Cornhole 2 Players Playing Area: The Cornhole platforms will be placed on a flat surface, with the front edges 27 feet apart. A player may toss from anywhere behind the front of the platform from which they are throwing, but all turns should be taken form the same side of the platform as the first toss. Scoring: 3 points a bag that goes through the hole completely. 1 point a bag remaining on the playing surface, a bag that is hanging into the hole, but does not fall completely through, a bag that is hanging off the edge of the platform, but does not touch the ground. 0 points A bag that hits the ground before coming to rest on the platform, a bag that is on the playing surface, but is also touching the ground or another bag that lies on the ground, a bag that is hanging off the front edge and is resting on a bag that is on the ground. A bag that bounces on the board from the ground should be removed before the next player tosses. Scoring is done by cancellation. The difference of both teams scores is the score given to the highest scoring team. If both teams score the same amount, no team will receive points. Game Play 4
Tug-of-War 6 Players (3 male, 3 female) The Rope: A red marker will be placed in the middle of the rope. A white mark will be placed exactly 13 ft. from the red mark on either side of the rope. Game Play: Each team will line up on either side of the rope, behind their designated mark on the ground. The judges for the event will indicate when to pick up the rope and when to begin pulling. Once the Pull command is given by the judges, each team can begin pulling the rope. The team to pull the rope's center red maker across their white mark wins the game. NOTE: Participants are not permitted to knot the rope around their waists at all or wrap the rope around their wrists/arms more than once during the Tug-of-War competition. Everyone participating in this event should wear gloves to protect their hands from rope burns. Gloves will be provided or you may bring your own. No cleats allowed! 5
Pickleball 2 Players (1 male, 1 female) Rules Summary: The following is an abbreviated form of the rules to give a quick overview of how the game is played. A complete copy of the official rules can be found on the USAPA website at usapa.org. If there is a conflict between this summary and the official rules, the official rules prevail. NOTE: All players must use a wooden paddle. Paddles will be provided for all participates. Basic Rules Overview The Serve: The serve must be made underhand. Paddle contact with the ball must be below the server s waist (navel level). The serve is initiated with at least one foot behind the baseline; neither foot may contact the baseline or court until after the ball is struck. The serve is made diagonally crosscourt and must land within the confines of the opposite diagonal court. Only one serve attempt is allowed, except in the event of a let (the ball touches the net on the serve and lands on the proper service court; let serves are replayed). Service Sequence: Both players on the serving doubles team have the opportunity to serve and score points until they commit a fault. The first serve of each side-out is made from the right-hand court. If a point is scored, the server switches sides and the server initiates the next serve from the lefthand court. As subsequent points are scored, the server continues switching back and forth until a fault is committed and the first server loses the serve. When the first server loses the serve the partner then serves from their correct side of the court. The second server continues serving until his team commits a fault and loses the serve to the opposing team. Once the service goes to the opposition (at side out), the first serve is from the right-hand court and both players on that team have the opportunity to serve and score points until their team commits two faults. Scoring: Points are scored only by the serving team. Games will be played to 7, When the serving team s score is even (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) the player who was the first server in the game for that team will be in the right-side court when serving or receiving; when odd (1, 3, 5, 7,9) that player will be in the left-side court when serving or receiving. 6
Pickleball Continued Double-Bounce Rule: When the ball is served, the receiving team must let it bounce before returning, and then the serving team must let it bounce before returning, thus two bounces. After the ball has bounced once in each team s court, both teams may either volley the ball (hit the ball before it bounces) or play it off a bounce (ground stroke). Non-Volley Zone: The non-volley zone is the court area within 7 feet on both sides of the net. Volleying is prohibited within the non-volley zone. This rule prevents players from executing smashes from a position within the zone. A player may legally be in the non-volley zone any time other than when volleying a ball. Line Calls: A ball contacting any line, except the non-volley zone line on a serve, is considered in. A serve contacting the non-volley zone line is short and a fault. Faults: A fault is any action that stops play because of a rule violation. A fault by the receiving team results in a point for the serving team. A fault by the serving team results in the server s loss of serve or side out. A fault occurs when: o A serve does not land within the confines of the receiving court o The ball is hit into the net on the serve or any return o The ball is volleyed before a bounce has occurred on each side o The ball is hit out of bounds o A ball is volleyed from the non-volley zone o A ball bounces twice before being struck by the receiver o A player, player s clothing, or any part of a player s paddle touches the net or the net post when the ball is in play o There is a violation of a service rule o A ball in play strikes a player or anything the player is wearing or carrying 7
Volleyball 6 Players (at least 3 females) All games are strictly recreational. Team Composition Teams are coed and may consist of 10 players. Six people may play at a time, three of whom must be female. If ball is touched twice on same side of net, a female must make one touch. A team may play with 5 players, but no more than 3 can be male. Game Play There will be single match elimination. A match will consist of the best of 3 rally score games played to 11 points (must win by 2 points). Matches will be played consecutively. An individual may play on one team only. If their team is eliminated, they cannot switch to a different team. Each team must have a captain. He/she is the only individual that may address the officials. The team captain should ensure all players on their team are informed of the rules. Matches will start at the appointed time. There will be no waiting for participants from other events. Volleyballs will be provided for matches only. Teams must provide their own volleyballs for practice. The coin toss winner may elect to serve, serve receive, or side. Rules For purposes of continuity, each team will adhere to the following rules of play: Blocking at the net is permitted, except on the serve. Serves that hit the net and continue into play will be considered live play. Position switching, between the front and back rows, is not allowed. Teams will not be allowed to line-up with two males next to each other unless the team only has 5 players. Rotation will occur in a clockwise direction and substitution will be allowed only into the position immediately to the left of the server. All players on teams with more than 6 members must rotate out from the serve position. Players will rotate onto the court in the same order each time. (on a team with 10 players, the person that rotates out will remain out for 4 rotations.) There will be no strict enforcement of volleyball rules pertaining to the manner in which the ball should be struck, and generally speaking, any hit above the waist will be considered legal. However, "catching" or "throwing" of the ball is not allowed. One 30 second time-out will be permitted per game and per team. Touching the net will not be permitted. 8
