4 PLC replacement and software re-configuration - New generation of PLCs will be installed - Compulsory for all gas systems - They will be paid with gas M&O budget (one PLC for each gas system) - The change of PLCs will be a big (and critical) intervention for all gas systems - Electrical cabling to be re-done (electrical FTE and FSU allocated) - Mechanical modifications - Considerable software modification necessary: in collaboration with BE-ICS - 1 full FTE in gas team dedicated to software re-configuration and testing (16 weeks for ATLAS) - New software upgrades necessary for some gas systems - Example: upgrade of RPC gas system - They will be done during or after the change of PLC Beatrice Mandelli 4 5 Oct 2018

7 RPC upgrade New volume Distribution: from 5 to 9 racks - Final racks allocation under discussion with TC - Piping under ATLAS responsibility - Gas channels will have to be moved Dummy chambers* - Pressure regulation reference should be moved to chamber pressure - Dummy chamber volume installation on chamber group level. E.Pastori Pressure regulation controlled in USA* - Add regulation valve in USA distribution racks - We ll also keep valve in UX - It will help in mitigating pressure fluctuation (one of suspected cause of leaks) Test will be done in Jan 2019 to validate UX to USA - If ok: new pipes from USA to distribution racks will have to be installed by ATLAS X5 racks Beatrice Mandelli 7 5 Oct 2018

8 RPC upgrade - Distribution racks from 5 to 9 - Moving channels in different racks - Add new channels and flowmeters - Additional interventions in gas system for leak mitigation to be confirmed after Jan 2019 test - Addition of 3 rd purifier module - Piping work on ATLAS responsibility (in UX and UX-USC) Work package agreement to be prepared by Gas Team FTE (weeks) * FSU (kchf) * Material (kchf) * Activity FSU FTE System stop (weeks) (weeks) (weeks) T 1 T 2 T 3 T 4 T 1 T 2 T 3 T 4 Distribution module: to 9 racks modification for BI project. Pressure regulation reference should be moved to chamber pressure. Fake chamber volume installation on chamber group level. O2 analysis on distribution return lines. New analysis module in USA for RPC. (Soft./Electr.) - Distribution High/low flow migration => RPC system. Purifier module: Preparation to use in run 3.
