Store Procedures Pool Area Opening Procedures Enter through downstairs pool door, disarm alarm (if first in). Turn on lights next to stairwell door (2 switches) (Do not use switch by compressor room door). Turn on lights in both Men's and Women's room. Leave Women's room door open. Closing it results in a pungent smell getting trapped. Close door to Men's room. If either restroom door is locked, the key is "hidden" in the lower right corner just outside of the women's restroom. Please ensure to replace the key to this position. Uncover pool (best with two people "guiding" the cover to keep it centered). Pool Area Closing Procedures Cover pool (best with two people walking cover over pool). Turn off lights in both Men's and Women's room. Prop both doors open. Turn off lights in Compressor room (single switch). Straighten chairs/tables in both classrooms, wipe down whiteboards, clean up as needed. Squeegee/mop floor. Turn off lights in both classrooms (single switch). Turn off light in Pool Pump room (single switch behind door). Confirm stairwell door to upstairs is locked. If not, go upstairs and confirm front door is still locked. Lock stairwell door. Turn off lights next to stairwell door (2 switches). (Do not use switch by compressor room door) Arm the alarm, exit through downstairs pool door (if last out). Confirm Compressor Room and Pool Area doors are securely latched. Alarm Operating Procedures - Opening Enter only through the downstairs Pool Door. If you enter through any other door, you will trip the alarm. See info on disarming later in this section. Upon entry, you should hear a continuous buzzing from the alarm. If you only hear a couple chirps, the system is not armed. DO NOT ENTER YOUR PASSCODE. The "Ready" Green light will be illuminated. If you hear a continuous buzzing, enter your personal PIN into the touch panel located just to the side of the Pool entry door. The "Arm" Red light will be flashing, as well as a red light flashing on the #4 (door open) and possibly the #5 (motion sensor) numerals. You should hear a couple chirps acknowledging acceptance of your PIN. Once your PIN is entered, confirm the "Ready" green light is illuminated. You may also see the #4 red light illuminated (not flashing) if the door is open or the #5 motion sensor red light illuminated (not flashing). If you hear no other sounds from the alarm, it should be disarmed. If the alarm continues to chirp, or you hear the alarm sound, re-enter your PIN into the keypad. 3

The telephone will ring shortly after the alarm is tripped. PLEASE ANSWER IT! Answer "Thank you for calling One World Dive and Travel, this is ". It should be someone from the alarm company confirming everything is OK and verifying your identity. When asked, provide your personal alarm PIN number. They will cross check this with your identity and call off the dogs. If you do not answer the phone, or give them an incorrect PIN number, they will simultaneously call the police and Brian/Jill/Michelle. We will attempt to call you to confirm your location, or to send the police. After speaking with the alarm company, confirm the alarm is reset, meaning the only light illuminated is the green "Ready". If you see any flashing red lights, you need to reenter your PIN to reset the system completely. Alarm Operating Procedures - Closing Once you have completed the store closing/pool closing operations, you are ready to arm the facility. Confirm the alarm is in ready to be set. The "Ready" green light should be illuminated. If the #5 red light is illuminated, you need to stop moving so as to not trip the motion sensor. If you see other red lights illuminated, it means someone else is in the store. DO NOT SET THE ALARM IF ANY RED NUMBER LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED. This will cause the alarm to trip and activate the alarm company burglary procedures. Investigate what could be triggering the upstairs motion sensors, or call 911 if you are concerned for your safety. Once there are no red lights on the alarm system, and only the green "Ready" light is illuminated, enter your PIN. You should hear a single chirp confirming arming. Exit the building, and confirm both the Pool door and Compressor room door are securely latched. If either opens, re-enter the Pool area and disarm the alarm. Go outside and use your key try to reset the locking mechanism in the affected door to confirm it is securely latched. Re-enter the Pool area and continue arming the system. Once the building is armed, slowly put your belongings away in your vehicle. If the alarm is not set properly, it will activate within 60 seconds. If you do not hear the alarm activated, the building is secure. If you hear the alarm, enter the building through the Pool door and re-enter your PIN into the keypad. Once reset, you will need to continue arming the system. 4

Selling Classes Selling Advanced Raise your right hand and repeat after me: I do solemnly swear that I will encourage my students to complete my advanced open water course immediately following my 4th open water dive. Put down your hand and let me explain why I asked you to do that After completing the Open Water Divers course your students have made 4 dives and have excellent skills to safely SCUBA dive. What they may not yet have is confidence in their skills Advanced takes them from a competent diver to a confident diver The Advanced Open Water course is all about confidence because they will make 5 additional supervised dives with you doing the type of things they will do on every dive, things like good buoyancy. These 5 additional dives are fun dives - no mask clearing, air sharing, etc. Just fun dives under our guidance We will go a little deeper, play with a compass and really fine tune their buoyancy By completing their first 9 SCUBA dives with you they will be a more confident and comfortable diver ready to really enjoy our sport The 5 dives we complete include: Deep, Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery and Altitude. Night is available during our Homestead Crater dives. Selling Rescue Rescue is by far the most physically and emotionally challenging, and rewarding class in the PADI system of education. Learn accident prevention and self rescue techniques. Learn how to identify and resolve potential problems both on the surface and underwater. Better familiarizes yourself with your equipment, making you a safer diver. Build confidence in your diving skills and your ability to help your fellow divers. Requirement to continue on with Master Scuba Diver or Divemaster. 5

Compressor Operation General Operation Look at main power switch to left of compressor on wall, confirm in "On" position. If not, stop. Nitrox filling may be underway. Check with Brian before continuing. Check oil level in the center of the compressor (clear cylinder with orange screw cap). Should be about 1/4" above bottom line. Confirm compressor is on (lights should be illuminated, words across screen). If not, make sure Emergency Red Button is pulled out. Once cycled, there will be a flashing green light next to the "On" button. Press the "On" button once and compressor will start. Confirm Auto Condensation Drain valve is closed (yellow handle to the right of the compressor, should be parallel to the ground). Compressor will automatically drain and shut off. If need to shut off compressor for any reason, press the red Emergency Stop button (it will make a loud sound as it activates the Auto Condensation Drain). Scuba Tank Protocol Scuba tanks, as well as all high pressure cylinders, are governed by the Department of Transportation (DOT). Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulates the safety of employees handling scuba cylinders. All persons who handle, transports or are likely to be affected by the hazards of compressed gas cylinders and their contents shall receive appropriate safety training. DOT requires high pressure cylinders to bear a legible serial number. All of these marks must be present and legible to be filled. DOT requires a hydrostatic (HYDRO) test every 5 years and a Visual Inspection (VIP) annually. Both of these must be present or we cannot fill the tank. This certification is for any high pressure cylinder, including carbon fiber tanks. The only exception to this is for the bank bottles. These have a 10 year HYDRO test requirement. All high pressure cylinders should be treated as if they are full. When handling, avoid carrying the cylinder by the valve with the valve aperture (opening) facing the handler's open palm. High pressure air systems can be dangerous. Never place hands or other body parts against pressurized escaping air. Always inspect cylinders before filling. Look for damage or corrosion on the exterior, dents or bulges, or any aluminum cylinder with a round bottom. Do not fill if you see any damage or a round bottom on an aluminum cylinder only. Fill at psig per minute (should take 5-10 minutes to fill a tank). DO NOT over pressurize cylinders. Stay away from the fill station/tank while it is being filled. 6

Both the cylinder owner and the Fill Station Operator share responsibility for cylinder safety. By being alert and aware, you may discover during the pre-fill examination an unsafe cylinder that requires a formal inspection. Tank Filling Procedures Downstairs Compressor ** When closing tank valves, please only close "hand tight", ie don't crank it down tight. This action scars the Seat Plug which results in the tank valve leaking. Look at Compressor Filling Station Panel (says Breathing Air Systems on blue label on front) and confirm the left gauge labeled "Supply Pressure" is greater than 3500psi. If not, refer to Compressor Operation section. Confirm far left gauge labeled "Bottle Pressure" is set to 3000psi. This can be changed by turning the large center dial labeled "Regulator". Attach fill whip to tank (yoke only). Confirm bleed valve is closed on whip. Completely open the K valve on the tank (all the way open, to the left). Open the valve on the whip minimally, only enough to just hear air entering the tank. Per the Professional Scuba Inspectors Guide for Fill Operations, the recommended standard fill rate for high pressure air cylinders is psig/min. It should take approximately 5-10 minutes to fill a tank. Once you no longer hear air "filling", open the whip valve slowly to confirm tank is completely filled. Turn off tank valve and whip valve (to the right), and open bleed valve. Unscrew whip and hang on wall/place in bin. Bank and Cascade Operation The Yellow bottles between the compressor and fill station are the banks. Each bottle is rated to 4500psi. They need to be HYDRO tested every 10 years. See the Section on Tank Protocol for more information. In normal operation, every bank is completely open (unscrewed to the left). We basically only use the top 1500 of the banks. If we have any problems with the compressor (ie it is broken), then we would need to Cascade the banks. To Cascade the Banks In the event the compressor is down, we need to conserve as much air as possible. The way to do this is to cascade the banks. Close every bank bottle (turn the valve to the right). Open the first two bottles from left to right (turn the valves to the left). Once these banks are below 3000psi, they will not be able to fill a tank beyond their pressure, ie if the bank bottle has 2500psi, it will only fill a connected tank to 2500psi. Close the two banks that are open (turn valves to right). 7

Open the next set of two bottles from left to right (turn valves to left). Fill remaining tank pressure to 3000psi. Every time you change the tank, you need to repeat this process (open the first two with the rest closed, fill completely, then turn off those two and open next two bottles, etc. Complete this process until the last two bottles have less than 3000psi remaining (meaning the first two bottles only have about 1000psi, second two have about 1500psi, third set have about 1800psi, fourth set have about 2200psi). 8

Instructor Procedures General Notes The orange caps on the tanks are designed to protect our pool and deck coating. Please replace on tank after putting on BCD but before connecting regulator. These are required, not optional. Cleaning up after class Have students empty water from their BCDs. Orally inflate, turn BCD upside down with LPI in lowest position and push deflate button. Repeat 2-3 times. Have students put BCDs/regulators on the appropriate number hangar. BCD and regulator each have their own number correlated to a hangar number. Fill tanks, replace dust caps, place with other full tanks. Cover pool (best with two people walking cover over pool). Squeegee/mop floor. Clean up bathrooms, close locker doors. Straighten chairs/tables in both classrooms, wipe down whiteboards, clean up as needed. Turn off lights in classroom (single switch). Staff Lockers We have 4 large blue staff lockers located between the BCD/regulator and MFS rental areas These are designed to be used as a place for instructors to store their equipment as they are actively teaching a multi-day class, or to allow their equipment to dry overnight and be picked up the next day Long term storage of personal equipment is not permitted Class Procedures Open Water Orientation Please arrive to the store no later than 7:30am to open the facility. See Store Opening and Pool Area Opening Procedures for details. Turn on the lights in the second classroom. Turn on the computer and overhead projector. Log into computer, open Orientation Powerpoint presentation located on the Desktop. Click the Slideshow icon, then click the center black box of the first slide to activate the looping video. Adjust volume on speakers as needed. Lay out Welcome Kit and Dive Training Magazine, if available, for all students in class. 10 Check in each student as they arrive, confirming they have paid in full and checking the Student File Folder, specifically the Medical Statement. Collect payment. Give file folder back to student If time permits, take their picture in front of the underwater mural near the front of the store. Direct students to the classroom to wait for all to arrive. Once all have checked in, lock the front door and turn sign to Closed. Take the Class Roster and camera, if you haven't taken photos yet, downstairs to the classroom. In the Classroom Welcome the class to One World Dive and Travel, introduce yourself, and let everyone know you are here to do orientation. Start with the administrative stuff first: o explain the schedule for the weekend (when in class vs pool, and if there is a flip) o explain if there will be other classes in session at the same time o inform students of the location of the bathrooms o point out the location of the equipment, giving extra attention to the wetsuits letting them know Blue is for Boys, Yellow for girls and zippers go in the back o note the location of the Pool door, letting students know the front door will be locked and the instructor will have this Pool door open o inform students the temperature control is located in the other room. If they are uncomfortable, inform the instructor and they can do something about it. If they put the classrooms were hot on their evaluation, there is nothing we can do about it! o Take pictures now or during DAN presentation o Have students sign up for DAN Student Membership On to the slideshow! Who are We o we've been in the diving industry in Colorado for 18 years, starting with a small satellite shop in the DTC o Moved here in 1999 and built it from the ground up to be a dive training paradise o Heated 85 degree salt water pool - salinity is about the same as your tears, so doesn't burn your eyes and is easier on your skin o All of the staff upstairs are Instructors or Divemaster candidates, so have professionals available to help answer any diving related questions Meet the Staff o Introduce some of the faces they have seen upstairs o Special introduction to Jill and Michelle, our two travel specialists o Great people to talk to about your upcoming trip o Can help schedule your open water dives o You pay the same whether you book on your own or use our travel department 10

o They get all the same internet deals, many time industry only sales o Benefit is their knowledge/contacts in the industry and the UWP tag behind their name. We send a lot of people on trips, and the companies want us to keep using them, so they want you to come back singing their praises, giving you a little special extra attention PADI o Largest certification agency in the world, certify about 80% of all divers o Regardless of where you are going, chances are you will find a PADI facility o They created the book that you read, the videos you watched, our curriculum here in the classroom and our requirements for the pool and open water dives Paperwork o Time to go over the paperwork, confirm all is completed per the slides o Currently two versions (blue and white), depending on the version of the folder o Go over each section, completing as necessary. Remind students if at any point in time their medical condition/answers change from a NO to a YES, go see their doctor. Their safety is our #1 concern. o Once Student File Folder is complete, bring up Course Agreement. Highlight #4 (if you need to miss class, just make sure it was worth it. $35 an hour for the facility and instructor time, must crawl before walking, so can't miss a day in middle and rejoin) and #10 (you have 6 months from today to complete your OW dives. If you have not, you must take, and pay for, a refresher to remind you of all the important things you have learned, getting you another 6 months for a total of 1 year from today to complete your OW dives. If you have not completed your OW dives within 1 year from today, you get to take this class all over). Make sure they have signed and dated. o Have student put the Course Agreement into the Student File Folder and collect the paperwork and give to the instructor. It should not leave their possession/the store for the remainder of their course. This is DAN o DAN is a non-profit research based organization based out of Duke University studying everything medically related to diving, such as flying after diving and diving and diabetes. o They offer a FREE student membership. The video will explain in detail. o Click on the DAN underlined file and a pop-up window will open playing the DAN Student Membership video. This is a good time to take pictures if you haven't already, as well as for students to sign up for Student Membership. Pass around form if you haven't already done so. What about OW? o Go around the room asking where everyone is doing their OW dives. Note on your Class Roster who needs a referral kit. o Open the Welcome Kit and review each piece of paperwork: 11
