2 MARINE SURVEYOR MARINE CONSULTANT 38 OAK HILL LANE ELKTON, MD SURVEY REPORT PURCHASE SURVEY SURVEY NO. xxxxx OCTOBER 20, 2014 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: This is to certify that the undersigned surveyor at the request of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, attended the trimaran in and out of the water at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, on the 20 th day of October in the year 2014, and did survey said vessel for Mr. xxxxx, while representing his interest as a prospective buyer. The vessel is a Corsair F-27 trimaran, designed by Ian Farrier and built by Corsair Marine, San Diego, California, which is presently located at 7 Go Moi Street, Phu Thuan Ward District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, (telephone number ), in the year 1987, as hull identification number xxxxxxxxxxx. The vessel s approximate measurements are: LOA 27 1, LWL 26 3, BEAM 19 1, DRAFT BOARD UP 1 2, DRAFT BOARD DOWN 4 11, and DISPLACEMENT 2,800 lb. The vessel s registration number is xxxxxxxxxx. ALL MAJOR HULL MEMBERS, wherever accessible, together with all surfaces, joints, bonds, fillets, webs, bulkheads, and hard curve areas were carefully inspected with particular care being devoted to areas of normal stress concentrations and possible bulkheads or other hard spots. Field methods of sounding and visual sighting were used. Also, the use of a moisture meter to determine the moisture content of the hull, decks, and other areas which could retain moisture causing damage to the vessel. HULL CONSTRUCTION: the vessel was built on a fiberglass and foam cored hulls. The hull s exterior finishing is a gel coat glazing. The decks are of a sandwiched core and fiberglass construction. I have noted the following: a) The fiberglass to resin ratio is good. b) The resin appears to have cured well. MEMBER ABYC SOCIETY OF ACCREDITED MARINE SURVEYORS

3 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 2 of 24 HULL CONSTRUCTION (cont.) c) The foredeck on the main hull is solid with no significant delamination or voids. d) The amas are solid with no significant delamination or voids. e) The cabin top is solid. The mast step appears to be in good condition with no deflection to the cabin top. There are two small areas of delamination (the size of a half dollar) on the starboard side at track and on the port side by the winch.

However, front starboard side wing beam has some poor repairs made to it. Also, there is some damage around the close locking bracket. h) The aluminum folding mechanisms on both amas appear to be in good condition with no structural defects noted. The bolts are in good condition. i) The main hull and amas appear to be in good condition and sounded out well. On the main hull, starboard side at the bow, there is a 3 x 3 area of repair. Behind that area, there is an 8 x 8 of repair. On the port ama, 5 from the bow, there is a small area of repair. Note, the mooring eye is pulling away from the hull. j) The transom appears to be solid and in good condition with no moisture.

5 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 4 of 24 HULL CONSTRUCTION (cont.) k) There are heavy paint blisters on the bottom of hull. No voids were found in the lay-up of the hulls. No signs of major repairs, damage, or hard grounding. l) The centerboard housing appears to be in good order, from what was accessible from the interior. I did not find any signs of structural defect. The owner and buyer stated that the centerboard would stick at times. During the sea trial, all worked fine. The centerboard was inaccessible for proper inspection due to sitting on the trailer.

6 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 5 of 24 HULL CONSTRUCTION (cont.) m) Where accessible for inspection, the hull to deck seam appears to be in good condition with no signs of separation. All thru-bolts are exposed, and I would recommend going over them and retorque them. n) The tabbing accessible for inspection appears to be in good order and well secured to the hull supports and structural members o) The bulkheads appear to be in good, structural condition. p) The compression post is in good, structural condition with no defects noted. q) The partitions for chain plates are solid. The teak veneer over them is delaminated on both sides.

7 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 6 of 24 HULL CONSTRUCTION (cont.) r) The deck supports where accessible for inspection are in good order. s) The hull stringers accessible for inspection appear to be in good condition with no signs of stress or deficiencies. t) The interior shows normal wear and tear for a vessel of its age. A new teak and holly floor was installed. u) The trampolines appear to be in fair condition. I have noted on starboard side front bracket for trampoline is not properly installed.

8 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 7 of 24 HULL CONSTRUCTION (cont.) MACHINERY: said vessel s auxiliary power is a 6 horsepower Mercury, outboard motor with approximately 20 hours logged. The motor s serial number was not accessible. There was no stray current damage to the lower unit. The linkage appears to be in good order. The outboard started easily, shifted well, and ran great. The mount for the outboard appears to be in fair condition. However, when pulled on, the motor mount did not flex. PROP: 7.8 x 8 three-blade aluminum prop, which is in good condition. When tested, the blades ran out true. RUDDER: the transom attached, retractable fiberglass rudder, which appears to be solid and in fair condition. The rudder does have some damage on the lower end. All hardware for securing the rudder is in good condition with no signs of structural failure. I did note the aluminum rudder

9 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 8 of 24 RUDDER (cont.) bracket, or housing, has a crack and a weld separating on the left side at the bottom bracket. STEERING SYSTEM: tiller steering system. All appear to be in good order. Refer to sea trial report for additional comments. RIGGING: HARDWARE - the two Maxwell #25 self-tailing, two-speed, primary winches are well secured to the coamings, in fair condition, and did work. The two Lewmar #30 two-speed winches are well secured to the cabin top, in fair condition, and did work. The one Lewmar #40 winch and Maxwell #22 halyard winches are well secured, in fair condition, and did work. As preventive maintenance, the winches need to be lubricated.

10 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 9 of 24 RIGGING (cont.) The vessel is equipped with a Furlex roller furling system for the headsail. The roller furling appear to be in good condition. The foil appears to be straight, and the swivel is in good condition. The furling system did work. The sheaves and blocks are in fair condition. STANDING RIGGING a) Kenyon aluminum deck step mast with boom and single set of foiled spreaders. The mast appears to be straight and in good condition. The boom appears to be straight, and in good condition. All stainless steel hardware accessible for inspection appear to be in good condition. b) The open-faced, chrome-plated, bronze turnbuckles appear to be in good order. Ample

11 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 10 of 24 RIGGING (cont.) adjustment remains on the turnbuckles. However, the turnbuckles are losing the chrome finishing. Also, the port side lower turnbuckle stud is bent. c) All swedged fittings that were accessible for inspection appear to be in good order. I did not detect any wires pulling from the fittings or cracking. d) The stays and shrouds accessible for inspection appear to be in good order. d) The chain plates appear to be well secured. The bulkheads where the chain plate are attached are solid. RUNNING RIGGING: weathered, but still in usable condition.

12 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 11 of 24 SAILS: I have noted the following: a) The mainsail is in good condition. b) The genoa is good condition c) The storm sail, flasher, and spinnaker are in like new condition. VENTILATION: does meet all requirements as per U.S.C.G. regulation and ABYC standard H The ventilation system is natural forced air. FUEL SYSTEM: the outboard is self-contained. ELECTRICAL:

13 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 12 of 24 ELECTRICAL (cont.) 12 VOLT SYSTEM - negative ground system with a fuse panel, circuit breaker panel, Perko battery switch, solar panel, and a 10 amp Guest battery charger. Operation of the battery charger was not possible due to no electricity. I have noted the following: a) The vessel is equipped with one Series 24 acid plate battery. b) The battery is not secured to the hull as per ABYC standard E The positive terminal end is covered as per ABYC standard E c) I did detect the following wiring violations and/or safety hazards with the 12 volt system: 1) In V-berth area, there are loose wire ends. 2) Back of access panel in the V-berth area, the buss bar is not secured. 3) Perko battery selector switch is not properly secured. 4) Backside of the 12 volt panel is not covered. 5) Backside of the fuse panel is not covered and has loose wire ends.

14 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 13 of 24 ELECTRICAL (cont.) 6) Ends for second battery are taped. 7) Battery is located on a shelf in the main cabin. d) The solar panel appears to be in good condition and in good working order. e) The cabin light worked, except for the following: light in V-berth. 120 VOLT SYSTEM - single 30 amp single phase system. The 120 volt system does not comply with ABYC standard E-11. The system is not properly installed. The backside of the panel is exposed to a storage locker and not covered. The extra double throw switch located beside the GFI receptacle is improper. There is no master breaker beside the shore power cord inlet. The wiring is not properly routed or secured. The GFIs could not be tested, due to no electricity. The inlet appears to be in good order, with no signs of overheating. The vessel is not equipped with a shore power cord.

15 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 14 of 24 BILGE PUMPS: none. FIRE PROTECTION: ABYC standard A-4 Table II states that a vessel 27 in length is required to be equipped with three B-1 type, U.S.C.G. approved fire extinguishers, mounted in the following locations: outside engine compartment, steering position and galley, if equipped with a stove, or passenger cockpit. The vessel is not equipped with a 2009 First Alert fire extinguisher installed in the main cabin and a lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher mounted in the galley area. The vessel is not equipped with any smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. PLUMBING: the hoses appear to have been properly ran throughout the vessel. However, the hose fittings in the amas are rusting. The vessel is equipped with two manual pumps, which worked. The fresh water tank was inaccessible for inspection. GALLEY: the vessel is equipped with a placard for trash disposal, but the placard is not mounted. The galley is equipped with the following: a) Single stainless steel sink with a hand pump for cold water. The drain hose is in fair condition. The hand pump did work. The sink is not secured. b) The Origo alcohol two-burner stove is well secured. The stove does not gimbal. The stove is in fair condition. The stove needs to be cleaned and maintenance performed.

16 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 15 of 24 SEACOCKS AND THRU-HULL FITTINGS: the vessel is not equipped with any seacocks. The two plastic thru-hulls for cockpit drains need rebedded. The other thru-hull fittings are in fair condition. HEAD: the vessel is equipped with a port-a-pottie, which is not secured. Located in the V-berth area is a molded plastic sink with a hand pump. The pump did work. NAVIGATION LIGHTS: the red/green bow light, stern light, and steaming light worked. The anchor light did not work. The deck light worked. DECK HARDWARE: the deck hardware appears to be well bonded to the hull. The railing was not installed. However, the stanchions look to be in good condition, and one appears to be factory bent. The cables are in poor condition.

17 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 16 of 24 ELECTRONICS: the vessel is equipped with the following: a) The Raymarine VHF did not work. b) The Raymarine ST6002 autopilot did work. c) A Raymarine A700 GPS worked. d) The Nexus compass is in good condition. PORTS AND HATCHES: I have noted the following: a) The Lewmar forward hatch is well secured and in satisfactory condition. b) The two plastic ports in the aft cabin are in good condition. c) The fixed windows in the main cabin and aft cabin are in satisfactory condition. d) The fiberglass companionway pop up hatch is in fair condition. The Plexiglas drop boards are in fair condition. The hard top has a few stress cracks with high moisture. e) The Plexiglas hatch and drop board for the aft cabin are in fair condition. f) The two Lewmar opening hatches on the amas are in satisfactory condition. The Plexiglas in both hatches is checking. g) The anchor hatch is in satisfactory condition.

18 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 17 of 24 GROUND TACKLE: aluminum Fortress anchor with 3/16 chain and approximately 50 of 3/8 three strand nylon line. The ground tackle is in fair condition. The ground tackle is not properly sized for said vessel. CANVAS: the sail bags are in poor condition. The enclosure for the pop up top is in good condition. MISCELLANEOUS a) The V-berth and head privacy curtain is missing. b) The starboard side settee back rest cushion has pulled away. c) The trim around the galley is damaged. d) Both storage areas under the cockpit seat are missing covers. e) The starboard settee cushion is missing. f) Anchor roller is worn.

20 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 19 of 24 SEA TRIAL REPORT On October 20, 2014, I attended the sea trial that was performed on the Corsair F-27, hull identification number xxxxxxxxxxxx, while representing the interest of Mr. xxxxxx I have noted the following: PICTURE ENGINE The outboard started up easily and was in good working order.

21 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 20 of 24 RECOMMENDATIONS SAFETY ITEMS AND STRUCTURAL ITEMS a) Battery needs to be secured to the hull in such a fashion that they cannot shift in any direction. b) Battery needs to be placed into a plastic tray or battery box as acid plate batteries cannot be mounted to wood shelves. c) Bent threaded stud on the lower turnbuckle needs to be replaced. d) Install carbon monoxide and smoke detectors throughout the vessel. Also, installed new fire extinguishers in the above given location. e) The wiring for the solar panel needs to be mounted, and the wiring needs to be properly secured to hull and hull members. f) Cover the back side of both 12 volt electrical panel. g) The entire shore power system needs to be replaced. Install a marine grade 120 volt electrical panel, GFI receptacles, and a main breaker located in a dry easy accessible area by the shore power cord. The backside of the 120 volt electrical panel needs to be covered. h) Install a new VHF radio. i) Replace teak Veneer over chain plate knees and inspect covered areas for damage. j) Properly secure battery selector switch. k) Galley stove needs to gimbal. l) Repair left bottom end of rudder housing. m) Properly cover or terminate 2 nd set of battery terminal ends. n) Properly terminate all loose wire ends and properly secure wires to hull every 18.

GENERAL REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT a) Stress cracks and chipped gel coat can be ground out and gel coat applied to match surrounding areas. b) The galley sink needs secured. c) Resecure starboard front trampoline bracket. d) Replace the anchor roller. e) Repair damaged area around port side front ama bracket for close position.

23 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 22 of 24 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE a) Pull all deck hardware, ports, hatches and chain plates and rebed with polysulfide compound. b) Replace running rigging. c) Replace anchor roller. d) Grease winches. e) Remove old bottom paint and apply new, so bottom is smooth and even. f) Rebed mooring eye. g) Rebed or replace cockpit drain thru hulls. 1) Apply an epoxy bottom. SURVEYOR S SUGGESTIONS 2) Install electric bilge pumps in amas and main hull.

24 PURCHASE SURVEY #xxxxx PAGE 23 of 24 COMMENTS For the age of the vessel, this vessel surveyed out with the normal issues would find for the make and model of said vessel. The overall condition was found to be good. As part of a preventive maintenance program, I would suggest rebedding all the deck hardware. The owner stated that the centerboard sticking when lowered and raised. I would recommend lowering centerboard out of water for inspection of centerboard and lines used to raise and lower centerboard. My inspection does not include the trailer, as trailers need to be state inspected. However, the wheel wells appear close to tires. I would recommend inspection to see if they rub going down the highway. CONCLUSION The vessel is suitable for the manufacturer s intended use. With consideration given to the condition of the vessel, optional equipment, new engine, market condition, and the use of the BUC Book, it is hereby my professional opinion that an appraised value for said vessel can be placed at $21,900.00, with a replacement value of $98, This appraised value does not include the trailer.
