If strange sounds can be heard, or if anything does not operate well, contact your Resqtec distributor ANNUAL MAINTENANCE Many years of safe use is guaranteed if the product is properly cared for and maintained. To this end the product must be inspected at least once a year. This must be carried out by a service technician trained by Resqtec who possesses the necessary tools and testing equipment. It is recommended to mark the date of next and/or last yearly inspection. It is also possible for you, the user, to carry out maintenance yourself. In the context of your own safety and the product liability it is necessary that appropriate training should be undertaken first. Your supplier can advise you on this and/or attend to the annual maintenance on a contract basis, if desired. STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED AND/OR BROKEN EQUIPMENT MUST NEVER BE USED DURING RESCUE OPERATIONS. THIS MAY RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL SITUATIONS. DO NOT ATTEMPT! If structural damage and/or broken equipment or parts are discovered, immediately contact your distributor/supplier or the manufacturer. DO NOT REPAIR ANY BROKEN EQUIPMENT AND/OR PARTS. ALWAYS CONTACT YOUR DISTRIBUTOR/SUPPLIER OR THE MANUFACTURER. Repairing equipment and/or parts causes your warranty to expire. Always contact your distributor/supplier or the manufacturer when broken parts and/or equipment are discovered. Broken equipment and/or parts can then be sent to certified service centers RECOMMENDED STORAGE The following storage recommendations count for the Pod heads, the ProFix Max and all attachments and/or extensions: Store fully disassembled Completely depressurize and retract the ProFix Max Store all products, attachments and accessories out of direct sunlight Store the equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area: Storage temperature 10 C 30 C / 50 F 86 F Storage air humidity 0 60% 26 RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05)

7. WARNINGS & LIMITATIONS IGNORING THESE WARNINGS AND RESTRICTIONS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY HARMFUL SITUATIONS! DO NOT ATTEMPT! 7.1. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS 7.2. SETTING UP WHEN CLICKING EQUIPMENT TOGETHER MAKE SURE TO HEAR AND FEEL A SIGNIFICANT CLICK. SEE THAT THE PARTS ARE WELL CONNECTED AND THAT THERE IS NO GAP BETWEEN THE CONNECTED SURFACES. Choose any ProFix Max to use as a Pod leg. Use chains to secure the Pod s legs (in combination with a PowerPlate). Use ratchet straps between the PowerPlates to secure the Pod s legs. Use a V-series ram as a Pod leg. RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05) 27

Pressurize the ProFix Max, the Pod s legs, with air. Use a ProFix Max junction in one of the Pod s legs EXTENSIONS USING EXTENSIONS IN COMBINATION WITH A MONO-, BI- OR TRIPOD IS NOT ALLOWED. Build a Mono-, Bi- or Tripod in combination with extensions. 28 RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05)

7.4. PRODUCTS ON TOP OF THE TRIPOD HEAD DO NOT MOUNT HYDRAULIC RAMS ON TOP OF THE TRIPOD HEAD. Connect a ProFix Max on top of a Tripod head. THE ANGLE OF THE PROFIX MAX ON TOP, RELATIVE TO THE GROUND, MUST NOT BE BIGGER THAN THE ANGLE OF THE POD S LEGS RELATIVE TO THE TRIPOD HEAD. Connect an NT HYBRID 2 on top of the Tripod head. CONNECTING AN NT HYBRID 2 IS ONLY ALLOWED WHEN THE INSERTION HEIGHT BETWEEN THE TRIPOD HEAD AND THE OBJECT IS AT LEAST 16 CM OR 6.3 INCHES, BECAUSE THE NT-BAG S CAPACITY EXCEEDS THE MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF THE TRIPOD HEAD: Lifting capacity (x 1000 kg) Insertion height (mm) Connect two NT HYBRID 2 on top of the Tripod head. RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05) 29

Connect an NT HYBRID 4/NT HYBRID 8 on top of the Tripod head. Connect a V-series ram on top of the Tripod head. 30 RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05)

7.5. ANGLED LOADS When a ProFix Max is placed under an angle, the load increases. For small angles the load increase is negligible, however that changes when the angle increases. There are two possible situations: SITIUATION 1: VERTICAL LOAD In this case there is a load-increase in the ProFix Max due to an angle of the ProFix Max compared to the applied load (FV). There is also a horizontal load resulting on the ground, in combination with a vertical load which is the same as the applied load. This horizontal load might cause the ProFix Max to slip or break out. As the horizontal load can be quite substantial a ProFix Max placed under an angle must always be secured with straps, chains and/or earth nails. Graph 8.1 and table 8.1 show the load increase caused by angled placing of the ProFix Max. Example: a ProFix Max placed at an angle of 45 has to carry a vertical load of 3 Tons. As shown in the table and graph the resulting load in the ProFix Max is increased by a factor 1.4: 3 x 1.4 = 4.2 Tons. The horizontal load on the ground is equal to the vertical load: 3 x 1.0 = 3 Tons. Axial load resulting from FV VERTICALLY ANGLED LOADS Load on ground (horizontal) resulting from FH ANGLE A (DEG.) LOAD ON PROFIX MAX (IN LENGTH DIRECTION) ( X FV) LOAD ON GROUND (HORIZONTAL) ( X FV) LOAD ON GROUND (VERTICAL) = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV = FV RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05) 31

VERTICAL LOAD ON GROUND RESULTING FROM ANGLED POSITION 32 RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05)

SITUATION 2: HORIZONTAL LOAD When a ProFix Max is used in a raker system there is a horizontal load (FH) acting on the ProFix Max which also results in an increased axial load. There is also a horizontal load resulting on the ground, in combination with a vertical load which is the same as the applied load. The horizontal resulting load might cause the ProFix Max to slip or break out. As the horizontal load can be quite substantial a ProFix Max placed under an angle must always be secured with straps, chains and/or earth nails. Graph 8.2 and table 8.2 show the load increase caused by angled placing of the ProFix Max. Example: a ProFix Max placed at an angle of 30 has to carry a horizontal load of 1.5 Ton. As shown in the table and graph the resulting load in the ProFix Max is increased by a factor 2: 1.5 x 2 = 3 Tons. The vertical load on the ground is equal to the horizontal load multiplied by 1.73: therefore the vertical load on the ground is: 1.5 x 1.73 = 2.6 Tons. The horizontal load on the ground is equal to the horizontally applied load. HORIZONTALLY ANGLED LOADS ANGLE A (DEG.) 35 7.6. TRIPOD SIDE LOAD When hoisting a person or an object with the Tripod, and when the hoisting is being done from the side of the Tripod, the Tripod is being submitted to a side load. In case of side loads, there can be two options: the indirect side load and the direct side load. SITUATION 1: INDIRECT SIDE LOAD When applying an indirect side load, the force (F) will be directed along the ProFix Max, towards the ground, allowing the Tripod to remain stable and secured. F Pulley Winch Pulley SITUATION 2: DIRECT SIDE LOAD In case of a direct side load, the Tripod will be pulled to the side; the ProFix Max on the opposite side of the applied side force (F) will extend and cause the Tripod to tilt. DO NOT APPLY A DIRECT SIDE LOAD ON THE TRIPOD. THIS MAY CAUSE HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS. F Pulley F Winch RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05) 35

8. TROUBLESHOOTING If you encounter any problems whilst using the Modular Pod System, please advise the following table: Symptom Pod heads do not stay in place when clicked onto the ProFix Max. Solution - Check if the internal spring (inside the Pod s hinge) is still in place. ProFix Max cylinder cannot be retracted by hand. - Make sure the green button on the bottom ring is pressed in completely. The green button cannot be manually pressed in completely and the ProFix Max remains locked. When the Tripod is set up, one or multiple Pod hinges seems to kink compared to the ProFix Max. - Check if there is still load on the strut, if so, the green button cannot be pressed to release the locking system. - Make sure the Tripod is set up completely perpendicular to the ground and that all ProFix Max are fully aligned with the Tripod hinges. IF YOU CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED, OR IF THE PROVIDED SOLUTION DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, STOP USING THE PRODUCT IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT A CERTIFIED DISTRIBUTOR/SUPPLIER OR ONE OF THE RESQTEC OFFICES. 36 RESQTEC Manual MODULAR POD SYSTEM (DM057K05)
