1 8 Bidding and Hosting Fast Facts 1. Terminology: Categories: Elite: Athletes with an International Competition Card (includes Elite Para) Junior: Elite Athletes Ages 16 to 19 U23: Elite Athletes Ages 16 to 23 (minimum dictated by race distance) Age Group: Non-elite general category (Min dictated by race distance) Open Paratriathlon: Non-elite general paratriathlon category (Min dictated by race distance) Events: Age Group Qualification Event: An event with World Championship qualifying spots for Age Group athletes. This may include any World Championship distance Triathlon or Multisport event. These are typically hosted as part of National Championship Events, however, spots can be allocated separately. National Multisport Championship Event: A National Championship in any of the Multisport disciplines (Duathlon, Aquathlon, Cross Triathlon, Long Distance Triathlon, Aquabike, and Winter Triathlon) that includes Junior, U23, Elite, Elite Paratriathlon, Age Group and Open Paratriathlon categories. Priority will always be given to events that include Paratriathlon. National Triathlon Championship Event: A National Championship in the Sprint, Standard and Team Relay triathlon disciplines that includes Junior, U23, Elite, Elite Paratriathlon, Age Group and Open Paratriathlon categories. Priority will always be given to events that include Para. National Championship events that align with CAMTRI will also be given priority. Development Series: A regional or national event that caters specifically to Junior, U23, Elite and Elite Para categories in the Super Sprint, Sprint, Standard and Mixed Team Relay triathlon disciplines. These are critical development team races. CAMTRI Events: There are three different levels of CAMTRI events: 1. CAMTRI Continental Cup 2. CAMTRI Continental Championship 3. CAMTRI Regional Championship CAMTRI caters specifically to Junior, U23, Elite and Elite Paratriathlon categories in the Sprint, Standard and Mixed Team Relay triathlon disciplines. CAMTRI is a subdivision of the ITU, and these races include a regional international component and draw from a larger participant base in the Junior, U23, Elite and Elite Para categories. These are critical development team races, and include an opportunity for athletes in these targeted groups to gain ITU ranking points. CAMTRI Continental Cup events that run in a semi/final format will be given priority.

Summary of Fee Structure BID OPTIONS BASE FEE PER ATHLETE FEE Age Group World Championship Qualification $750/Spot $0 National Multisport Championship (Elite & Age Group) $1,250 $15 Development Series (Non-CAMTRI) $1,500 $15 CAMTRI/Development Series $3,000 $15 National Triathlon Championship (Elite & Age Group) $6,000 $15 a. Base fees in light yellow are waived if a higher category is also hosted only the highest base fee will be charged b. Age Group World Championship spots must be purchased from the Provincial Sport Organizations c. The National Multisport Championship base fee is charged once, regardless of the number of disciplines held priority is given to events that hold multiple disciplines 5. Distribution of Age Group World Championship Qualifying Spots Canada is allocated 20 spots (per age group, per gender) for all international Age Group World Championship events, and 25 slots if the Age Group World Championship event is held domestically. For 8, Triathlo Ca ada is ovi g to a Qualificatio O ly odel for Age Group World Cha pio ship spots, meaning that athletes MUST race and qualify if they wish to go to the World Championships. These spots will be more valuable to athletes beginning in the 2018 season. The distribution process will be as follows: 1. Triathlon Canada will allocate these slots to the Provincial Sport Organizations (PSO) based on percentage of total membership, with at least one spot going to each province. 2. The PSOs will have the first opportunity to purchase the number of spots allocated to their province. 3. The PSOs will have sole control over distributing spots purchased for their province. 4. If a PSO chooses NOT to purchase the spots allocated, these will go back into the pool to be distributed based on total membership a. Allocatio of a si gle Age Group Qualifyi g Spot ea s o e spot per age group per gender for the event (First place athlete in every age group is eligible to claim a spot) b. Ideally, these spots should be used first at designated Provincial Championship events Triathlon Canada retains the right to allocate spots to National Championship events, and to the Age Group Charity Entry Program. Obligations: 1. The PSOs are responsible for working with the Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) for races designated to host Age Group World Championship spots to ensure that the race is run safely and has an appropriate number of officials 2. The PSO MUST ensure that results with identified World Championship qualifiers are submitted to Triathlon Canada within one week of the qualification event. 3. There is to be NO MARK UP of price for spots charged to the Local Organizing Committees
