5 Uniform & Aero Bars Uniform must cover torso. Clip-on aero bars may not extend beyond brake levers. Aero bars must be touching or joined both with solid standard factory bridge at forward most point. Bar-end plugs in place

6 6/3/17 Helmet Helmet Athletes must wear undamaged, unaltered protective head cover (helmet). Clearly labeled by the manufacturer as satisfying such standards (original sticker in place). Must meet or exceed safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). No aero helmets allowed. Chin straps snug. Clip-on aerobars may not extend beyond the brake levers of the handle bars. Helmet Athletes must wear undamaged, unaltered protective head cover (helmet) Clearly labeled by the manufacturer as satisfying such standards (original sticker in place) Must meet or exceed safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) No aero helmets allowed Only traditional drop-style handlebars and brake levers allowed. The ends of both handle bars must be securely capped with bar-end plugs. Place bike number sticker on the seat post or on the top tube of the frame. 524 Both wheels must have a minimum of 12-spokes. Disc wheels are not allowed. 6

7 Penalties Warning Verbal warning by Official to correct an issue during competition. Time Penalty :1 second penalty served in Transition, on the spot, or at the Penalty Box on the run course. Disqualification (Red Card): Athletes shown a Red Card by an Official are disqualified. Athletes who receive the Red Card may complete the race, except for those athletes who are lapped out. Overview of Competition Penalties Overview of Competition Penalties Missing Pre-race meeting without approval (DSQ). Missing Athlete Check-in (DSQ). Early start on swim (:1) False start on swim (Restart) Must make forward motion at swim start (:1). Blocking or interfering progress of another competitor (:1). All used gear must be in athlete s Transition Bin (:1). Crossing center line on bike course (DSQ). Helmet must be buckled when touching bike (:1). Riding bike in Transition (Mount/Dismount) (:1). Must follow prescribed course / correct lap count (:1 or DSQ). Unsportsmanlike conduct (DSQ). Swearing Violence 7

8 Penalty Box Lap Out Rule in Effect. Penalties not served in Transition will be served in Penalty Box. Penalty Box located corner of across road from Transition. Bib number will be written on white board at Penalty Box. Procedure: Identify yourself; Official will start timing penalty; Must remain in Penalty Box entire time; May not receive any outside assistance while serving penalty; Official will let you know when your time is served. Protest or Appeal: Penalties not served will result in disqualification. Check the Penalty Board. Protest: Athlete may file a Protest with Lead Official provided it has not been previously observed and ruled upon by Officials. Protest is filed against the conduct of an athlete, an athlete s equipment, an Official, or the conditions of the competition. Appeal: An Appeal is a request for review of a decision made by Officials or the Competition Jury. 8

9 Protest or Appeal: Generally, Protests or Appeals must follow these steps: 1. Notify Lead Official of intent to submit a Protest or Appeal within 5 minutes of finish time. 2. Lead Official will provide appropriate form for athlete to complete. 3. The completed Protest or Appeal form must be submitted to Lead Official no more than 15 minutes after the athlete s finish time. A deposit of 5 USD must accompany the Protest or Appeal form. Protest or Appeal: Protests or Appeals are reviewed by the Lead Official and the Competition Jury. All decisions on Appeals are final.
