christian H.S. THIS SEASON: A versatile swimmer, 2012 sophomore Chase Bloch established himself as a key performer as a freshman and looks to build on his NCAA Championships debut last season. He is tied as USC s second-fastest Trojan ever in the 100y fly and tied for eighth in the 200y back... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, he was 10th in the 100y fly (57.68) and 200y back (1:44.00) and 11th in the 100y back (48.16). 2011: Bloch raced in three events at the 2011 NCAA Championships as a freshman, taking 33rd in the 200y fly (1:47.68), 35th in the 100y fly (47.50) and swam on Troy s 12th-place 200y medley relay (1:26.61) At the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, Bloch was ninth in the 200y fly (1:46.74), 12th in the 100y fly (47.32) and 17th in the 100y back (48.54) He competed in the 2011 U.S. Nationals, where he was 4th in the C final of the 200m back. He was also 39th in the 100m fly. HIGH SCHOOL: Bloch prepped at Oaks Christian High in Westlake, Calif., where he was the 2010 L.A. Daily News Male Athlete of the Year and the 2009 and 2010 L.A. Daily News and Ventura County Star Swimmer of the Year. As a 2010 senior, Bloch was the NISCA High School national champion in the 100y fly. He won 2010 Southern Section CIF Division II titles in the 100y fly and 100y back. His 100y fly time of was the second-fastest in state history and his that won the 100y back was a division record As a 2009 junior, his 100y fly time broke the 2000 division record (48.42) held by Olympic silver medalist Michael Cavic. The time was seventh fastest in the country that year. He was also second in the 200y free. Bloch, who won 2007 and 2009 CIF Division III titles in the 500y free, was a 2009 Speedo Junior National Championships finalist in the 100y fly and was second in the B final of the 100y back and also competed at the 2009 U.S. World Championship Trials. PERSONAL: He was born in Maui on Oct. 16, BLOCH S PERSONAL RECORDS: 100-yard fly yard free 1: yard back yard back 1:44.00 CHAD BOBROSKY Free 6-1 Freshman Calgary, Canada Bishop Carroll Senior THIS SEASON: Freshman freestyler Chad Bobrosky is a top-flight freestyler who has immediately bolstered USC s middle-distance events. A Canadian national team member, he also improves USC s already strong freestyle relays... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, he was a finalist in the 500y free, taking fifth (4:19.13), and was 11th in the 200y free (1:36.39) and 17th in the 200y back (1:46.55). He also helped USC to second in the 800y free relay. HIGH SCHOOL: Bobrosky prepped at Bishop Carroll Senior High in Calgary, Canada. In the 2011 summer, he represented Canada at the 2011 World Championships, taking 27th in the 200m free (1:49.01) and swimming the third leg of Canada s 10th-place 4x200m free relay. He earned his World Championships berth (as the youngest member of Canada s men s national team) by taking second in the 200m free (1:49.34) at the Canadian World Championship Trials. Bobrosky also competed at the FINA World Juniors in Lima, Peru, where he won the 200m free (1:49.13) He was also a member of the Canadian Youth Olympic team in 2010 and was the Rookie of the Meet at his first senior national meet in 2008 Bobrosky is an accomplished triathlete who has won many provincial age group events and has also run cross country. 3 DIMITRI COLUPAEV Free/IM 6-2 Sophomore Mainz, Germany Gustav-Stresemann- Wirtschaftsschule THIS SEASON: Sophomore Dimitri Colupaev, a German national team member who was an All-American and Pac-10 champion as a freshman, is a versatile swimmer specializing in the freestyle and IM who has continued to play a huge role for the Trojans in dual meets and the postseason. He is USC s record holder in the 200y IM, second-fastest ever in the 100y and 200y free and the ninth-fastest in the 100y breast... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, Colupaev repeated as conference champion in the 200y free, winning in 1: He was also fifth in the 100y free (43.37) and helped USC to second-place in the 200y, 400y and 800y free relays. 2011: Colupaev was a three-time All-American as a 2011 freshman, finishing sixth in the 200y free (1:33.47) at the NCAA Championships and helping Troy to third in both the 400y and 800y free relays. The 400y free relay set a school record (2:50.32). He just missed earning a second swim in the 100y free, finishing 17th (43.10) and was 29th in the 200y IM (1:45.89) At the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, He won a title in the 200y free at the 2011 Pac-10s, winning the race in 1:34.05 in a wireto-wire effort. He was also 10th in the 200y IM (1:46.35) and 11th in the 100y free (43.72). HIGH SCHOOL: Colupaev, who prepped in his native Germany, competed at the 2009 European Short Course Championships, where he was a 100m and 200m free finalist and competed in the 200m IM and the 200m free relay He won the 200m IM at the 2008 Junior World Championships and helped Germany to second in the 800y free relay Was second in the 200m IM at the 2008 German Nationals and 2008 Olympic Trials as well as at the 2008 and 2009 German Short Course Nationals. (sc) JEFF DANIELS Free 6-2 Senior Clovis, CA Clovis West HS THIS SEASON: Jeff Daniels, a 2012 senior, is among USC s top returning sprinters who was a two-time All-American last year on relays. He has become a key dual-meet performer individually and on relays and is a strong team leader. He is Troy s fifth-fastest ever in the 50y free and tied for eighth in the 100y free... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, he secured his second conference final, taking sixth in the 100y free (43.70). He posted a PR in prelims (43.56). He was also 17th in the 50y free (19.82) and swam on USC s second-place 200y and 400y free relays. 2011: Daniels earned his first All-American honors as a 2011 junior cocaptain, helping USC to a fifth-place in the 200y free relay (and school record 1:16.98) and to third in the 400y free relay. He was also 28th in the 50y free (19.78)... At the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, Daniels was 20th in the 50y free (20.38) and 24th in the 100y fly (50.76). 2010: Daniels made his NCAA Championships debut as a 2010 sophomore, taking 28th in the 50y free (19.86) and 36th in the 100y free (43.98). Daniels also led off Troy s top 200y and 400y free relays At the 2009 Pac-10 Championships, Daniels was 14th in both the 50y (19.84) and 100y free (43.81) and helped the 200y free relay set a school record (1:18.11). HIGH SCHOOL: Daniels, who prepped at Clovis (Calif.) West High, competed in two events at the 2008 Olympic Trials, tying for 59th in the 50m free (23.26) and finishing 79th in the 100m free (51.27) posting personal bests in both races The 2008 Fresno Bee Swimmer of the Year and a four-year prep All-American, Daniels was a 12-time CIF Central Section champion, including titles as a senior in the 50y and 100y free. He won the Central Section 50y free each year in school and won the 100y free also as a junior He also won 15 Tri-River Athletic Conference titles He also played four years of water polo. 4 NICK KARPOV Back/Free 6-0 Junior Avondale Secondary Toronto, Canada THIS SEASON: Nick Karpov, is a 2012 junior from Canada, is among USC s top returning backstrokers who looks to make a return to his All- American level reached as a freshman and build on back-to-back NCAA appearances. He is USC s fourth-fastest ever in the 100y back and seventh in the 200y back... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, Karpov was 15th in the 100y back (48.93) and 20th in the 200y back (1:47.70). 2011: Karpov competed in three events at the 2011 NCAA Championships as a sophomore, finishing 23rd in the 100y back (47.38), 25th in the 200y back (1:43.99) and helped USC to 12th in the 200y medley relay At the 2011 Pac-10s, Karpov earned his second career finals appearance, taking eighth in the 200y back (1:44.44). He was also 11th in the 100y back (47.72) and 29th in the 50y free (20.92) He was tabbed a 2011 Pac-10 All-Academic team honorable mention pick. 2010: Karpov, who joined the Trojans as a freshman in the spring of 2010, swam on two relays at the 2010 NCAA Championships. He earned All-American honors by helping USC to a sixth-place finish in the 800y free relay. He also led off USC s 13th-place 200y medley relay At the 2010 Pac-10s, Karpov was a finalist in the 100y back, claiming seventh in His in prelims was USC s top time of the year. A versatile swimmer whose wide array of events is a big asset in dual meets and the postseason, Lendrum is the second-fastest Trojan ever in the 100y and 200y back and the 200y IM. He is also one of the team s top students in the classroom... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, Lendrum was a career-best fourth in the 200y back (1:42.42). He was also seventh in the 100y back and 10th in the 200y IM. 2011: Lendrum scored his first individual points at the NCAA Championships as a 2011 sophomore, claiming 13th in the 200y back in 1: He was also 26th in the 100y back (47.59) and 39th in the 200y IM (1:47.02) and led off USC s 11th-place 400y medley relay His 2011 bests in the 100y back (47.59) and 200y back (1:42.29) made him the fifth and third fastest Trojan ever in the respective events... At the 2011 Pac-10s, he reached the 200y back final for the second year in a row, taking sixth in 1: He was also 10th in the 100y back (47.66) and 15th in the 200y IM (1:48.26) His 1:42.29 in the 200y back at the Winter Sectionals was USC s best in the event last year... He earned 2011 Pac-10 All-Academic first team honors with a 3.68 in bio-chemistry He was a finalist at the 2011 U.S. Nationals, finishing fifth in the 200m back in 1: He was also sixth in the B final of the 100y back (55.39) and 42nd in the 200m IM (2:04.96). 2010: Lendrum competed in three events at the 2010 NCAA Championships as a freshman, taking 20th in the 200y back (1:43.03), 37th in the 100y back (48.54) and helped USC to 16th in the 400y medley relay At the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, he reached the final of the 200y back, taking eighth (1:45.00) after going 1:42.99 in prelims. He was also 10th in the 400y IM (3:50.61) and 20th in the 200y IM (1:48.21). HIGH SCHOOL: Lendrum was the Arizona 5A Swimmer of the Year as a 2009 senior, a 12-time prep All-American and a three-year Scholastic All- American who graduated from Brophy Prep in Phoenix At the Arizona Class 5A Division I Championships in 2008, he was part of four state records. He broke the record in the 500y free (4:27.67) and tied it in the 200y IM (1:49.41) in helping Brophy win its 21st consecutive state title. He won the 200y free state title as a junior. Overall, he holds 19 state records and 32 club records in Arizona At the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, he was 44th in the 200m back At the 2009 U.S. World Championship Trials, he was 15th in the 200m back Earned his school s Scholar Athlete Award and was an AP Scholar with Distinction. 5 SERGIO LUJAN RIVERA Breast 5-11 Freshman The Bolles School Jacksonville, FL THIS SEASON: Sergio Lujan Rivera, a 2012 freshman, is a skilled breaststroker, particularly over 100 yards but improving over 200 as well... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, he was a two-time finalist, taking eighth in both the 100y (54.80) and 200y breast (2:02.91). He went faster in both prelims, going and 2:00.16, respectively, setting PRs in both. HIGH SCHOOL: Lujan Rivera prepped at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., where he helped extend his school s state-title win streak to 23 by the time he was a 2011 senior. Lujan Rivera, a prep All- American won three state titles in the 100y breast from and was also part of a 2009 national high school record in the 200y medley relay. PERSONAL: He was born on Feb. 11, LUJAN RIVERA S PERSONAL RECORDS: 100-yard breast yard breast 2:00.16 VLADIMIR MOROZOV Free 6-1 Sophomore Torrance, CA Torrance HS THIS SEASON: Vladimir Morozov, a former member of the Russian national team who moved to the U.S. five years ago, is a 2012 sophomore who is among the NCAA s top sprinters. A year after repeatedly lowering USC s sprint records, Morozov is now a two-time Pac-12 champion seeking his first NCAA crowns while leading the Trojans improved relays. In addition to holding USC s records in the 50y and 100y free, he shares schools marks in the 200y and 400y free relays and the 200y and 400y medley relays and is third fastest at USC in the 100y back... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, Morozov won USC s first conference title in the 50y free since 1996 and Troy s first in the 100y free since 1992 and was the first Trojan to win both in the same meet since Morozov, who was also sixth in the 200y free, also led USC s 200y and 400y free relays to second-place finishes that were a combined 0.29 seconds out of first place. 2011: Morozov, the 2011 Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year, put together one of USC s all-time best freshman seasons, becoming a four-time All- American, a three-time Pac-10 finalist and breaking a pair of school records the 50y and 100y free a combined 12 times. Morozov earned All-American honors with his fourth-place finish in the 100y free (41:88, PR) at the 2011 NCAA Championships and sixth-place in the 50y free (19.38) and by leading USC s 400y free relay to third place and its 200y free relay to fifth. His time in the 100y free marked the seventh time on the year he lowered the mark in the event. Prior to the season, the school record had stood since 1991 Going head-to-head with Cal senior champion Nathan Adrian at the 2011 Pac-10s, Morozov took second in both the 50y (19.06, PR) and 100y free (41.93). His 50 time yet again lowered his school record while his prelim time in the 100y (41.92) reset that mark. He was also third in the 100y back (46.90) approaching USC s long-time record in the event (46.55)... Morozov was fourth in the 50y free and third in the 100y free at the 2010 U.S. Short Course Championships in December and also helped USC to a win in the 200y free relay. He earned national swimmer of the week notice for his efforts. HIGH SCHOOL: Morozov, who moved to the U.S. as a prep freshman, attended Torrance (Calif.) High by way of Siberia and was named Swimming World s 2010 Male High School Swimmer of the Year. The fivetime prep All-American as a senior finished his brilliant high school career by setting national high school records at the 2010 CIF Southern Section Division III Championships and at the 2010 CIF Southern Section Masters Meet. His first record came at the CIF Division III Championships, where his opening 50 yards of the 200y free relay (19.43) broke a national mark. After winning CIF titles in the 100y fly and the 100y back for the second year in a row, he came back at the CIF Masters meet to lead off a 400y free relay with a for another national high school record. He also won Masters titles in the 100y fly (47.97) and 100y back (47.55). Those times, as well as his in the 100y free and a in the 50y free were all Masters records The 2009 and 2010 South Bay Daily Breeze Swimmer of the Year, he won the 100m free at the 2008 Junior Nationals. 6 CRISTIAN QUINTERO Free 6-5 Freshman Caracas, Venezuela THIS SEASON: Venezuelan freshman Cristian Quintero joined the Trojans late in the spring semester and had an immediate impact... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, he was a three-time top 5 finalist, taking second in both the 500y free (4:17.83) and the 1650y free (14:55.58). He was also fifth in the 200y free (1:36.15).
