This form & a copy of the athletes Classification I.D. must be ed to ann-louise.edwards@det.qld.gov.au by 4pm Friday 4 August 2017.
2 2017 Metropolitan West Track and Field Trials Years Athletes Competing in a Multi-Class Event (AWD) Conditions for the Inclusion of AWD Athletes Nominations Competitors will be nominated through their District for inclusion in the District Nominations and be included in the District team. Events Events are conducted following IPC and International Deaf Sports guidelines. The following track events will be offered to Para Athletes: 100m / 200m / 400m/ 800m and 1500m. The following field events will be offered to Para Athletes: Long Jump / Shot Put / Discus & Javelin. It is important to note that individual and multi-age events are offered at the State Championships. AWD Athletes will be selected in the Met West Team based on those age groups. Classification Competitors require an official Provisional / Temporary OR National level classification from Australian Paralympic Committee, Sporting Wheelies, Life Stream Foundation / AUSRAPID or Deaf Sports & Recreation Queensland / Deaf Sports Australia. The classes used are in the Australian athletics classification system. The classes are: T/F 01 Hearing impairment (Deaf Sport classes) T/F Visual impairment (Paralympic Classes) T/F 20 Intellectual impairment (Paralympic Classes) T/F Athletes with hypertonia, ataxia or athetosis who compete sitting (Paralympic Classes) T/F Athletes with hypertonia, ataxia or athetosis who compete standing (Paralympic Classes) Cerebral Palsy & Acquired Brain Injury (Paralympic Classes) T/F Athletes with Short Stature (Paralympic Classes) T/F & T47 Athletes with limb deficiency, muscle weakness or joint restrictions who compete standing (Paralympic Classes) T Wheelchair (Track Events) (Paralympic Classes) F Wheelchair (Field Events) (Paralympic Classes) T/F 60 Transplant Recipients (Transplant Sport classes) Details regarding the classification process can be found at; advisorycommittee.aspx or by contacting the Metropolitan West School Sport Office on Athletes with more than one impairment type may be eligible for multiple classifications, should they meet the minimal criteria for each of the eligible classes. In QSS approved competition, athletes may only compete under one classification. The classification must be nominated when entering the relevant event/competition pathway and may not change throughout the course of the event. TO COMPETE AT QSS EVENTS PARA ATHLETES MUST BE OF ELIGIBLE CLASSIFICATION ON THE MASTERLIST (ATHLETICS AUSTRALIA). PARA ATHLETES NOT ON THE MASTERLIST WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT THEIR CLASSIFICATION CARD / LETTER TO THE PARA MANAGER OR COORDINATOR PRIOR TO THE START OF COMPETITION. All competitors who have not been officially classified will have to complete classification documents as a matter of urgency. Qualifying Times and Distances Qualifying standards are set as a percentage of Australian MDS.
