2 WOC 2023 in Switzerland» To be in Switzerland for WOC 2023 means that runners, teams, spectators, media representatives and IOF-delegates will feel the challenge of the demanding competitions in a spectacular mountain world.» Our vision is to make WOC 2023 an unforgettable event for everyone and we want to put orienteering on a new level of involvement for the spectators on site and the viewers at home for both non-orienteers and insiders.» To generate maximum interest and attention at the sport and tourism-industry level, we combine WOC 2023 with Central Europe s premium multiday O-event: Swiss O Week (SOW).» Swiss Orienteering has a lot of experience in organising international orienteering events. The organizing committee for WOC 2023 consists of members of the very experienced World Cup organising team from the last 10 years.

3 Our vision :48 Saila Kinni 51: km/h Ø BMP 182» Our vision is to organise the WOC with technically demanding competitions for the athletes and transmit the action, the excitement and the emotions from the forest to the spectators in the arena and to the TV viewer at home with new technologies and ideas.» Parallel to WOC 2023, we envision hosting the first e-woc in orienteering history. The best orienteering gamers in the game world shall come together in Flims Laax Falera and fight for the e-woc-title in the same virtual terrain as the traditional orienteering runners.

4 Free participation» Our vision and goal is to invite all teams (3 women, 3 men, 2 officials) for free to participate at WOC 2023 in Switzerland. This invitation includes: Starting fee for all WOC races Accommodation in an apartment (with self-cooking possiblites, without meals) for 7 nights Free transport in the host region Flims Laax Falera» Team members only must pay the official accreditation fee but no starting fee. The accreditation fee will be around EUR 100. per person.

6 Event Centre The event centre, event office, ceremony square and gamer s area will be in the Rocksresort area in Laax Murschetg. Accommodation Rocksresort apartments with 2-8 beds/apartment, 500 beds, hotel service or self-cooking facility Peaks Place apartments with 2-7 beds/apartment, 250 beds, hotel service or self-cooking facility All teams will be offered an accommodation in apartments in the Rocksresort or Peaks Place for 7 days (included in the accreditation fee) for a team size of maximum 8 persons. Additional team members can be entered but must pay the costs of the accommodation. We deliberately refrain from low-budget accommodation, because we want to invite all teams with our attractive offer. We hope to improve the competition preparation for all athletes.

7 Terrain and Maps The area was formed years ago by a big land-/rockslide from Flimserstein. Because of the landslide, there are countless stones, boulders, depressions, hills and other orienteering objects. The terrain around Flims is one of the best we can offer in Switzerland. With Urs Steiner and Beat Imhof as the main cartographers, we have the map makers of WOC 2003 and WOC 2012 and of numerous World Cup races in our team. They belong to the most experienced cartographers in the world.

8 Arenas WOC 2023 will take place with two arenas, both within walking distance from the event centre. Both arenas offer space for spectators natural stands for the spectators arena passages big screen WiFi VIP-zone media zone

9 In conjunction with WOC 2023 the Swiss O Week will take place. Starting on Sunday, the participants can run 6 stages within one week. Some of them in the same areas as the WOC-runners a few days before, others in spectacular landscape up to 3000m above sea level! The Swiss O Week is the biggest orienteering event in Switzerland and takes place since The last events 2014 (Zermatt) and 2016 (St. Moritz) had more than 4000 participants. 11 Flims Laax Falera The area of Flims Laax Falera offers excellent terrain, accurate maps, nice views and a great touristic region. Flims Laax Falera is one of the best-known tourist region in Switzerland with high capacity accommodations for all levels, beautiful nature but still easily accessible from Chur and Zurich by car, by train or bus. As the WOC competitions will be in conjunction with spectacular competitions and tourist attractions of the Swiss O Week, we offer the perfect summer holiday for orienteers with an enthusiastic crowd in the WOC arenas.

12 Lakes The lakes Caumasee, Crestasee and Laaxersee invite you to relax, swim and sunbathe. With a water temperature of over 20 degrees, the lakes are also suitable for the whole family.

13 Rhine gorge The «Swiss Grand Canyon» is always worth a visit. The over 300m high cliffs of the Rhine Gorge can be experienced with the Rhaetian Railway, on foot, by electric bike or by water.

14 UNESCO World Heritage Sardona In hardly any other place the traces of the formation of mountains are as clear as in the region above Flims. For this reason, the tectonic arena Sardona was added to the World Heritage in 2008 by UNESCO along with a hectare area. In the visitor s pavilion Sardona at the Sardonahütte visitors will learn more about the formation of the Alps and the Flims landslide, which created the unique orienteering terrain.

15 Via Ferrata Pinut The more than 100-year-old Via Ferrata on the Flimserstein is a challenge rewarded with an unimaginable panorama.

16 Hiking and biking trail network 250 km of hiking trails and 330 km of biking trails offer something for all ages and strength classes.
