29 EMERGENCY PLAN ACCURPRESS PRESS BRAKE Notes: 1. This plan is a specific emergency rescue plan for the Accupress press brake. It contains information relating to the press brake and not general emergency plan details. 2. Training should be provided on this plan, recorded on the training record and reviewed annually. 3. All safety components mentioned in this procedure should be tested daily to ensure proper working order. Types of Emergencies and Procedures: Trapped in Machine 1. Never inch the press to free a trapped person, use e-stop or ram up buttons. 2. If possible hit ram up button and lift ram electrically. Extract operator, perform first aid, and call for help. 3. If electrical controls are not responding, release hydraulic valve, use hydraulic jack to lift ram, perform first aid, and call for help. Electrical Fire 1. Locate Type C fire extinguisher, extinguish fire. 2. Call Fire Department. Crush or Amputation 1. Contact first responders. 2. Apply first aid, call for help. Hydraulic Fluid Spill 1. Wear chemical resistant gloves and safety glasses. 2. Block off spill area. 3. Clean up spill using rags or absorbent granules. These names shall be posted in a conspicuous place within the immediate work area; (b) a procedure to be followed for releasing an entrapped hand, finger, or other body part; (c) training of at least one person per working shift in rescue procedures; (d) appropriate tools and equipment to achieve rescue; (e) posting a summary of the rescue procedures on appropriate machines; and (f) a means of releasing an entrapped member or person from accessory or auxiliary equipment associated with the press danger zone.
