1 sflib soundfiles whose names include the character string.loop (for example, /sflib/string/violegam.loop.af1.wav) are designed for looping. All of the soundfiles within the brassloop directory, and the multisample sets within the kb, string and wind directories whose names include the string.loop, can be looped with Csound, Reaktor and certain other audio applications in order to obtain output durations of arbitrary lengths. Important note: Some of the sflib soundfiles designed for looping will not sound well, or be musically usable, if looping or additional amplitude envelope controls are not employed. Some of these soundfiles do not include a decay, and will end very abruptly (possibly with a click) if amplitude decays are not added. A few looped soundfiles also require a fade-in on the attack. Beginning and ending loop points can be included in the headers of AIFF format soundfiles, but generally are not included in the headers of WAVEformat soundfiles like those used on the ECMC Windows and Linux systems. On ECMC SGI system arcana loop points included in AIFF soundfile headers can be displayed, along with other header information, with the sndinfo command. On the ECMC Linux and Windows systems loop points cannot be displayed, since they are not included in soundfile headers. ECMC Linux and SGI systems: sflibloops is a local utility, available on the ECMC Linux and SGI systems, that displays recommended loop points, in samples, for any of these soundfiles. Type sflibloops in a shell window for a brief usage summary, orconsult the man page of this utility for more details. Complete list of recommended loop points The following is a complete list (as of September, 2002) of recommended loop points for all sflib soundfiles whose names include the character string.loop: Soundfiles in the brassloop directory (folder): 3trombones in unison: 3trb.loop.f2.wav : trb.loop.fs2.wav : trb.loop.gs2.wav : trb.loop.as2.wav : trb.loop.b2.wav : trb.loop.cs3.wav : trb.loop.ds3.wav : trb.loop.e3.wav : trb.loop.fs3.wav : trb.loop.gs3.wav : trb.loop.as3.wav : trb.loop.c4.wav : trb.loop.cs4.wav : trb.loop.ds4.wav : trb.loop.fs4.wav : trb.loop.a4.wav : trb.loop.c5.wav : trumpets in unison: 3trp.loop.f3.wav : trp.loop.fs3.wav : trp.loop.gs3.wav : trp.loop.a3.wav : trp.loop.cs4.wav : trp.loop.ds4.wav : trp.loop.e4.wav : trp.loop.fs4.wav : trp.loop.g4.wav : trp.loop.b4.wav :
