2 THE WEATHER COMPANY WSI Hubcast 2 2 WSI HUBCAST 3.5 RELEASE NOTES This document describes the major changes introduced with version 3.5 of the WSI Hubcast web service, as well as new features and bugs fixed in this version. For version 3.5, WSI replaced the existing map and query by station (QBS) feature with HTML5 versions that are compatible with popular browsers. WSI also improved the usability and performance of the alert settings pages. What s New: HTML5 map that is compatible with popular browsers Streamlined animation control Intuitively organized map layers New Layers control that displays a legend and transparency slider for each layer Redesigned QBS pages Alerting features New UI for adding subscribers Performance enhancements Auto-completion suggestions for airport codes Updated User Guide and Release Notes NEW FEATURES WSI Hubcast version 3.5 contains enhancements and improvements to support the new map and query by station features. It also increases the usability and performance of the alert settings pages, offers airport code suggestions, and contains links to an updated User Guide and these Release Notes. HTML5 INTERACTIVE MAP For WSI Hubcast version 3.5, WSI replaced the Silverlight map with an HTML5/Mosaic map that is compatible with popular browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer 8+, Microsoft Edge, and the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari.

3 THE WEATHER COMPANY WSI Hubcast 3 3 The map offers a newly designed zoom and pan controls, better organization for weather and airspace layers, more streamlined animation control. The fullscreen control has also been redesigned. The map is automatically centered and zoomed in on your airport. You can display another airport on the map by entering that airport s code in the Monitoring field on the Weather panel and clicking set station. Click to re-center the map on your airport. Basemap layers are now organized into a black map, white map, terrain map, and map overlay showing major roads and place names. The weather layers include radar summary, NOWrad, lightning, SIGMETs, FPGs, METAR plots and barbs, NWS products, and tropical storm tracks. The airspace layers contain inbound, outbound and Company flight filters, as well as TFRs, airports, NAVAIDs, waypoints, low and high altitude airways, and Gulf of Mexico (GOMEX) US Mineral Management Service (MMS) blocks and platforms. The Lightning Service Area is now accurately depicted as a radius on the map. The new Layers control, located in the lower right corner of the map, displays a legend and transparency slider for each layer displayed on the map. Legends can be reordered and closed.

TEXTUAL WEATHER BRIEFING WSI Hubcast version 3.5 offers a new interface for generating a textual weather briefing for multiple airports.

5 THE WEATHER COMPANY WSI Hubcast 5 5 ALERTING Although the alerting pages offer the same functionality as the previous release, they have been redesigned for greater usability. We now send only changed alert settings to the database, so there is no longer a delay when you save changed alert settings.

6 THE WEATHER COMPANY WSI Hubcast 6 6 AIRPORT CODE AUTO-COMPLETION WSI Hubcast now offers auto-completion suggestions for airport codes when you select an airport to monitor. NEW DOCUMENTATION FEATURES You can now access an updated User Guide and Release Notes. Click Help in the WSI Hubcast page header or footer then click WSI Hubcast 3.5 User Guide to display the User Guide. Click WSI Hubcast 3.5 Release Notes to display these Release Notes. BUG FIXES You can now successfully submit a support issue. The Privacy Policy link on the footer now displays The Weather Company s privacy policy. The link on the About page now displays The Weather Company home page. You can now successfully submit feedback. Audio alerts now play consistently. KNOWN ISSUES Some objects on the map, such as WSI FPGs, do not display their details on mouseover. The Current Conditions, Alert Center, interactive map, and Flights tab may load into the browser at slightly different rates. If one of these elements of WSI Hubcast does not appear, wait a few seconds for it to finish loading.
