Suitability for the intended service application should be determined by the installer and/or user prior to installation of a plastic piping system. Do not use any components that appear irregular or do not fit properly. Contact the appropriate manufacturer of the component product in question to determine usability. Consult all applicable codes and regulations for compliance prior to installation. Solvent Weld Connections Use quality solvent cements and primers formulated for the intended service application, pipe size and type of joint. While the pipe and fitting materials may be compatible with the intended medium, the solvent cement may not be. Consult the manufacturer for suitability of use. Read and follow the cement and primer manufacturers applications and cure time instructions thoroughly. Be sure to use the correct size applicator. Spears anufacturing Company recommends the use of Spears BUE 75 Thread Sealant which has been tested for compatibility with Spears products. Please follow the sealant manufacturers application / installation instructions. Choice of an appropriate thread sealant other than those listed above is at the discretion of the installer. 1 to 2 turns beyond FIER TIT is generally all that is required to make a sound plastic threaded connection. Unnecessary OVER TITEI will cause DAAE TO BOT PIPE AD FITTI. Each other person or entity acquiring or employing the Products, including buyers, contractors and installers ( Buyer ) and End Users ( Buyer/End User ) agrees that this Warranty shall be effective only during the Warranty Period so long as the Products are used solely for the normal purposes for which they are intended and in conformance with industry established standards, engineering, installation, operating, and maintenance specifi cations, recommendations and instructions including explicit instructions by the Company; the Products are properly installed, operated and used, and have not been modifi ed; and all the other terms of this Warranty are complied with. 3 Application Spears Copper Tube Size (CTS) Pipe and Fittings are manufactured from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) for use with SDR 11 piping systems of CTS outside diameter in hot and cold water distribution systems. Check state and local codes for application and restrictions. Conformance Standards Spears CPVC CTS Pipe and Fittings conform to AST D 2846 Specification for Chlorinated Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (CPVC) Plastic ot and Cold Water Distribution Systems. Working Pressure Spears CPVC CTS Pipe and Fittings have a continuous working pressure rating of 100 psi at 180 F (400 psi at 73 F). Product Certification Spears CPVC CTS Pipe, Fittings and Special Reinforced (SR) Threaded transition adapters are tested and certified by the ational Sanitation Foundation (SF ) to AST D 2846 for use in ot and Cold Water Distribution Systems, and for safe use in potable water systems under SF Standard 14/61. All Spears CPVC CTS Pipe and Fittings for CPVC Plastic ot and Cold Water Distribution Systems in this manual are certified ead-free by SF International under SF Standard 61, Annex. The annex certifies compliance to California California s ealth & Safety Code Section (commonly known as AB1953) and Vermont Act 193. ead free is defined by these requirements as containing no more than a weighted average lead content of <=0.25%. Testing Once the system has been installed and allowed to cure properly, the system shall be tested in accordance with applicable code requirements. When testing with water (hydrostatic testing), the system must be slowly filled with water and the air bled from the highest and furthest points in the system before test pressure is applied. Failure to do so can cause damage to the piping system and could be harmful to the job site personnel should a failure occur. If a leak is found, the affected product must be cut and discarded.
