The preservation and restoration of the Casa Rull allows us to travel back in time and appreciate the importance of Andorran houses in a mountain society. Rossell Forge. La Massana Iron Interpretation Centre The industry around iron was the main economic activity in the valleys for a long time. The Rossell Forge is clear evidence of the importance of metallurgy in the Andorran valleys, which were large producers of iron from the 17th to 19th centuries, in Andorra and also in the Pyrenees. Postal Museum. Ordino The Raser Borda has a philatelic collection of Andorran stamps since An audiovisual illustrates the historical development of the postal service in Andorra, which is full of idiosyncrasies, as a communication system of from antiquity and until our own days.

8 Capercaillie Pic del Comapedrosa nomads of the mountains TREkkING Walking in the mountains is the simplest, healthiest and most amusing way to spend a day with family or friends. The Valls del Nord offer you a network of paths and routes through the woods, valleys and mountain ranges, routes that were used by shepherds in the old days. You may find the trace of an avalanche, animal tracks or plants that only grow in the high mountain. Wear good boots and you will enjoy a fine time in our mountains. 9 25 Les Granotes pool COMAPEDROSA VALLEYS COMMUNE NATURAL PARk ARINSAL The main attraction of this park in La Massana is the high mountain landscape, with various glacier groups. This is the highest part of the country. The visitors eyes are drawn to the highest peak in the Principality, the Peak of Comapedrosa (2,942 metres), which dominates the valleys and forms a truly exceptional panoramic view. The extensive network of paths and the three mountain huts make this Park an essential visit for hikers and lovers of nature in general, and is a perfect introduction to the Andorran high mountains. More experienced mountaineers can obtain a guidebook giving all the itineraries leading to the various mountain summits. Comapedrosa Park has three mountain huts. The huts at Les Fonts and Pla de l Estany are open all year round and access is free. The Comapedrosa hut is manned and offers a lunch service; it is open from the beginning of June to the end of September. For the rest of the year one part of the hut is kept open. In the summer guided visits can be arranged, with a more thorough introduction to the fl ora, fauna, geology and geomorphology of this natural area and the rest of La Massana. During the summer, we offer weekly guided routes, open to all levels and ages. The routes pass through rocky areas, woods of pines and firs, rivulets of crystalline waters, paths full of narcissi and lizards... and all this on horseback, a magic route for a fascinating outing. There are also BMX courses for children and for young people and adults. From May to November it holds competitions, exhibitions and gives courses for riders at various levels. Federació Motociclista d Andorra: Tel Cycling Ordino and la Massana Of the total of 6 passes in this area, some have been the finishing part of a stage in world famous cycle races, such as the Vuelta a España and the Tour du France. The Coma d Arcalís Pass and the Pass in the Pal-Vallnord sector are two of the hardest. The cyclists chose us for the availability of hotels, so that they are able to sleep at altitude, offering special conditions for cyclists with suitable facilities and meals.

19 35 ordino-arcalís One of the most spectacular landscapes in the Valleys of the North is found hidden in the Ordino-Arcalís sector. And now that the chair lift from Creussans has started working during the summer, it is possible to enjoy it. Enjoy the high mountain and get to the Tristaina lakes, one of the most admired excursions of the summer season. At the Tristaina lakes, at an altitude of 2,300 metres, you can also practice scuba diving with Diving Vallnord. The spring thaw reveals a biodiversity unique to the Principality, found at a depth of 25 metres below the water. 20 Pal, for the little ones The Vallnord Mountain Park concentrates most of its activities in the sector of Pal. There are some good novelties, such as the new karting circuit of the latest generation and laser combat, a very innovative version of paintball with weapons which throw out infrared ray impulses with a range of 150 metres. These two activities complete the broad offer available for the general public, including the practice of archery, a Tyrolean traverse, a jump and a descent with karts, among others.

21 37 ADVENTURE AT FULL THROTTLE Pal is also the starting point for excursions with motor vehicles. The most popular are routes with 4 4, buggies and quads. The routes go through forest tracks to enjoy the landscape, and the excursions can be completed with a typical mountain lunch in one of the local rural restaurants. Without doubt, the smugglers route is the most popular, as it culminates with the highest mountain summits of the Pyrenees, crossing the Andorran-Spanish frontier, as did the smugglers in the old days, and passing through the legendary village of Tor. PEkEPARk Children from 1 to 11 have their own space at the Caubella de Pal. At the Pekepark inflatable castles predominate, but there are also ball pools and trampolines and pony rides can be arranged. The youngest can enjoy as never before the great range of activities, such as driving electric karts or taking a trip in the little train, always supervised by the monitors at the station. It is recommended to get a Peke Summer Day Pass or Baby Summer Day Pass to experience an unforgettable day.

22 Maximum descent in altitude at the vallnord Bike Park The Vallnord Bike Park offers mountain bike lovers more than 30 kilometres of downhill routes, with varying degrees of difficulty and with descents of over 1,000 metres. All this is concentrated in the Pal sector, with a downhill school under the direction of Roger González, a professional bike patrol and rider, offering classes for beginners and to improve performance. The Vallnord Bike Park has become a point of reference in the south of Europe for the quality of the installations and the variety of circuits. There are more than 30 kilometres of downhill routes, accessible with three special lifts adapted for use during the summer: the cable car from La Massana and detachable chair lifts from Serra 2 and Cubil. In fact, this last allows access to more technical circuits with steeper descents, only suitable for the more professional.

23 39 MOUNTAIN BIkE SCHOOL AND BEGINNERS PACkAGE With the aim of introducing this sports discipline to the general public, the Vallnord Bike Park consolidates the downhill school under the management of the local rider and bike patrol of Vallnord, Roger González. With a great team of professionals, the school offers beginners courses and also for improved performance on each descent. FAMILY DESCENTS Also, to practise the descent as a family or to start in this discipline, the Vallnord Bike Park has two easy tracks: Verdet and Serra 2, ideal for the first introduction to this sport. There is also the Beginner s Package, which includes a ticket for the cable car, hire of the mountain bike, helmet and protection kit for two hours, and the company of an expert guide on the Verdet circuit.

24 the most international calendar MAXIAVALANCHE 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th June The Europe Maxiavalanche Cup is generally the trial that opens the calendar of summer competitions. It is one of the more spectacular trials, as it brings together more than 600 international riders, who dispute for the podium on a run descending 1,000 metres. DESMAN TROPHY 22th, 23th and 24th June Business and institutions have a date at the Desman Trophy. For three days, almost thirty teams from Andorra, Spain and France compete in six sports trials which put to proof the competitive spirit and will to win of each of their members.

25 41 ANDORRA ULTRA TRAIL 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th July This is the toughest trial in the Pyrenees. More than 1,200 runners of 20 different nationalities meet to tackle the five trials: the Ronda dels Cims, 170 km; the Ultra Mític, 112 km; the Ultra Iniciàtic, 102 km; the Trail, 35 km, and the Solidaritrail, 10 km. VALLNORD SOLO BIkE WEEkEND An annual date at Vallnord, organised by the specialised magazine Solo Bici, this is the occasion for demonstrations of novelties in biking for the season. There is also the Pedalada Temps d Aventura and the Catalan Biketrial Championship. CATALAN INTERNATIONAL DH CUP The Cédric Gracia circuit, 1,250 metres, is the setting for this international trial which brings together a hundred riders, mostly from Catalonia, Andorra and other parts of Spain.

27 43 vallnord, three skiing domains Pal: amusement A place to learn, laugh and share. This is the ski station closest to the centre of Andorra, with easy access by cable car from La Massana. Ideal for families, with its gentle mountain slopes and wooded areas. The Pekepark is one of the best snow gardens in the Pyrenees; there are two moving belts and a whole lot of attractions so that the youngest can learn to ski while playing. At Pal also there is the area of activities: mushing, snowshoes, snow bikes, laser combat, ponies, jumping... Arcalís: unique The pearl of Andorra. A privileged area with the best snow conditions, due to its northern location. The very steep differences in levels and the virgin snow make it the most alpine station, with an exclusive freeride area of easy access. But also, in contrast to the more difficult parts, Arcalís has the longest run for beginners in the Pyrenees: La Megaverda. Arinsal: the most complete The most convenient skiing sector, with a cable car and chair lift in the village to take you to the centre of the station in minutes, and with a piste, Les Marrades, which lets you get back to your hotel without taking off your skis. And Arinsal has the best freestyle area, designed by the ASP Snowparks team and the venue for the best international competitions.

Three trials are held in Ordino during July and September with courses as famous as the ascent to Coll d Ordino of 10 km, from Llorts to La Coma d Arcalís of 13 km and from Ordino to Sorteny of 12 km. Cultural visits Ordino Two theme routes Cultural Ordino and Discovering La Cortinada are available to visitors at very practical prices. During a trip of two and a half hours you visit various points of cultural, natural and heritage interest, with a guide who tells you about the traditions and history of Ordino and Andorran. October The International Festival of Narciso Yepes takes place, in honour of the great musical inventor of the 10-string guitar.
