VHF CONTACT Around the ACI marina Dubrovnik Sunsail operates on VHF channel 08. VHF range in Dubrovnik is unreliable due to the topography We do have flotillas in the area so you could try them on channel 69 and 72, if trying to get hold of Sunsail via VHF (BUT THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED) 5 BOAT PAPERS Please make sure that the boat papers are on-board the yacht at all times. They are available at the Sunsail reception before your departure. In marinas they will be collected from you on arrival, and you can collect them before you depart from the marina. If the coastal police or harbour masters board for inspection they are going to want to see the boat papers. If you have a crew change at anytime during your charter please inform the Sunsail office. We need to do an update on the crew list for legal purposes. IF THE BOAT PAPERS ARE NOT ON-BOARD DURING AN INSPECTION, PENALTIES CAN RESULT. (FINES) 6 3
ECESS DEPOSIT A refundable excess deposit of 3600 Kuna needs to be held on your credit card, if you have taken a non refundable CDW or the 3000 refundable. This covers the excess for any damage incurred to the yacht, or damage to, or loss of, ancillary equipment. This will be held on the system during your charter with Sunsail. If no damage is incurred it will automatically be cleared from your card. If damage occurs to a value lower than your refundable excess, you will be refunded your deposit, less the cost of repair. If the damage incurred exceeds your refundable excess, your deposit will not be refunded and you will not be required to pay any additional cost. 7 EMBARKATION TIME OFFICIAL BOARDING TIME IS 18:00. We will do everything possible to ensure you board your yacht as early as possible. Please could you assist us by not trying to board your yacht until we have completed all the pre-charter checks and preparation. Yachts should be ready from 16:30, however due to technical or cleaning issues it might be delayed a little longer. Please bear with us while we try to get everything ship shape for you and your crew. 8 4
EMBARKING After you have boarded the yacht we suggest that you start to go through the inventory list and the boat briefing forms in the CICO book that is handed to you prior to boarding. This will help in understanding what is going to be shown and also give you time to have some questions ready. We do apologise if you are short of an item on our inventory list, please could you contact your technician or customer service to update or replace the required item, if you need it. When all embarking procedures are complete please sign the necessary documents in the 9 CICO book and submit it to your technician or YACHT TECHNICAL BRIEFING One of our technicians will board your yacht and complete a full boat briefing with you, according to the briefing list in the CICO book. Gaining a good understanding of the boat s systems will help you ensure a more enjoyable sailing vacation with us. Please ask any questions you may have on the technical aspects of the yacht during this briefing. When athe briefing is complete and you are happy with the operation of systems, please sign the briefing form and keep the first copy for your 10 reference. 5

When you arrive back at the marina at the end of your charter, please call on Ch. 08 or on your mobile phone, so that we can assist you on arrival. 11 ADRIATIC WEATHER During the summer months the winds blow relatively lightly. However note: There are great variations according to the area, and the time of day. During the summer season there are 3 dominant winds that can be felt MAESTRAL (NW) 2. ŠIROKO / JUGO (SE-S) BURA (NE) MAESTRAL Blows mainly from the NW. Good wind, it s the sailors friend. More frequent beginning of June to September. Usually begins at 10:00 reaching 3-5 Beaufort. Dies away at Sunset Brings clear skies, and pleasant days
ŠIROKO / JUGO Blows mainly from S-SE. Opposite to the Maestral, not only for the direction but also brings sultry weather, clouds, storms and uncomfortable seas. At times (mainly winter) it can reach gale force. Rarely blows during summer (June to September). 23 BURA Blows mainly from N-NE. Speciality of the Eastern Adriatic sea. Can be very dangerous. Blows sudden gusts. Rarely lasts longer than a day in summer. Brings fine weather as the barometer rises
THUNDERSTORMS Adriatic has amongst the highest occurrence of thunderstorms in Europe. Arrives from the west at great speeds, mainly from the open sea. More common near the end of summer. However be cautious at all times. Fortunately they do not last long, rarely more than half an hour. Squalls tend to occur after a period of increasing humidity, warm nights and gradual blurring of the horizon. They usually happen in the later afternoon or evening. Sometimes they are followed by a short contra-wind from the direction of the bura and after that, the weather calms down. 25 WEATHER FORECAST ON VHF The Best Meteo report (In English) can be found on the following wave lengths on your VHF, intial call is on 16 Radio Dubronvik...
