14 Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Duty of Officers Section 27 - Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (1) If a person conducting a business or undertaking has a duty or Obligation under this Act, an officer of the person conducting The business or undertaking must exercise due diligence to ensure that the person conducting the business or undertaking complies with that duty or obligation.

16 Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Duties of Workers Duties of Workers are classified as any person who carries out work, in any capacity, for a PCBU. Section 28 Workers must: - take reasonable care for their own health and safety take reasonable care that their conduct does not adversely affect the health and safety of others comply, so far as they are reasonably able with instructions cooperate with reasonable health and safety policies or procedures that have been notified to workers.

39 Workplace Health and Safety Queensland On-the-spot fines Both PCBUs and workers can be issued with an on-the-spot fine. Examples of offences which can be issued with a fine include (but are not limited to): failure to comply with an improvement notice failure to record a notifiable incident (e.g. a work-caused serious injury or illness) allowing persons to carry out high risk work without seeing written evidence that the worker has the relevant high risk work licence failure to allow health and safety representative to exercise their powers or functions failure to use/wear PPE provided by PCBU in accordance with information, training or reasonable instruction given by PCBU (fine issued to worker) failure to test electrical work failure to ensure electrical equipment was de-energized before carrying out electrical work. The fine may be paid in full at any Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) office within 28 days or arrangements can be made to pay an on-the-spot fine of $200 or more in instalments. The alleged offender can choose to contest the infringement notice in a Magistrates Court.

QLD WH&S Regulations 2011, Schedule 19 A Confined Space A confined space means an enclosed or partially enclosed space That (a) is not designed or intended primarily to be occupied by a person; and (b) is, or is designed or intended to be, at normal atmospheric pressure while any person is in the space; and (c) is or is likely to be a risk to health and safety from (i) an atmosphere that does not have a safe oxygen level; or (ii) contaminants, including airborne gases, vapours and dusts, that may cause injury from fire or explosion; or (iii) harmful concentrations of any airborne contaminants; or (iv) engulfment;

98 VIRTI SHORES These were the first hydraulic products to be introduced in to the UK in the mid 1970 s. These are used in applications where the ground is self supporting and free from water. Each unit comprises two aluminium rails, which are expanded against the trench wall by a number of interconnected hydraulic cylinders as shown Fig Vertical shores are generally recommended for short term usage in the ground (typically 48 hrs).
