We had a great month of competitions in June. MHA hosted the annual Howard Jones meet, splitting it into 2 separate meets: age group and senior.

Of Note... It s great to have our summer back (finally!) and it is wonderful being able to train outside. We had a great month of competitions in June. MHA hosted the annual Howard Jones meet, splitting it into 2 separate meets: age group and senior. This allowed us to go prelims and finals at the senior meet and this format was well received by the Oregon swimming community. The result was a much higher percentage of lifetime best swims by all participants. MHA and the Bellevue Athletic Club Swim Team had a great team battle throughout the weekend, with the home team coming out on top by a narrow margin. Congratulations, Mt Hood Aquatics! A big thank you to all our parent volunteers who ran these exceptional meets! We are currently preparing for the championships in July and August. Our 10 & unders travel to Bend for state and the 11 & over meet will be held in Eugene. MHAC will, again, be hosting Senior Sectionals. I m very pleased with the progress of our club development. We are becoming more competitive within the age group portion of MHA and our team numbers continue to rise. Our senior team continues to develop a Commitment to Excellence and I m very pleased with improvements in workout attendance, which is obviously accelerating our progress. See you on deck! Sr III Skip & Burt Christy Hartenstein At the Howard Jones meet, Christy swam to lifetime bests in the 400 Fr, 400 IM, and 200 Fly. She is close to qualifying for Sr. Sectionals in several events.

Barlow/Red-Taylor Annalee Gillies Annalee has shown major improvement in technique and love for the sport.

MHCC/Gold-Bill Bryn Lasher-Known as Lasher the Dasher by her coach and teammates, Bryn has come out of the early long course season, where she doubled up in track and swimming, with a visibly new

Kelsey Scully Kelsey has been training exceptionally well this summer. She has improved in all strokes and distances. Kelsey is a popular athlete who is very supportive of her teammates. Barlow/Red-Taylor Annalee Gillies Annalee has shown major improvement in technique and love for the sport. She has taken her swimming to the next level by going to her first interclub meet and official meet at the Howard Jones. MHCC/Gold-Bill Bryn Lasher-Known as Lasher the Dasher by her coach and teammates, Bryn has come out of the early long course season, where she doubled up in track and swimming, with a visibly new purpose. Bryn s high MHCC/Senior I-Bill Sara Crouch Sara s high point of the month was the Howard Jones meet where she achieved 78% lifetime best times, a 35 second drop in her 400 free (A cut) and a ten second drop in her 200 free (almost an A cut). Sara is a good example of a hard worker; she has a good attendance record and routinely is willing to push and challenge herself in the water. She has embraced the refinements in her stroke technique, which has made her a better swimmer. We know that, because her cheeks are often bright red after practice. Sara will be an important member of our relays and she will be counted on to score points at State this summer. We look forward to seeing Sara continue to progress in the future. point of the month was the Howard Jones meet where she achieved 75% lifetime best times, all solid B times. Bryn is knocking on the door of her first State qualifying times and it will be just a matter of time before she is there. Bryn has taken her training to a new level and is the strongest girl on the squad with 14 pull ups. She has also willingly accepted challenging butterfly sets. Bryn distinguishes herself by showing good mental focus prior to competition: knowing her events ahead of time, setting goal times and sharing them with Coach Bill. Expect to see more success from Bryn in the future.

DD/Red-Juan Mark Candamo- Mark joined us a few months ago and has improved dramatically.

DD/White-Juan Ainee McCracken- Ainee has been on the team for a few weeks and is a fast learner.

DD /Senior 1-Jim Elizabeth Fryer Elizabeth is having an incredible summer she.

DD/Gold-Jim Arielle Louie Arielle is getting better and better. She is getting on a consistent training schedule.

Red Dennis Ethan Parker- Ethan is 14 years old and is really coming around as a Red Squad swimmer.

! Red Dennis Paulina Joao- Paulina Joao is 13 years old. She has really improved on her Breaststroke as of late.

3 DD/Red-Juan Mark Candamo- Mark joined us a few months ago and has improved dramatically. He always has a positive attitude and puts in 100% effort into anything we do at practice. DD/White-Juan Ainee McCracken- Ainee has been on the team for a few weeks and is a fast learner. She already has all four strokes down and has excellent attendance! Keep it up Annie! DD /Senior 1-Jim Elizabeth Fryer Elizabeth is having an incredible summer she. She is attending practice with a purpose and is impressing the coaching staff with her dedication, willingness to train, and excitement about swimming. She had 8 out of 9 best times at the Howard Jones swim meet and has gotten all her state qualifying times. DD/Gold-Jim Arielle Louie Arielle is getting better and better. She is getting on a consistent training schedule. She had all best time at the Howard Jones meet. The more practices she attends, the faster she gets. Red Dennis Ethan Parker- Ethan is 14 years old and is really coming around as a Red Squad swimmer. He has mastered all 4 strokes and works very hard at practice. Great Job Ethan!! Red Dennis Paulina Joao- Paulina Joao is 13 years old. She has really improved on her Breaststroke as of late. She really has fun at practice and works very hard all the time. She is a pleasure to coach. White Dennis Benjamin Klopp- Benjamin Klopp is 8 years old and is a tough swimmer. During the last two Swim-a-Thons I never saw him stop until he was done!! He listens very well and is a leader of the white squad!! White Dennis Hailey Pinjagic-Hailey Pinjagic is 6 years old. She hasn't been on the White Squad for very long but is quickly improving her skills. She is a joy to coach and has a smile for the coach every day. Keep it up!! Congratulations to all the Swimmers!!!

4 MT. HOOD AQUATICS Swim-A-Thon Awards Banquet Monday July 11, :00-7:00pm Mt. Hood Aquatic Center Let s celebrate the success of Swim-A-Thon. Dressy attire requested. Slacks, shirts (tucked in :)), ties for the boys; dresses for the girls. The evening will include the awards presentation, drawing for the grand prize and a potluck barbeque. Bring your suit for swimming afterwards. To make things simple please bring a dish to share based on your last name. Burgers and hot dogs provided by the team.
