Location: Facility: Times: Friday s Events: Rules: Shasta College, Old Oregon Trail, Redding, CA Directions to the pool: From I-5 take 299 East/Burney Exit (#680), turn east onto 299 East, proceed approximately 2 miles to Old Oregon Trail/Shasta College exit, turn left (north) at the signal onto Old Oregon Trail. The college will be on the right. Drive.6 miles to the second Shasta College entrance and proceed east approximately.3 miles to a large parking lot. The pool is located east of the gym. Competition will be conducted in a 25 yard, 10-lane outdoor heated pool. In accordance with C, the competition course has a pool depth of 4 at 3 3 ½ and 4 6 at The competition course has been certified in accordance with C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. A separate 25-yard pool will be available for continuous warm-up throughout the meet. Warm-ups Meet Begins Friday 12:30 PM 2:00 PM Saturday 7:30 AM 9:00 AM Sunday 7:30 AM 8:45 AM* 9:15 AM *8:45-9:15 Tribute to the Graduates All events will be swum slowest to fastest. These events may be swum alternating boys and girls. Swimmers will need to provide their own counting devices and lap counters for the 500 Free USA Swimming and Sierra Nevada Swimming rules will apply. All events are timed finals. A USA Swimming registered coach must supervise all warm-ups. If you do not have a USAS registered coach at the meet, report to the Deck Referee for lane and coach assignment. All coaches must present their 2016 USAS Coach Membership card to the Meet Referee at the beginning of the meet. According to D, "Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer's legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement." This meet is pre-seeded. Any swimmer who fails to compete in an individual event in which he/she was seeded will be barred (penalty scratched) for the rest of the day s events including relays.

2 Eligibility: All 18 & under swimmers must have a current USA Swimming Membership. The SNS Registrar will verify all swimmer's memberships prior to the meet, and if valid, will be allowed to compete. Sierra Nevada Swimming does not allow swimmers to register for a USA Swimming Membership at the meet. All 18 & under swimmers must be attached to a North Valley Aquatic League (NVAL) team and must meet NVAL requirements, including having swum in at least two (2) league meets (meets hosted by NVAL teams and the Sierra Nevada Junior Olympics Meet) in the 2016 Season, as defined in the NVAL by-laws. Unattached swimmers may not swim in NVAL Championships. Additionally, each North Valley team must have paid their NVAL dues prior to the entries deadline. Teams that have not paid their dues are considered not in good standing with NVAL and may NOT participate. Safe Sport: Entry Limits: Entries: According to USA Swimming Rule H: Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in the changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms. Sierra Nevada Swimming would like to further state that the use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted behind the starting end of the pool at any time. For the safety of the Athletes and according to I, Deck Changes are Prohibited. 10 & under swimmers may compete in up to 3 individual events per day (Saturday/Sunday) plus one event Friday, plus relays, with a maximum of 7 individual events plus relays for the whole meet swimmers may compete in up to 2 individual events on Friday and up to 4 individual events per day on Saturday and Sunday plus relays, with a maximum of 8 individual events plus relays for the whole meet. Entries may be completed as follows: (1) ONLINE ENTRIES: Enter online at to receive an immediate entry confirmation. Online entries will be accepted through Sunday, July 24, 2016 at midnight. (2) USA Swimming approved Standard Database Interchange format (SDIF) electronic file with a signed hard copy with a contact person and phone number. Electronic files and entry fees must be received by Monday, July 18, (3) Mailed entries using a SAMMS Consolidated entry card. Entry cards must be COMPLETELY filled out and legible, including a current USA-S registration number. The entry card may be reproduced. The meet entry card is available from the Sierra Nevada Swimming website: Mail entries must be postmarked by Thursday, July 14, Entries will not be accepted without entry fee. No Time or NT entries will be accepted and are encouraged for swimmers in any event they have not swum before. All times will be verified. No deck entries will be allowed. Entry Fees: Pool Surcharge Fee is $10.00 per swimmer. $4.00 per individual event per swimmer. (includes $0.50 for SNS, $1 for Age Group Travel Fund, $0.75 for Senior Travel Fund). $8.50 per relay (includes $1.00 for SNS, $2.25 for Age Group Travel Fund and $1.25 for Senior Travel Fund). 3 Relays: Check-in/ Scratches: Relays will be deck entered and cost $8.50 per relay. Relay cards are due to the Clerk of Course no later than 1 hour after the start of the meet each day. Relay team division designation is based on the designation of the team. The four members of a relay team may be a combination of seasonal and year round swimmers from the same team. THIS MEET IS PRE-SEEDED. All swimmers are automatically checked in to the events which they are registered for. If a swimmer is registered for more than the max number of events on Friday and/or on either Saturday or Sunday, he/she must scratch any additional events prior to the scratch deadline. If a swimmer does not scratch the additional events by the deadlines stated, he/she will be checked into the first 1/2 (Friday) or 3/4 (Saturday/Sunday) events and scratched out of any additional events. No refunds will be given for events over the limits stated. The scratch deadline for Friday shall be Thursday at 8:00 PM. (To scratch any of Friday s events, please have your coach the Clerk of Course at kalsbeek@sbcglobal.net. This must come from the coach, not individual swimmers or their parents.) The scratch deadline for Saturday shall be Friday at end of Friday s session. The scratch deadline for Sunday shall be Saturday at end of Saturday s session. Please see the Administrative Official or Clerk of Course at the pool. Any swimmer who fails to compete in an individual event in which he/she was seeded will be barred (penalty scratched) for the rest of the day s events including relays. Awards: Individual events are divided into two separate divisions: Seasonal and Year Round. Both divisions will score 1 st through 12 th place for individual events for the following age groups: 6-under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and The top 5 high-point winners in each age group in both divisions will be awarded a trophy. In the event of a tie for High Point, the 25 Free results will be used for 8 & under swimmers and the results will be used for 9-18 swimmers to break the tie. Sierra Nevada Miner Pins will be awarded to all swimmers achieving a new A time. Relays will be swum as only one division and will be awarded to 6 th place. Teams will be awarded 1 st through 3 rd in each division: Seasonal and Year Round. Awards will be given to the coaches the following day, except Sunday s awards which will be given to the coaches shortly after the end of the meet on Sunday. High Point and Team awards will be given out at an awards ceremony shortly after the conclusion of the meet. Awards will not be mailed. Scoring: As per rule : Individual Events.16, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Relay Events 32, 26, 24, 22, 20, 18 Relays will be scored as one division, but the points credited to any team will be reflected in the divisional standings. This means that a Seasonal team will be credited points towards their Seasonal total, and Year Round teams will be credited points towards their Year Round total. Team Scoring: Teams are divided into 2 groups: Seasonal and Year Round. Any team who has more than 20% of their swimmers entered into Championships as Year Round members will be classified as a Year Round team. Only the top 3 swimmers from a team in each event of each division will be scored towards their team score. Only the top relay team will be scored towards their team score. Coaches: All coaches must have on them, in a visible location, their 2016 USA Swimming membership card with a background verification expiration date printed on it along with the athlete protection certification expiration date. All card carrying coaches must check in each day with the Clerk of Course to receive their program and wristband (for meals). Only carded coaches are allowed at the coach s tables. There will be assigned seating for coaches provided by the host team. Coaches meeting will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each session.

Current 2016 USA Swimming Certification Cards will be checked before being allowed to work the deck. Each team shall, by entry deadline, provide to the Meet Referee or Meet Director, a list of officials who have agreed to represent that team during the conduct of the meet. Those teams who have not provided sufficient officials shall have all their swimmers treated as time only swimmers in all respects for that session. Officials dress will be white polo shirts and navy blue pants/shorts/skirts and white tennis shoes. An officials meeting will begin 30 minutes prior to the beginning of each session. Number of Swimmers entered in meet per Team Number of Trained and Carded Officials Required ver Timers: Hospitality: Admission: Restrictions: Each participating team will be assigned lanes to provide timers. Formula for figuring out number of timers: Number of swimmers for team divided by total number of swimmers multiplied by the number of timing chairs needed. All numbers are rounded up to the closest whole number. Host team will fill empty chairs. Timing responsibilities will be sent out via the SNS Volunteer Distribution as well as included in the general to all participants prior to the meet. There will be a snack bar with healthy meals, drinks, and snacks. Hospitality will be provided to all officials, volunteers, and carded coaches with wristbands. Free. Three-day programs will be available for $6.00. Programs will contain all heat and lane assignments for all sessions. Smoking and/or use of other tobacco products are prohibited in all areas of the swim venue. Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, pets, and personal heaters are prohibited in the pool area. No animals are allowed on campus with the exception of service dogs. All vehicles shall park in paved parking lots only (not in dirt), except for delivery and pick up of equipment. Children must be under adult supervision at all times and not left unattended. Campers and motor homes allowed in paved parking lots only. Overnight guests must remain in designated areas. No individual cooking equipment will be allowed. Tents and canopies will be restricted to the Quad and Lawn areas around the gym. No tarps allowed on grass/lawn areas. Fish ponds are off limits. No swimming except during competition. No swimming without a lifeguard present. No chairs or other equipment shall impede access to restrooms. Team areas are not allowed on the pool deck.
