Lyons Branch YMCA facility is a outdoor 6 lane 50 meter pool, configured for this meet as a 50 meter competition pool. Electronic timing is by Colorado System VI. There is a LED 6-lane scoreboard, spectator seating in bleachers on the pool deck. Locker rooms are available and swimmers must furnish their own locks. POOL/FACILITY INFORMATION The competition course has not been certified in accordance with Rule C (4). The pool has a depth of approximately 12 feet at the start end of the pool and approximately 3 feet at the turn end of the pool. For relay events, swimmers will start in the water at the turn end. For 50 meter events, swimmers will start at the block end and finish at the turn end. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, locker rooms or behind the blocks. Please refer to the Safe Sport section of the Ohio Swimming, Inc. policies and procedures manual for further information regarding the use of visual recording devices. Deck changes are prohibited. Parking is available at the YMCA. Check the website for additional parking information. Page 1

2 ANDERSON BARRACUDAS M.E. LYONS YMCA ENTERING THE MEET ELIGIBILITY Long Course Meters All events are timed finals for each age group. Age classifications for events are: 10 & Under, 11-12, 11 & Over, 12 & Under, and 13& Older, but swimmers will be scored by ages of: 8 & Under, 9-10, and 13 & Over. Each swimmer may compete in three individual events and one relay each day. There are no minimum time standards. Deck entries will be permitted in open lanes only. Age for the meet is determined by the age the swimmer will be on June 1, All participants must be a member of the YMCA they represent for a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of the meet. Coaches must be prepared to prove current YMCA credentials to be on deck in coaching capacity. All swimmers for individual events and relay events are to report directly to the blocks for each event. By the act of entering this meet, each team, coach and /or swimmer agrees to abide by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations and the Ohio Swimming Policy Book (posted on the OSI website). Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer's legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Entry times will be seeded as follows: Long Course Meters, Short Course Yards. ENTRY RULES GENERAL Deck Entries will be accepted in Open Lanes only. No new heats will be created. ENTRY RULES: INDIVIDUAL EVENTS Swimmers may swim a maximum of three (3) Individual Events per day, plus Relays. Swimmers may swim a maximum of six (6) Individual Events for the meet plus Relays. The 200 events may be limited to the top 50 entrants. After the entry deadline, swimmers cut from an event with limited entries may switch to a different event. Refunds will not be issued. ENTRY RULES: RELAY EVENTS Relays are all Timed Final events. All relay swimmers must be entered into the meet prior to the first day of competition. A swimmer competing unattached may not be a member of a relay team. Relay members may be declared at the meet prior to swimming the event, but must be limited to only swimmers entered in the meet. If an intermediate split time is desired in order to obtain a qualifying time, a lead off split form must be filled out and given to the referee ½ hour prior to the start of the relay. In addition, it is recommended that the team making the request provide three (3) additional watches for back up to the electronic timing system. Page 2

Hy-tek entries should be sent via to Entry Chairperson Mark Lingo at by the ENTRY DEADLINE of Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. The Hy-tek event file for Team Manager can be found at ABLY s website at A print out of the Team Manager entries must be sent to the Entry Chairperson. All entries must include the Team Entry Summary Sheet and Team Certification Form. Teams should submit short course yard times with their entries. A check for all fees, made payable to M.E. Lyons YMCA, must accompany your entry. If payment is made by inter-y transfer, you must at least provide a copy of the transfer form with the entries. Checklist for Entries: 1. Team Manager Entry file sent via by Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. 2. The following sent via US Mail to Entry Chair: a. Printout of Team Manager Entries; b. Team Summary Form/Membership Certification Form; and c. Check for Total Entry Fees. Entries will be accepted on a first received basis with the meet limited to 300 swimmers, not counting ABLY. If your entries are limited, your coach will be notified. ENTRY FEES Individual Events - $4.50 per entry ($5 per Deck Entry) Relay Events - $18.00 per entry ($20 per Deck Entry) All entry fees are to be paid to the meet host prior to the start of the meet. PROOF OF TIMES PROCEDURE: SWIMMERS WITH A DISABILITY None. ABLY welcomes swimmers with disabilities to participate in the meet. The Meet Director requests 1) the athlete s coach provide advance notice of any necessary accommodations; and 2) list in the with the Hy-Tek entry (or on paper) the swimmer s name, entry times, stokes/distances, days/sessions, and how the swimmer prefers to be seeded. Swimmers with a disability will be seeded with the same age group in either the same distance race or a longer distance race (i.e., 50 free during the 100 free). More info. available under Adapted Swimming on the Ohio Swimming website. COMPETITION FORMAT AND PROCEDURES USA Swimming Rules will be used. This meet will be USA APPROVED and all times will be loaded in the RULES USA SWIMS database. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT All coaches must sign in for each session and present current YMCA credentials to be present on deck in a coaching capacity. At the discretion of the Meet Director, there may be a brief coaches meeting prior to start of the meet. ABLY greatly appreciates the help we get from other swim clubs in timing and officiating our meets. Any volunteers should contact the Meet Director. COMPETITION GUIDELINES & MEET FORMAT Six (6) lanes will be used for all heats in all sessions. The meet referee reserves the right to combine events in accordance with USA Swimming Rules & Regulations. A timeline will be posted in several prominent places, however, timelines are approximate. 4 WARM-UP AND SAFETY GUIDELINES & PROCEDURES ANDERSON BARRACUDAS M.E. LYONS YMCA Ohio LSC swimming safety guidelines and warm-up procedures will be in effect at this meet. Warm-up procedures may, at the discretion of the host team, be modified based on number of swimmers in the meet and other safety and logistical concerns. Except during supervised racing starts, swimmers must enter the pool feet first in a cautious manner with one hand in contact with the pool deck. Page 4

LYONS YMCA It is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event Host Team Safety Responsibilities: Marshaling Requirements: a. A minimum of four (4) marshals, per pool, who report to and receive instructions from the Meet Referee and/or the Meet Director, shall be on deck during the entire warm-up session. An announcer must be available during the warm-up session to announce lane and/or time changes and to assist with the conduct of the warm-up. Host team must supply a certified lifeguard on duty at all times. SAFETY GUIDELINES Coach/Team Safety Responsibilities: Coaches shall instruct their swimmers regarding safety guidelines and warm-up procedures as they apply to conduct at meets and practices. Coaches shall actively supervise their swimmers throughout the warm-up session at meets Coaches should maintain as much contact with their swimmers as possible, both verbal and visual, throughout the warm-up period. Coaches should stand near starting end of the pool when starting swimmers on sprint or pace work. Miscellaneous Safety: Backstrokers shall ensure that they are not starting at the same time as a swimmer on the blocks, and they must enter the pool feet first. Swimmers shall not step up on the blocks if there is a backstroker waiting to start. Swimmers shall not jump or dive into the pool to stop another swimmer on a recalled start. Swimmers are required to exit the pool upon completion of their warm-up period to allow other swimmers adequate warm-up time. Warm-up procedures shall be enforced for any breaks and/or any areas used for warm-up and warm-down during the competition. Page 5

LYONS YMCA SCRATCH RULES EXCEPTION FOR FAILURE TO COMPETE IN FINALS There is no penalty for failing to compete in a preliminary, timed final, or relay heat. Exception: An individual event in which a swimmer has not scratched prior to the appropriate deadline will be counted toward that swimmer s six event limit. A swimmer qualifying for a Championship, Consolation or Bonus Final who fails to compete shall be barred from their next scheduled preliminary event, and must positive check-in with the meet administrative official for all subsequent events. No penalty shall apply for failure to withdraw or compete in an individual finals event if: The Referee is notified in the event of illness or injury and accepts the proof thereof. A swimmer qualifying for a bonus, consolation or championship final race based upon the results of the preliminaries notifies the Administrative Referee within thirty (30) minutes after the announcement of qualifiers for that race that they may not intend to compete and further declares their final intentions within thirty (30) minutes following their last individual preliminary event. It is determined by the Meet Referee that failure to compete is caused by circumstances beyond the control of the swimmer. Each coach should obtain from the admin table a Relay Sheet on which the swimmers for each relay are to be listed. Deadline for submission to the admin table is one hour after the start of each meet session. Relay order may be changed by the coach up to the time of the swim. RELAYS AND RELAY CHECK-IN PROCEDURES AWARDS & SCORING WARM-UP SCHEDULE / RESULTS MEET OFFICIALS The Meet shall score 12 places using the traditional scoring method. Ribbons will be awarded to the 1 st through 12 th place finishers by age groups: 8& Under, 9-10, and 13 & Over The following information will be published on the meet host website at: 1. LYONS YMCA TIMERS VENUE INFORMATION Parents who would like to serve as a timer may report to the check in table in the concourse 40 minutes prior to the start of the session. Locker Rooms and Changing Facilities: The Women and Men s locker rooms are located in the YMCA. Locker space is available and athletes must bring their own lock. Belongings may be stored on deck in team areas. M.E. Lyons YMCA is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. First Aid/Training Needs: Lifeguards are trained to handle water emergencies and first aid on the deck. Please report all first aid issues to the Aquatic Staff. Prohibited Items: The following items are not permitted in the facility: Glass, coolers, and helium balloons. Banners: One professionally made banner per team may be displayed. Flash Photography: Flash photography is not permitted at the start of any race. Team Seating: Team seating is available on a first-come basis by session. Belongings should be removed from the deck between sessions for area cleaning. Team Tents: Teams may bring tents to be set-up in designated areas. Wireless Internet Access: We will attempt to make wireless internet access available throughout the meet. Page 7
