1 Pre Tour Activities Pack Key Dates: Activities Selection OPENS - Saturday 1 st September 8:30pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) Activities Selection CLOSES - Tuesday 11 th September 11:59pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) Information about the Pre Tour I hope you re all super excited for the Contingent Pre Tour! We re going to open with a blast in spectacular Queenstown, better known as the Adventure Capital of the World. We ve scheduled more than 1600 activity places, over 130 different activity sessions, all jam packed into 3 epic days so many options! When you log on to the online bookings system (check out the newsletter for details on how to login) you ll see an amazing array of activities available. We ve done our best to ensure that all the activities are available to everyone, but unfortunately, it s not possible for everyone to do every activity. There s just not enough time! But rest assured, you will have an amazing Pre Tour. Throughout your time at the Venture and particularly during our time in Queenstown you ll be responsible for getting yourself to your activities; making sure you re ready with all the equipment you need and you re on time. If you re late or unprepared, you could miss out on your activity and won t get your money back. The Pre Tour is a build-your-own-adventure that you re the master of. We ll provide a full personalised itinerary when you get to Queenstown so you have all the info you need to get around, which is based on the activities you choose when selection opens on 1 September. Included Value So that everyone has a great Pre Tour, the following is included for all Venturers: $100 to spend on any of the optional Pre Tour activities; A ticket for the Skyline Gondola & 5 luge rides - A Jet Boat Ride with K-Jet! (we can t tell you anymore it s a surprise!) You ll also have AUD$100 allocated to spend on your choice of additional activities throughout the Pretour. For some Venturers, this will be enough as there are many great included low-cost or free activities available. We do know that some of you will want to take part in more expensive activities, so you also have the option to add to your account. These extra costs will be added to your final Venture payment due 1st November Free and Un-booked Activities As well as the optional activities listed in the following pages, there will be heaps of other activities to do in Queenstown. These may either be free such as hikes, frisbee golf, or exploring Queenstown s shops and activities (eg. escape rooms). More info on all of these activities will be available in your Pre Tour manual, which you will receive later. Waivers Pay attention this is very important. After you finish selecting your activities, you will be asked to download the waivers pack. Please complete and return these waivers back to us by 30 th September. If we have not received your waiver for a particular activity by then you will be removed from the activity. We recommend completing all the waivers even if you have not selected that particular activity, just in

2 case things change when we are there (provided your parents are comfortable with you completing all of the activities). Make sure to submit your signed waivers to the Activity Booking System by Sunday 30 September. Activity Changes We re visiting New Zealand at their busiest time of year, so to get you places on the best activities, we ve had to book spots well in advance. Once your activities are selected through the system, these bookings will become final by the closing date. Apart from changes for medical reasons, no alterations to your activities will be possible. Pre Tour Itinerary Wednesday 26 th December 2018 Some of the Pre Tour members depart Australia and are in transit on their way to Queenstown. Thursday 27 th December 2018 The Contingent arrives into Queenstown at different times during the day. Today will be focused on getting everyone into their units, settled into accommodation and exploring Queenstown. Friday 28 th to Sunday 30 th December 2018 During these 3 days you will get to experience the adventure capital of the world - Queenstown. From jet boating to rafting, the magnificent Milford Sound to tandem Sky Diving, these 3 days have options to keep everyone entertained! Malre sure you use your 5 ride Gondola and Luge pass at some point during these 3 days so you can experience the amazing views over the lake and town and Monday 31 st December 2018 Today is the last day of the Pre Tour. We ll pack our gear, fly from Queenstown to Auckland, and then catch a coach to the Venture site where we can move in and get ready for the opening ceremony! NOTE: Our system is setup to ensure your activities don t clash with each other, so make sure you select the activities you want to do the most first.

3 Pre Tour Optional Activities Ben Lomond Day Hike Duration: Full Day Cost: Free! Make sure you jump at this opportunity to see some of the best views ever! You will have breakfast on the banks of Lake Wakatipu before walking through a forest straight out of The Lord Of The Rings, between mountain bike tracks, and up above the treeline. With Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu on one side, and the Gateway to the Southern Mountains the other, it s one of the best views around! Average to good fitness required. ParaSailing - Duration: 1 hour (time for preparation, flight etc) Cost: AUD$80 (Triple flight 3 people) The chute will be inflated above the vessel and flyers will be attached to the chute on the flight deck of the boat. Boat speed will increase to about 25 km per hour, slowly lifting yourself and two mates up and away from the boat to enjoy the exhilaration of free flight, gradually rising 600ft into the air above, and taking in some of the most breath-taking views of Queenstown. After the flight is complete your chute is simply winched back to the stable flight deck for a smooth landing. Nevis Swing (AJ Hacket Bungy) - Duration: 1.5 hrs (time for preparation, swing etc) Cost: AUD$175 (Tandem) Introducing the Most Famous Swing in the World.it s big, it s bad and it s loud (if you consider the screams of every person who s had a go). Swing tandem with a friend - forwards, backwards, upside down - you choose. You ll complete the 300m arc, bellowing at the top of your lungs, wanting to do it all over again once you re back on solid ground. There s nothing else like it. Zipline 6 line Kea tour (ZipTrek) - Duration: 3 hours Cost: AUD$194 (includes Skyline Gondola ride) Starting from the top of the Skyline Gondola, this 6-line adventure will give you an experience of the Kiwi forest like nothing else. The Kea tour finishes with a zipline ride that descends 30 stories at speeds of up to 70kph it is a truly unique way to get down the mountain. This stunningly beautiful guided journey through ancient native beech forest comprises six breathtaking, tree to tree ziplines with outstanding alpine vistas, and returns you to the bottom of the gondola hill on a total high. Includes a 20-minute guided trek along the local 'Tiki Trail', an ancient native Beech forest.

4 Canyoning (Queenstown Canyon) - Duration: 4 hours (including transport) Cost: AUD$156 A naturally carved high-walled canyon of mica schist fed by the crystal clear waters from Lake Isobel, tucked away secretly below a canopy of ancient beech forest. Embrace the stunning beauty of your surrounds as you descend and explore the canyon by zip line, abseiling waterfalls, plunging into natural pools, floating down narrow passageways and cascading down chutes - all in incredible natural surroundings.. MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM. Tandem Kayak Hire - Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: AUD$49 Kayaking is a great way to exercise, have fun, and enjoy our awesome scenery and environment. 1.5hr hire is based from 1 Mile Creek, Lake Wakatipu. MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM. Stand-up Paddleboard Hire Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: AUD$49 The World s most scenic paddle boarding experience on Lake Wakatipu. Framed by stunning mountain ranges while paddling on crystal clear alpine water. Instructors will give some basic shore based tuition which covers paddling techniques, balance and safety. MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM. Hydro Attack - Duration: 10 minute ride Cost: AUD$99 You will be taken on an adrenaline-packed tour of Lake Wakatipu, in a semi-submersible shark that feels like a cross between a fighter jet and a torpedo. Skimming across the lake at speeds up to 80kph, you dive under the water and seconds later the pilot points it to the sky and blasts back out again. Flying five metres into air, the shark shatters the lake into a million crystal shards on a screaming re-entry. Check out our video: Max height: 195cm Max Weight: 105kg

5 Tandem Skydive (NZone Skydive) - Duration: 3.5 hrs (includes preparation, flight, skydive etc) Cost: AUD$297 The first skydive is a scary thing - BE BRAVE. Even if you're not, pretend to be, no one can tell the difference. It takes a certain kind of person to jump from an aircraft at 12,000ft into thin air. It takes courage. Expect sensory overload as your mind, body and soul fight against every natural self-preserving urge. Harnessed by space age materials to an experienced qualified Jumpmaster, you step out of that aircraft door and for some 60 seconds you plummet toward the ground at 200 kph - terminal velocity! Max weight: 115kg Jet Boating (k-jet) - Duration: 1 hour Cost: AUD$99 Over 60 minutes of unforgettable thrills, spins and exhilaration. Your twin engine Jet boat roars across crystal clear Lake Wakatipu at breath-taking speed, surrounded by majestic mountains and mesmerizing scenery. Then you zoom under the Kawarau Dam onto the deep green waters of The Kawarau River, complete with lots of 360 spins. Next the adventure heightens as your driver navigates the fast moving currents of the narrow braided Shotover River, racing up the shallow channels at speeds of up to 85 KPH in water that s less than 10cm deep in places. Finally, you return to the pier for a complimentary view from Queenstown s Underwater Observatory. Remember a Jet Boat experience is already included in the PreTour. White Water Rafting Duration: 4 hours (including transport) Cost: AUD$169 Super scenic and playful, the Kawarau River is ideal for first time rafters or those looking for a more relaxed rafting experience, and even featured in the Lord of the Rings as the River Anduin. The grandeur of these canyons is not lost as you pass under the world s first Bungy operation, making your way to raft the unforgettable 400m Dog Leg rapid New Zealand s longest commercially rafted rapid! Total Rafting time approx 1.5hrs.. MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM. Lake Cruise - Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: AUD$20 This hour and a half cruise takes you on a scenic journey from Queenstown to the end of Lake Wakatipu and back on a luxury boat. Relax as you enjoy the scenery and intriguing stories, facts and history from your guide. Great Leaders activity.

6 Milford Sound Overnight Explorer Duration: 24 hour experience Departs midday 28th, 29th & 30th. Returns midday the following day. Cost: AUD$199 (AUD$245 with kayaking) Milford Sound is one of the world s top travel destinations, with the drive in from Queenstown being an experience on its own! After experiencing the majesty of Milford Sound with a boat cruise and a visit to the underwater observatory, you ll stay overnight at Gunns Lodge just out of Milford Sound and drive home the next morning. Includes Cruise, Underwater Observatory and optional Kayaking. MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM (If kayaking) Milford Sound Scenic Flight - Duration: 3 hours (40 minute flight time) Cost: AUD$415 Your flight takes you over the highest peaks in Fiordland and their glaciers. View the whole of Milford Sound all the way to the Tasman Sea, including Mitre Peak and the Bowen and Stirling Falls. Your return flight to Queenstown is via the famous Sutherland Falls and over the magnificent mountains and lakes of the Fiordland National Park. Flight time is 40 minutes each way plus any landing time. Onsen Hot Pools (Leaders Only) - Duration: 1 hour Cost: AUD$38 (four adults sharing) The Onsen Hot Pools experience is all about unwinding and soaking-up Queenstown's spectacular scenery. Immerse yourself in the views, the pure waters, and the fresh mountain air, as your mind and body surrenders to the deep warmth and gentle massage of the private pools.
