5 1.3 Event and Contact information Name of Event: 2012 Mondello ITU Triathlon Sprint European Cup Race Date: 29th September 2012 Event Organizer: Carlo Alberto Sausa E mail: proffice@triathlondelmediterraneo.it Website National Federation: Italian Triathlon Federation Contact: Gabriella Lorenzi International Technical Area Athletes/Nfs Team Support E mai gabriellalorenzi@fitri.it Event regulations: Official Results: ITU Triathlon Competition Rules apply published after the race on the official web sites: VENUE 2.1 Venue Mondello is the most renowned seaside resort lying few kilometres from Palermo (Sicily), characterized by crystallike waters and uncontaminated sea floors with richest underwater vegetation and caves. The enchanting scenario of Mondello will host the first edition of the ITU Triathlon Sprint European Cup 2.2 Doping Control Doping control will be performed according to ITU/WADA antidoping rules. The athletes must carry their identification card to the doping control facilities 2.3 Medical Services The medical area is located inside the Athletes Village. LOC ensures n. 4 ambulances and 2 medical tents located nearest the transition area. Medical services will be available on site on race day. Medical and paramedical personnel will be available during the familiarization, competition times and also the day before race. 2.4 Bike assistance Bike assistance available nearest the Transition Area. 6 2.5 Race office The Race Office will available as follows: Friday 28th from 17:00 to 20:00: Registration and Accreditation Stabilimento Alle Terrazze, Viale Regina Elena Saturday 29th from 08:30 to 14:00: Information Desk at Partnership Area, nearest Transition Area 2.6 Security A private security company will be responsible for the venue security. TRAINING 3.1 Sport Massage service Sports Massages will be available to the athletes before and after the race in the Athlete s Village. 3.2 Course familiarization Course familiarization is scheduled on Friday 28 th sept. Swimming and bike course familiarization will be carried out with the assistance of medical staff and Police to escort athletes along the course. Friday 28 th sept. RACE INFORMATION 4.1 Registration and payment deadline According to the ITU Competition Rules, posted on the ITU website Elite athletes must sign the ITU Athletes Agreement, which states that any dispute arising from the ITU Rules that cannot be settled by its existing appeal procedure, shall be settled finally by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, to the exclusion of recourse to ordinary courts. Once signed, the ITU Athletes Agreement is valid until the end of the competition year it has been signed. 9 4.2 Conduct of athletes According to the ITU Competition Rules, posted on the ITU website athletes will: Practice good sportsmanship at all times; Be responsible for their own safety and the safety of others; Know, understand and follow the ITU Competition Rules, available from their NFs and on Obey traffic regulations and instructions from race officials. Treat other athletes, officials, volunteers, and spectators with respect and courtesy. Avoid the use of abusive language. Inform a Technical Official after withdrawing from the race. Compete without receiving assistance other than from event personnel and officials. 4.3 Insurance The LOC has insurance with a reputable insurance company, a standard public liability and property damage insurance policy to cover the risks of insurable nature under this Agreement and the staging of the Event and related events. The insurance policy has named, as insured, LOC, ETU, the Global Partners, Global Sponsors, the ETU Executive Board and Staff, the ITU International Officials, and the respective LOC directors, officers, agents, volunteers, employees and contractors. All athletes and team support personal must carry their own medical insurance. 4.4 Warm up Warm up will be available as follows: Saturday 29th from 13:30 to 14:15 WOMEN Saturday 29th from 15:30 to 16:15 MEN 4.5 Uniform check Athletes must comply with the ITU Uniform Rules: The Uniform Check will take place in the athletes lounge on the Race Day. The Pasta Party is free for all athletes. It will take place at Athletes Village from to Timing bands The athletes will receive their timing bands in the Athletes Lounge on race day Athletes have to return the timing band at the Athletes Lounge, in order to collect their bike from the Transition Area, after the race. 4.9 Prize Money Prize Money: paid net of all taxes 1st. 1,565 EUR W/M 2nd. 1,250 EUR W/M 3rd. 935 EUR W/M 4th. 625 EUR W/M 5th. 500 EUR W/M 6th. 440 EUR W/M 7th. 375 EUR W/M 8th. 250 EUR W/M 9th. 185 EUR W/M 10th. 125 EUR W/M The athletes during the Registration will receive the 2012 Prize Money Claim Form, in order to claim prize money from the European Triathlon Union (ETU). The athlete has to give his/her full and correct address and bank details in clear and legible writing. If incorrect information is provided, a bank transfer of prize money will not be possible. 11 4.10 FOP information Start The race will start with swim section from Mondello s beach near the Transition Area. The start area will be equipped with platform and carpet for swim start and athletes positioning Swim Course Wetsuit use is not expected Water temperature: 23 24C Course: 1 lap of 750mt rectangular course delimited by n. 2 buoys. The distance between the 1st and 2 nd is 100 mt, while their distance from the shore is 325 mt. Swim exit is located at the left hand side of the start area and marked by finish gantry and exit ramp covered in anti slippery carpet with chute from beach to the street level. (h. ca. cm 100). Distance from start gantry to finish is about 100 mt Transition Area Distance from the swim exit to the transition area: 60mt. Each bike rack will be identified by athletes surname and flag Bike Course Bike course: 3 laps of 6,7km. Street slope of 4 5% and large turn buoys. The course is secure and totally closed from traffic. The road surface is hard, smooth and without debris or other hazard Wheel Station N 2 wheel stations located after the Transition area and the furthest point of bike section Run Course 4 laps of 1.25 km Flat course Inside the course a water and supplement supply area will be available for athletes Finish Area Finish area is covered in blue carpet, secure and equipped with podium, entertainment area, 100 seat spectator stand, big screen, refreshment and media area Aid Stations Aid stations are located on the run course and at the finish Weather Conditions Maximum Temp 27,00ºC Minimum Temp 20,00ºC Rain 45 mm Results Results will be uploaded after the race in the official web sites: Protest & Appeals Standard procedures will be followed according to the ITU Competition Rules. 14 6. ACCREDITATION LOC will provide to the Athletes, Coaches, Technical Officials and Media the official accreditation card, according to the ITU Rules. Accreditation cards will be handed in the Race Office and will provide access to specific areas for the which only accredited persons will be allowed to access. 7.
