13 KSC MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m., Emon Beach Big Pavilion 20+ members present Main topic of discussion was the situation with the compressor repair after compressor issues (exacerbated by issues related to parts, wiring and general wear and tear) during the summertime limited the number of dive tanks available. VP Jaime Sandige presented data about the maintenance visit from a technician in Honolulu (ballpark for the total visit was $10,000) potential cost of repair versus purchase of new machine and options for arranging shipment of new compressor if necessary. More substantial data will be available after research is complete. Club officers are also investigating the viability of a new compressor versus routine maintenance visits. The club thanks the technicians, fillers and volunteers who assisted in working to address the issue on-island before the technician visited to professionally service the machines. Moving forward, the plan is to step up filling on the weekends now that our working compressors are running at a more optimal level. Daytime fillers have also stepped up. 15 KSC MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES ROUGH DRAFT Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:10 p.m. Club recognizes new members and certifications. PRESIDENT S REPORT Hydro Inspections for tanks. Tanks that are turned backward in the racks in the tank house are not suitable for use until the hydro inspection is complete. We are waiting for the inspection process to be worked out between contact and government reps. Hydros can still be performed by KFD, but the mechanism for payment is being developed. For now, refrain from using expired tanks. CLUB BUDGET AND COMPRESSOR MAINTENANCE The club annually takes in the funds it needs to run for one year (Approx. $40-45K) and basically breaks even. The summer compressor maintenance visit from Honolulu for compressors was approx. $10,000. Going forward, the club would like to have this maintenance visit every 18 months. In order to pay for the compressor maintenance, club members will have the compressor fee added back to the annual renewal fee. (No money is being added. The fees are already payable in the constitution, but have been waived since at least 2014). The nitrox fee will not be reinstated. The new membership cost will be for the 2019 membership year. It will be charged beginning in January. TREASURER S REPORT Gen fund: Dive Locker Tank House 18, SECRETARY REPORT Club approves minutes.
