6 SDPS P3 CCA Experience Day: Every Friday starting on 19 Jan 2018 (Term 1, Week 3) Time: 7.30 am am Recess: 9.30 am am Experience 1 session for each CCA
7 SDPS Why P3 CCA Experience? Students discover their interests and talents Make a better selection for CCA at the end of Semester 1 (end May) during CCA Registration period Some CCA Teachers may also recognise what students may be good at and encourage them to choose the CCA
8 How? SDPS On Friday mornings, all P3-6 classes will gather in the hall and be split into their CCA groups Each class of P3 students will split into 2 groups (@20 students per group) Each P3 group will experience a different CCA (1 session) each week Rotate among all 13 different CCAs by end of Sem 1 P3 students will carry out a reflection at the end of each CCA to understand their interests and strengths better
9 CCA Registration SDPS At the end of Sem 1, after all P3 students have experienced all the CCAs, CCA Registration letters will be given out Students will make choices for top 4 CCAs They may not be offered their top CCA choices Allocation of CCA is based on: Student Choice Student Inclination (teacher feedback sought in some cases) Ballot In Sem 2 (after June holidays), they will be allocated the formal CCA and continue with it
10 SDPS What can students expect from CCA Participation? Equip them with skills, knowledge and attitudes in the various CCA domains (Cognitive, Physical and Aesthetics) Discover what they love doing and develop their passion Work collaboratively with friends Develop their character
11 SDPS What is expected of students during CCA? Pay close attention and follow instructions - Respect Show a positive attitude to learning - Responsibility Work collaboratively with friends (sometimes with friends from other levels) - Care & Harmony Do the right thing and be truthful - Integrity Keep trying and don t give up even when activities are challenging - Resilience
12 SDPS Other matters for Students Come in PE Attire on Fridays during CCA Have water bottles filled with water Teachers will bring students to the different CCA gathering areas Students to reflect and remember as much as possible about each CCA through the CCA Reflection booklets
13 2018 P3 SwimSafer Programme
14 P3 SwimSafer Swimming is part of PE lessons and is compulsory Students are excused only if they have a medical condition that does not allow them to swim. Please inform teachers and pass the doctor s letter to them. Target is to have all students to be equipped with water safety and basic swimming skills (SwimSafer Stage 1)
15 P3 SwimSafer Some students who already have certain levels of SwimSafer certification, may be grouped to be trained for other stages (eg: if student already has completed swimsafer stage 1, they may be trained in swimsafer stage 2 skills) Provide photocopy of relevant SwimSafer certificates to teachers

17 P3 SwimSafer Items to bring along (as stated in letter) 1. Swimming trunks/costume (should preferably not be longer than the school skirt/pants when worn over) 2. Goggles 3. Towel 4. Water bottle 5. Raincoat/poncho (in case it rains on the way to the pool and back) 6. Recess items (wallets, meal boxes, etc.) avoid buying food from outside (eg: Mcdonalds) and passing to students after their swim 7. Inhaler (for students with asthma) 8. Sun block lotion/cream (optional as the lessons are carried out in the morning) 9. Slippers when going to shower rooms 10.A plastic bag to contain the wet items after the swimming lesson
18 P3 SwimSafer 1 swim cap per child will be provided. Please ensure all belongings are labelled clearly (name and class). This would include clothing and swimming attire. Remind students to check all their belongings and be responsible for them.
19 P3 SwimSafer Safety reminders for students 1. Instructions from swimming instructors and teachers should be obeyed promptly. 2. No student should leave the pool without permission. 3. Running alongside the pool deck is not allowed. 4. Pushing friends into the pool is not allowed. 5. No student should be allowed in the water until permission is granted by the swimming instructors or teacher. 6. Students should wear proper swimming trunks/costumes. 7. Students should not swim if they have any foot or skin infection. 8. Students should not swim if they have a severe cold or ear infection.
20 P3 SwimSafer SwimSafer 2.0 (2018) 1. Test Protocol Assessment conducted in authentic setting No goggles to be used during assessment 2. Online knowledge assessment (completed within 2 months of practical assessment) 3. ActiveSG Web-based portal E-cert provided upon passing SwimSafer 2.0 Record will stay in the system
