2 Fall 2018, VOL. 4 Closing Season is ALMOST here! Sadly, closing your pool tends to mark the end of summer. Our swimming weather usually lasts through September and often into October with really no risk of freezing until after Thanksgiving. So, theoretically, there is no reason to hurry and close your pool, however, almost all area pool owners will have their pools closed by the end of November. Closing early (when kids go back to school) or late (after Thanksgiving) is truly a personal preference. Remember these two BIG factors when determining your pool closing: How many trees do I have? Which type of cover do I use? Trees If you have a lot of trees, once the leaves start falling, you will need to clean out your skimmer baskets and your automatic cleaner 2-3 times a day. Covers Mesh cover: It is important to "close late and open early. This minimizes algae growth that occurs when sunlight passes through the mesh. All Pools o Have your water tested at our Retail Showroom 3-10 days before closing and balance per our Pool Care Specialist recommendations. o Remove chlorine sticks or turn off the feeder so sanitizer levels can drop before draining the pool. o Clean your filter with Kleen-It. Our staff can deep clean your Cartridge & DE Filter over the winter.
