1 Hemodialysis Division Single-pass and Double-pass Osmosis With its ten years track record and experience in the development and manufacturing of equipment for dialysis liquid and water treatment, fg Ingeniería has designed an equipment line of single-pass and double-pass reverse osmosis with digital control of all its operating parameters, such as flow rates, pressure and conductivity. Fully digital single-pass or doublepass reverse osmosis units, whose features are identical to those of compact plants, equipped with pressure, flow rate and conductivity sensors together with an online chlorine sensor. The equipment units are expandable within their same structures from 250 l/hr to 1250 l/hr and from 1250 l/hr to 2750 l/hr. I N N O V A T I O N & Q U A L I T Y

3 (continued) The equipment units will be able to be dimensioned within the same structure from 1 membrane to 6 membranes or from 6 membranes to 12 membranes for single-pass reverse osmosis with the sole addition of the set comprising casings/membranes/interconnections, since the rest of the components have already been dimensioned for such an expansion. This will be equivalent to minimum 240 l/hr-1500 l/hr flow rates and to 1500 l/hr-3000 l/hr flow rates. In the double-pass reverse osmosis case, the following adjustments will be able to be made: 3-1, 5-2 and 6-3, single-pass and double-pass membranes respectively, equaling double-pass production flow rates from 300 l/hr to 840 l/hr. By changing the structure, the following will be able to be built General considerations Every component making up the equipment is arranged in a stainless steel structure able to be completely dismantled. Membrane stripped, passivated casings are made of AISI 304L stainless steel. The high pressure pump, made of stainless steel, is from Grundfos Pump Supplier. The interconnections in contact with the permeate are made of pharmaceutical quality stainless steel or rapid coupling Festo, of German origin. Conductivity and flow rate pressure sensors are highly efficient digital devices. All these special features, coupled with other design and construction details, turn these equipment units into the highest quality and most reliable ones available on the hemodialysis market. Regardless of the features mentioned above and the performance described below, the equipment is highly cost-competitive. Single pass / First pass The equipment will have to be assisted with pre-treated water with a flow rate suitable for its dimensioning and pressure higher than 0.5 bar. The equipment has a 1 inlet electrovalve and a polypropylene microfiber particle filter for a 2400 l/hr nominal flow rate for the retention of 20-5um suspended solids, since it has radial gradual densities. Before entrance to the main pump, feed water conductivity, feed pressure and feed flow rate are sensed. Once outside the pump, membrane inflow pressure is sensed and in the final concentrate line, we will sense the flow rate and pressure of that flux. In the permeate line, conductivity will be sensed. Every sensed value will be shown in a digital display, those values being linked by means of software that will allow us to control the parameters, as previously mentioned in the introductory paragraph. Adjustment of those parameters is made through two ergonomically arranged manual valves. Second pass The feed flow rate of this pass will be the permeate of the first one; therefore, equipment dimensioning regarding quantity and type of membranes placed in each pass is very important. This permeate is captured by a second multicellular pump the same model as that in the first pass in order to unify spare parts and minimize maintenance. Every sensed parameter, pressures, flow rates and conductivity coincide with those involved in the first pass, regarding both their features and arrangement. Regulation of this pass is made in the same way as in the first pass: with a valve placed at the main pump outlet and another one, at the concentrate outlet. For the start-up and calibration of the equipment operating as double-pass reverse osmosis, it is recommended that only the first pass be started up, by interconnecting devices and activating valves already arranged in the equipment. The flow rate and pressure values to be calibrated will be detailed in the equipment instruction manual. Once this pass has been completed, the same operational sequence is repeated for the second pass. Then, valves are arranged and devices are removed so that the equipment is able to operate as double-pass; the equipment is then activated so that it can function on a permanent basis. As in the first pass, every parameter will be sensed and viewed in the digital display, which is controlled by the same comprehensive software. Page 3 of 5

This condition, resulting from the technical features that will be described below, turns it into an unparalleled equipment of great versatility. The possibility of being unable to produce osmosis water is nearly ruled out by this design. In order to carry out the different operational conditions of the equipment, it is equipped with rapid coupling sanitary sections which do not make up the permanent circuit and are fixed in the equipment rack. These are clearly encoded for easy interconnection. Together with the 3-way valve arrangement, this allows us to redirect flux to meet any of the three described operational conditions. Hydraulic conditions of the three possible modes of operation are controlled by two switches on the control panel. The equipment has an additional board for the chemical cleaning /sanitation operations. The switches on this board disable a software section so that, during this operational condition, the equipment does not stop due to flow rate and pressure alarms, since flow rate and pressure normal values could be altered, probably exceeding the alarm preset ones. s, alarms and records The equipment is completely operated through the switches arranged in the central panel. These allow us to activate the equipment automatically or manually regardless of external demand, perform chemical cleaning and sanitation operations, reset/programme alarms and make emergency stops through the punch. The equipment unit records and controls digitally feed pressure, membrane inlet and outlet pressure, inlet, rejection and product flow rates, inlet and outlet conductivity and percentage rejection of membranes of the first pass, second one or both, depending on the selected operational condition. All these parameters can be viewed in the digital display and are integrated through software, which allows equipment protection due to minimal, maximal and differential values of those parameters. The display will also show preventive maintenance actions, such as the replacement of components and supplies, as well as sanitation / chemical cleaning operations and technical support per hour accumulation. The possibility of controlling every described parameter and action will enable us to maintain a top quality product over time and to reduce operational and maintenance costs. Page 4 of 5
