Carbon is not only good to save weight, this is the best way to make the yacht strong as a rock. That is why we decided to offer a carbon structure to Class 6 owners. Carbon mast pilar, Carbon longitudinal beam (34 layers on center on Spine), Carbon longitudinal roof and bimini reinforcement, 4 carbon reinforced bulkheads. Kevlar shield against impact On a large part of wet area, we also suggest to position Kevlar to act as a shield and protect the hull from impact. High freebord and wave piercing to feel secure Performance = Security 2.10m freebord offers safety feeling. In heavy seas you will have few waves passing on deck. Central hull is designed like a blade to offer as little resistance as possible to wave impact Central hull is also offering excellent extra buyancy to lift nose up. The best way to get out of any bad weather is speed. Class 6 is able to achieve 300 miles with constant wind to get out of a depression. Safe tender landing The aft platform is over 1.5m, no stress when arriving on a boat with lots of waves and food to embark. You land on the side just like a private pier. 7

We pay attention to details such as foam cut and void spaces to reduce uncessary resin transfer. As standard, structure is carbon reinforced, that also explains reduced weight. Douglas Schickler and David Tagliapetra have been appointed as naval architects for their extended skills in racing catamarans design. Hull design and perfect weight balance was done using the best computer software and FEA technology was used to place reinforcement where needed. Class 6 number 1 was weighted 10.5 t. with engines, electricity, tanks, openings and full composite job but without interior equipment and rigging. You must therefore add 3t that gives 13.5 t. light displacement. This is a clear success for a 64 ft. long catamaran with cruising facilities. It will depend on each owner to position the cursor regarding races. They will be responsible to minimise weight due to unecessary equipment and avoid Flybridge option. Regarding sail area pure racer, will decide with O Yachts and naval architects on the best proportion for mast (as standard 23m but racer will ask for longer!). Racer will ask for very long bowpole extension to tack Code 0 and downwind sails. Class 6 number 1 was GPS recorded at 12.5 kts with only one engine. Class 6 during sea trials reported a perfect sea line balance and very few drag waves. Naval Architects were extreamly pleased with the optimisations made on a computer to achieve a slim hull as perfect as can be. More than speed we want you to sail fast and easy. Navals architects have optimized hull and weight to have Class 6 going fast by nature. Then when you reach 20kts speed, you might decide this is enough for you and will start to reduce sail area and open the main sail. Class 6 is very light and do not need much sail area to move fast. Easy sail reduction Once again, thanks to the Spine Concept to offer small Main sail and strong forward sails. We have 3 solutions for front sails. In the front, you have a Code0, CodeD, Genaker or Asymetric. The sail is stored in locker and you have a free stay to manage them. On the back you have the genoa on a structural cable, then behind the self tacking jib also structural. Front sails are super easy to manage on furlers and even better with electric drums or hydraulic drums. Hydraulic is lighter and much faster when rolling Code0, CodeD, Genaker The main sail will be the last to be managed and reefing is very easy as we have only 100sqm to roll down. Compare it with competition and you will be suprised to realize that charter oriented catamarans usually have a big main sail. They are so heavy they need lots of sail area to move. Speed Polars With Douglas Schickler, we made polars but we do not want to communicate using them. Polars are easy to «adapt» to match your criteria. We prefer as mentioned to focus on easy sailing as Class 6 will anyway move faster than 99,5% of the catamarans around you. Bowpole option 25 to 35% Faster than wind In light wind conditions about 5 to 12kts, you will move upwind 25 to 35% faster than wind. Class 6 is able to «create» wind as it moves, therefore you will be lucky to sail when most of the sailboats are motoring around you. The Code0 or CodeD are a perfect sails to achieve fantastics results. For those who like to race, they can ask for Carbon bowpole to be added. You will have a minimum of 1.5m bowpole to tack front sails such as Code0, CodeD, Genaker or Asymetric. Management of bowpole is more complex and we do not recommend it for those who like easy sailing. 9

We save on weight and we are much more efficient. With such system you can manage Class 6 alone without help (even for jib). When you want to reduce sail area, you press a button to roll main sail around the boom. Front sails furling The 3 front sails will also take advantage of hydraulic. The furling with hydraulic is much faster than electric. A Code0 or Genaker will roll within less than 15 seconds at a the press of a button. Safety I Load pressure management Plus, as we have feedback from the fluides, we know how much power is engaged. You have a load sensor to stop at an excessive load. For instance, when furling the front sails, the system will stop before breaking parts if something get blocked. With hydraulic power for a Code0 or Genaker, you will roll a huge sail area within 10 seconds at a push of a button We can also have the system to release the main sheet if we pass a certain limit of pressure in carbon rams. 10

Class 6 is a piece of art for the core composite; you may now feel free to create your own interior for pleasure and glamour. There is no chance to find Class 6 with the same interior. Standard and options O Yachts Class 6 is designed to be simple to maintain, therefore as standard we paint the interior with textured quality paint. You have an orange skin texture very easy to wash, repaint or repare. The floor is covered with PVC material such as Bolon and furniture is covered with laminate (so many to chose from). Then as option you may chose: non structured paint, laminates for the wall, fabric for the ceiling, other material for floors (ie pvc teak ), fabric or laminate or wood for furniture, so many details to enhance the finish such as aluminium rails and fittings, hand made wood parts Even bare hull option We are one of the very rare shipyards who accepts to deliver a bare hull. That means O Yachts is focusing on the composite job and the owner finishs the boat. We can also install engines and minimum equipment for you to motor away your vessel.
