The Wood Buffalo Culture Days planning committee is seeking individuals and organizations to help organize and host fun, family-friendly events that feature our region s diverse culture. Community Art Workshops The Wood Buffalo Artist in Residency (AIR) program is a mentorship opportunity for emerging artists to learn and build on their artistic techniques, as well as their professional portfolios. Throughout the program, participants will also lead six community art workshops in various communities throughout the region. The workshops will be free of charge and are open to participants of all ages and skill levels. All supplies will be provided. Please ensure to wear appropriate painting attire. 6 Call for Local Artists ignight Submission Deadline: Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2 pm The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo invites artists residing in Wood Buffalo to submit proposals to stage temporary, light-based public art in Jubilee Plaza, Downtown Fort McMurray. The ignight exhibition will take place from October 20 to 29, An information session will be held on Thursday, July 6, 6:30 p.m. at McMurray Experience (9909 Franklin Avenue). Submission deadline: Monday, August 14, 2017 at 4 pm The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking digital submissions to wrap traffic cabinets throughout the community. Selected photographs will be transferred onto a vinyl wrap to be installed on 42 traffic cabinets located along Confederation, Thickwood and MacKenzie Boulevards in Fort McMurray, AB. This project aims to support public art and beautification initiatives while deterring vandalism of public property. Submit a play today- no experience necessary! Submitted plays must be one act only and between 20 and 60 minutes long. New and original work welcome! For more information, please contact hanna.fridhed@adfa.ca Community Grants for Alberta s Non-Profit Sector Application deadline: Tuesday, August 15, 2017 Non-profit groups now have greater access to provincial funding to help them better deliver services thanks to expanded and streamlined Community Grants programs. The Enhanced Capacity Advancement Program (ECAP) has been expanded to provide up to $225,000 per year for three years to assist organizations with a primary mandate to build non-profit sector capacity and strengthen volunteerism. Non-profits may also be eligible for funding to help improve their sustainability. Guidelines and applications for all Community Grants programs are available online at culture.alberta.ca/communitygrants. Deadlines for submissions to Recreation Culture Calls is Tuesday at 12 pm.
