6 6 REGISTRATION PROCESS FACTORS: You must be affiliated to the Mexican Triathlon Federation. We encourage you to get to know all the benefits of being affiliated and, if you have not yet done so, get your affiliation by internet at: You can get a one-day affiliation during your package pick-up No registrations are permitted by telephone or by fax. No registrations will be accepted on the day of the competition. Registrations are non-transferable and not refundable. This includes cancellation due to natural phenomena, instructions by the authorities, a decision made by the competitor or any situation that keeps the event from taking place. IMPORTANT NOTE: When registering to this event, regardless of the form of payment, place or date of the registration, the competitor acknowledges, accepts and respects all the items listed in this document. 7 7 ONE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT SATURDAY MAY 26 TH, 2018 MAIN BALLROOM, HACIENDA TRES RÍOS COMPULSORY DAY-BEFORE MEETING 4:00 PM CHILDREN AGES :00 PM JUNIOR AGES 14-15, SPRINT BY AGES AND RELAY Your attendance is essential as competitors starting times will be confirmed at that time as well as any change or adjustments to the routes, waves, categories or awards. It is every athlete s responsibility to know their starting time. Starting with a wave that is not your category is a reason for being disqualified. REGISTRATION AND PACKAGE PICK-UP MAY 26 TH, :00-7:00 PM BASIC REQUIREMENTS All the categories and branches: Packages can be picked up only by the registered competitors. They must show the original and a copy of an official picture ID (INE voter s card, passport). For children s categories, birth-certificate of the child and the official picture ID of one of their parents. Competitors must complete and submit the original and a copy of the liability release. In the case of children s category, the release must be completed by one of the parents. All competitors for the relay category must be over 16. A competitor package will not be given to anyone who does not show an official ID and provides a signed liability release. For the children s category, it is mandatory to show proof of age. The competitor that does not pick up his / her package at the established place, day and time, will lose any rights resulting from the registration. When signing up, the athlete acknowledges and respects this fact. Packages may only be picked up at the established time, there will be no package pick-up at any other time nor on the day of the event. TRANSITION AREA Only competitors have access to this area, this also applies to children s categories. Parents and companions must wait outside the Transition Area. Bicycles will be brought into the area on Saturday May 26 th from 2:30 to 7:30 pm. Only bicycles may be left in the area. NO helmets, running shoes or any other personal equipment. NO BICYCLES WILL BE ALLOWED IN ON THE DAY OF THE COMPETITION. ACCEPT THE CHALLENGUE

18 18 SPECIFIC INFORMATION CLOAKROOM Located in the competition area and only for the use of competitors. Personal belongings will only be given back to every athlete showing a competitor s number. We recommend not to leave any valuables in the cloakroom as the Organizing Committee will not be held responsible for any damage or loss. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS (TOS) TOs are chosen by the Mexican Triathlon Federation in accordance to the general participation guidelines. Their decisions will be final. GUIDELINES reglamento_5.html BODY MARKING Body marking will be done in competitors arms and legs during package pick-up day at the transition area as they bring in their bicycle. AWARD CEREMONY Sunday May 27 th, 2018 in the Competition Area starting at 11:00 am or as soon as the Technical Delegate gives instructions. Awards will be presented to the top three in each category by gender and the three overall winners of each gender. All participants in the NV, NF, IA and IN children s categories will be acknowledge in the podium and for them, the medal of participation is their prize. RESULTS a) Preliminary results: They can be inquired about at the end of the competition. It is every athlete s responsibility to check his/her results. Any appeal must be made to the referee, a TO of the Mexican Triathlon Federation, before the award ceremony. b) Official results: Will be published on May 27 th after 6:00 pm on ACCEPT THE CHALLENGUE

19 19 SPECIFIC INFORMATION MEDICAL SERVICE Every competitor s state of health is their responsibility. We recommend that you get a check-up before the competition as neither the Committee nor the TOs will be responsible for any health related incident that may occur. The organizers will provide medical assistance in the case of any emergency. PARKING Two parking lots can be found inside the Nature Park Hacienda Tres Ríos; both of them close at 5:00 am. If you want to park inside, we recommend you to arrive before that hour. From 5:00 am until 1:00 pm another parking lot will be available across the highway. It is strictly forbidden to park on the highway. Parking is free of charge. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS Technical aspects not foreseen in this document will be solved by the Organizing Committee. In case of bad weather, the Technical Delegate will decide whether or not the event should take place in order to safeguard the integrity of the participants. 20 20 COMPETITION AND TOS GUIDELINES The event will be endorsed and sanctioned by the guidelines of the Mexican Triathlon Federation (FMTRI). The following issues, among others, will be REASONS FOR DISQUALIFICATION: Not assembling at the starting line Being in front of the starting line at the time the beginning of the competition is signaled Starting in a wave or group not corresponding to your category Not stepping on the starting, transition and finish line timing mats Not following the established route Getting on a vehicle during any part of the competition Violating specific drafting rules Not having the runner s number on show during the running course Not giving back the timing chip after crossing the finish line Unsportsmanlike conduct toward competitors, Organizing Committee or TOs Parents or guardians must verify the gear restrictions for the young competitor s bicycle, checking the official FMTRI guidelines: html. If the competitor does not abide by the corresponding restrictions, the competitor will be disqualified RULES FOR DRAFTING: In draft-legal events, no time trial bars can be used nor long aerobars or bicycles that have the gear changes in aerobars and frame. 21 21 COMPETITION AND ENDORSEMENT GUIDELINES SANCTIONS INCLUDE: During the 1st event without the allowed equipment (bicycle, wheels and aerobar) a minute will be added as a penalty in the Olympic distance and 30 seconds added in the case of Sprint to the athlete s overall time. If the athlete participates in a 2nd event without the legal equipment, the time added will be 2 minutes for Olympic and 1 minute for Sprint. If the same athlete were to show up to a third event without modifying his equipment for the competition, he/she will not be allowed to participate. RULES FOR DRAFTING WITH A BICYCLE: For draft-legal events, bicycles must have the following characteristics: The frame of the bicycle must follow the traditional pattern, this means that it is made up of two triangles. One main triangle with three main tubular straight or cone shaped elements, (that can be rounded, oval or flattened) and another triangle in the back. WHEELS: Wheels must have the following characteristics: Measure between 70 cm in diameter as a maximum and 55 cm as a minimum, including tires. Both wheels must be equal in diameter. Wheels must have at least 16 metal spokes. Spokes can be round, flat or oval, as long as their width does not go over 2.4 mm. Wheels not complying with the requirements above are allowed to be used as long as as they are included in the UCIs list of nonstandard wheels. No disc wheels may be used. 22 22 COMPETITION AND ENDORSEMENT GUIDELINES HANDLEBARS AND AEROBARS: Traditional drop handle bars are allowed. Aerobars are allowed as long as they do not extend beyond the foremost point of the brake hoods. There should be no free space between the left and right sides of the aerobar at the foremost point. The aerobars pointing to the front must be bridged/ joined with a solid factory bridge that joins both sides at the foremost point. Break levers should be mounted in the handlebar and not the aerobar. Water bottles may be mounted on the aerobar. DRAFTING will be allowed in every category, thus for Sprint the guidelines established by the Mexican Triathlon Federation will apply. DRAFTING IS NOT ALLOWED BETWEEN WOMEN AND MEN COMPETITORS ACCEPT THE CHALLENGUE
