2 Welcome to North Hills! Welcome to the 50th season of fun at North Hills! The North Hills Swim and Tennis Club is an exceptional private recreational facility, and this year promises to be better than ever. We are extremely fortunate to have Pete Zestermann as Manager and Shane Smith as Assistant Manager this year. They will lead our dedicated staff of lifeguards. We also have an excellent coaching staff on board ready to lead the Froggies Swim and Dive teams into another successful season measured by personal goals achieved, team spirit and fun registering off the fun meter! USE YOUR CLUB! We invite you to Vacation ALL Summer at North Hills. Come to the club for a Froggies Swim Meet, water zumba, one of our fantastic socials, a family grill out or just a relaxing day around the pool. Join us at the pool, just as two generations of families have since 1963, the year North Hills opened. Do you know a neighbor family or friend who might like to join? Invite them for a day, show them how nice North Hills is, and urge them to join! We are always looking for new members, and in fact, it is new members who will help us sustain our wonderful club in the future. This handbook is your guide to the summer at North Hills. You will find club information on the following pages. Calendars will be ed to the members and copies can be found on the bulletin board in the pool office. Please check for updates to this information on the Club bulletin board in the front office, and on our website: If you have any concerns or suggestions, or if you would like to help out in a leadership or volunteer role, please contact one of the Board members. 5 2013 Dues: Membership Information Family..$ Family memberships are for parents and children that reside in the same household year round. There is a maximum of 2 adults per family membership. Children must be under the age of 24. Couple..$ Couple memberships are for 2 people that reside in the same household year round. Silver Couple...$ For couples over the age of 65. Single...$ Silver Single.$ For individuals over the age of 65. Please contact a board member for any membership questions. 2 for 1 for New Members Join with another new family and receive a discount on your dues. For the 2013 Summer pay $ and pay the regular membership dues for the Summer of Please see the manager or any board member for details. Refunds for Members North Hills Members sponsoring a new membership in 2013 are eligible to receive a refund on their 2013 dues. Sponsor a new family and receive $75 refund, a new couple and receive $50 refund and a new single and receive $25 refund. There is a maximum of $150 in refunds per season, per membership. Both memberships must be paid in full before a refund can be issued. Please contact Lori Hemmelgarn to receive your refund. 4

6 Guest Fee Policy & Group Rate Information Members MUST inform the manager if they are having a party of 10 or more people before the day of the event. Guest fee: $5.00 per person/$10.00 per family,per day. Pay guest fees & sign in as you enter the club. Guests must accompany a member when visiting North Hills. Guests must follow all pool rules and instructions of the manager and guards. Members are responsible for making sure their guests understand the rules. A guest may only visit North Hills 5 times during a Summer. Group Party rates and rules are as follows: 1) Groups of 15 or more persons pay $3.00 per person. 2) Group parties must be sponsored by a member, who must be present for the entire party. 3) All parties must be scheduled with the manager in ADVANCE to qualify for the group rate. 4) Groups must clean up at the completion of their party. Babysitters who care for children of members may accompany the children to the pool while the children are in their care. Babysitters may not use pool facilities at other times (such as the weekend) when they are not actually babysitting. Contact Lori if you have any questions. Hours of Operation North Hills is open daily 12 noon until 9:00 PM, 7 days a week, WEATHER PERMITTING. Pool hours are 12 noon -8:45 pm. Shortened hours are in effect when school is in session, usually early June and again in late August. Pool closes early (3 PM) on days of home Swim/Dive Meets. Please check the calendar for swim meet days. The Manager on duty has the authority to adjust pool hours according to weather, attendance, and staffing levels. All members must be prepared to leave the club at closing time each day. 5

7 2013 Summer Club Rules Our rules are meant for the safety, courtesy and respect of all members, and to enable everyone to enjoy the Club to its fullest. Please follow the rules and encourage your children to do so also. All instructions from managers and guards are to be promptly obeyed. They have the right to discipline or remove unruly members or guests. Thank you for keeping our Club safe and fun! Membership Rules Glass is prohibited on club grounds. All members must turn in their membership card upon entering the club. Your card will be returned when you leave the club. Guests must be signed in and guest fees paid upon entering. Children 8 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult (someone over the age of 16). Older children left at the pool need to have a card filed in the office with emergency information. After 6 pm, any child under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Tennis Courts Please observe basic tennis etiquette: no foul or loud language, racquet throwing, hitting nets, or crossing courts while others are playing. Respect other players. Please pick up used balls, cups and trash. NO skateboarding or bike riding on the courts. Baby Pool Parents are responsible for the safety and supervision of their own children. All children must be with an adult while in pool area. No child over 6 is permitted to use the baby pool or toys. Infants and toddlers must wear "Swimmies" or plastic pants with tight legs while in either pool. No disposable diapers permitted. (Red Cross Recommendations) Swimmies are available for purchase at the front desk. There is a diaper changing station in the women s locker room. 6

8 POOL Please shower before entering pool. No running around the pool No back dives or flips off the side of the pool. No dunking or rough play No diving except in the diving well One bounce on the diving boards. Jump off the end of diving boards & swim to the ladder. One person on a diving board at a time No sitting or hanging on lap lane dividers. No cutting through the lap lanes. One person on slide at a time. Clear area in front of slide after going down slide. No swimming through slide area while slide is in use. No food or drink in or near the pools. No playing on the steps in the shallow end of the pool. Adult Swim Adult Swim is every hour and lasts 15 minutes. Children (18 and under) must exit the pool at Adult Swim. Infants and young children may stay in the pool during Adult Swim with an adult. Snack Bar and Picnic Shelter Area Glass bottles are prohibited in the club. The refrigerator/freezer inside the snack bar door is for use by the members. Throw away all trash. ***Stray wrappers in the pump system damage the pump. *** No food is permitted in or near the pools. Please clean up after meals. Wash all utensils, grill utensils, plates, etc. borrowed from the snack bar. Clean grill and turn off propane tanks after use. Deposit trash and cans in appropriate containers. Food preparation area of snack bar may only be entered by adults. 7

9 Banner Ad Program The North Hills Banner Ad program was introduced for the 2011 season. The program was greeted with much enthusiasm from businesses and members! 10 POOL EVENTS The social calendar is still in progress and will be ed to each member at the beginning of each month. Members can also pick up a calendar of events in the pool office. Be sure to pick yours up so you don't miss any of the fun! We hope that you were able to join us for the Member Potluck. It was a great way to kick off the 2013 season! Please note that all events are run by volunteers. If for some reason, an event is cancelled or moved, we will notify the membership through the front desk, , facebook and the website.
